"Operation 10000" will be launched by the Club at 2pm today. Here's a sneak peek ;)
In the video Benny Gale mentions that the Club's research shows there are 500,000 Tiger supporters out there of which only 42,000 are members. He admits the club doesn't have a clue who most of the remaining 460,000 supporters are but YOU do.
The Club as we know is aiming for 75,000 members by 2014 and so we need 10,000 new members in 2011 as a first step towards reaching 75,000.
The person who can sign up the most new members wins $10,000 which will be presented to them at the 2011 B&F night.
Here's the video (8.5 Mb) (http://oneeyed-richmond.com/movies/membership/2011/10000members.flv) [works in Winamp and realplayer] :thumbsup

More Info
Operation 10,000 is a digital membership referral campaign that has been developed specifically for the Richmond Football Club, it’s members and supporters.
Essentially, Operation 10,000 seeks to join 10,000 new RFC members in 2011. New is defined by not having been a member of the Club in 2010. In November 2010, all members will receive an e-mail inviting them to join Operation 10,000. Joining Operation 10,000 costs nothing. For those members who do not receive the e-mail or mis-place the e-mail, they can access the campaign via the Operation 10,000 link on the Club’s membership page of our website.
By following the prompts and joining the campaign, members are not only assisting the Club in our quest for 10,000 new members but are also entering the running to share in $25,000 worth of cash and prizes. (See prizes tab)
Step 1 of 2 - Sign Up
Create your Operation 10,000 account. Click the sign up button on the right of the Operation 10,000 home page and enter your name, email address and a password and you are done. After completing this step you will have signed up to the Operation 10,000 campaign and you will receive a confirmation email containing your Operation 10,000 account details and a 5 point bonus to get you started.
Step 2 of 2 - Connect to stuff
Connect your Operatiopn 10,000 account to your stuff account. This is highly recommended as it will give you the opportunity to share the campaign with the greatest number of friends possible and increase your chance of earning points and winning prizes. Don't worry if you don't have a stuff account, you can create one at Step 2 by clicking the Connect to stuff button, or at anytime after this step by clicking on the stuff Share buttons on the screen.
If you don't have a stuff account or just don't want to connect your Operation 10,000 account to stuff, just skip Step 2 of the sign up process and share the campaign with your friends via the e-mail Send-to-a-Friend feature. With the e-mail Send-to-a-Friend feature you can send the Operation 10,000 campaign to as many people as you like via email, and even include your own personalised message to each of them.
Remember, the idea is to share the campaign with as many Richmond supporters as possible who were not members in 2010.
Earning Points
Once you send the e-mails and post the campaign to your stuff wall, your friends and family will be able to a follow link to Operation 10,000 online where they can watch the campaign video and sign up to Operation 10,000 free of charge. For each friend who follows your stuff or e-mail Send-to-a-Friend link to the Operation 10,000 and completes the sign up process we provide you with 5 points. For those friends who also elect to purchase an RFC membership for season 2011, you will receive and additional 50 points. You'll then be well on the way to sharing in the prizes.
Your up-to-date points, along with a leader board can be checked any time that you log into the campaign with your email address and password.
Keeping You Updated
As your friends and family join up to the Operation 10,000 campaign you will receive confirmation e-mails. These confirmation e-mails will provide an update on your points total. The Operation 10,000 Leadership Board will update automatically when your friends sign up for the Operation 10,000 campaign.
You will also receive confirmation e-mails when your friends purchase an RFC 2011 membership. Points for membership purchases will be updated in the Operation 10,000 Leader Board every week on Friday.

I wasn't at the B&F but I wouldn't think it's the same. Just a short talk by Benny Gale introducing Op 10000. Not worth downloading to be honest.

i wasnt a member last yr or the yr before i see no need. as such i wont be again this yr. i will do the usual and donate in other ways. besides i give more each yr to the club than what a membership is worth.
as long as we all contribute i cant see why so many get uptight about memberships. lets stroke the egos and tell nm supporters we have more members. im not into the whole need to brag thing so long as we all contribute in our own ways.
last yr alone the rfc cost me about $6000,00 most of it just trying to get to see em play. yep theres support and theres memberships.

Maybe the club looks at it from the perspective that every membership means money and debt reduction, and that the easiest way to get a supporter's money is through them buying a membership. It's not necessarily about stroking ego's.

Thing is membership numbers help in other ways. There are reasons Collingwood is attractive to sponsors, membership numbers is one of them.

Houli leads the Operation
richmondfc.com.au
Fri 14 Jan, 2011
Bachar Houli has maintained his commanding lead in Richmond’s Operation 10,000 membership campaign early in 2011.
Houli’s pre-Christmas surge, where he referred 40 new Tiger members, has him way in front with 2005 points.
However, the new recruit is ineligible to win the competition, so the second placed Spike Tigers are in the box seat for the $10,000 cash prize.
Operation 10,000 is a digital membership referral campaign that has been developed specifically for the Richmond Football Club, its members and supporters.
The campaign seeks to join 10,000 new RFC members in 2011 (those who did not hold memberships in 2010), with $25,000 in cash and prizes to be won.
For more information on the campaign, and to sign up, click here
More than 3000 new Tiger fans have signed up so far, with the Club’s total membership reaching 24,000 this week.
