As we have no veterans on our list, we are able to promote up to two of our rookies prior to round 1 without needing anyone on the long-term injury list.
Who do you think will be the one(s) chosen?
13. Brad Miller
27. Tom Hislop
42. Jamie O'Reilly
45. Robert Hicks
47. Ben Jakobi
49. Pat Contin
51. Nick Westhoff

Hicks and Miller
-
I hope it's O'Reilly and Hicks/Contin, but I suspect it will be O'Reilly and Miller/Hislop
It will be interesting to see what happens
-
I reckon they will promote 1 at the most and that will be between Hicks, O'Reilly and Miller.
-
I reckon wewill only promote 1 and that will be Miller and that should make everyone's day :rollin
The other spot they will leave open unless of course someone does something extraordinary in the NAB Cup
-
Miller is a certainty. Will probably line up round one too. He's been training as a key forward and it sounds like they're training for him to be there. The other should be Contin given his pre season effort to date but would not be at all surprised if it was Hislop.
-
We have to promote 2 at the start of the season to take the veterans spots
That's why it was both Polak & Roberts this year
-
Miller puhleeze :nope, Really liked what I saw from O'Reilly
-
Miller puhleeze :nope,
He wasn't recruited to us as a bean bag :wallywink Miller will get a gig straight up, he will only be left out if Vickery can put on 10kg's or Post can pull his head out of his bottom.........

Brad Millier has to be a certainty! a lot of people will laugh at what i am about to say. when a rookie listed player receives a high number (13) that tells me he will play. i am starting to believe Richmond always wanted Millier but financially said "rookie spot" or "nothing". it was reported that millier wanted to continue playing and took anything. Cameron just simply thought, "let's get him cheaply". it is a rookie spot, only costs around $35,000. that "mentor role" was not the reason Millier took this opportunity. pencil Millier in Round 1. this is my worry ... Ben Griffiths. i am thinking those shoulders are not 100% and he wont be rushed to play. is Millier insurance? quite possibly! is this a short cut from Hardwick/Cameron? quite possibly!

Gee torch you would hope they WONT rush Griffiths to play. ::)
He shouldn't play until is 100% fir to do so. To rush him back would be stupid and detrimental to our long term future
-
Miller & Contin
Isn't O'Reilly eligible to play and on the senior list already so eligible to play senior footy ??

Very sorry WP! I was meant to say he shouldn't be rushed into playing. Absolutely agree with you.
My point is that Richmond got Millier possibly because of Griffiths' shoulders.
???

I think it's pretty silly to expect a 2nd year 198cm key forward with shoulder injury history to play a full season anyway
-
And here is why it's a crock, if you recruit Miller as insurance you admit you have a possible problem area at Key Forward.
But you don't recruit a Key Forward in the draft to fix the problem long term? ???
This is like insuring your house but not putting locks on the doors or insuring against fire but not cleaning back the undergrowth around the house.
-
It's actually nothing like that at all
-

I thought we recruited Miller as a stopgap until Post/Griff/Vickery are ready to fill that role.
And as a mentor for the three of them as well.
And as backup if Jack is injured.

Be OReally interesting to follow the Irish lad's progress this year. Showed a bit I thought last season.

Agree MM. I really liked what I saw from him last season, especially when you consider he is from a non-AFL background. More improvement like that and he could be a real surprise bonus for us.
-
For our future I hope it's Contin and another youngster like O'Reilly but reality says it'll be Miller :P. If it's both Miller and Hislop then :scream.
-
Contin may turn out ok but I rate Hicks way in front of him at this stage. He has sure one-touch ball handling, speed, excellent goal sense and keeps his feet. If he bulks up a bit I think he might be another midfield option. For now a classy small forward.
Contin has a solid frame, which Hicks doesn't. In the games I've seen Contin play (mostly Coburg reserves games) he seems to be a workhorse who likes it in close. Might be one of those players who gets the job done inconspicuously because I was surprised when I saw his possession count from some of those games.
I think the coaches like the way Hislop goes about it but he might need to get VFL matches under his belt to show he's ok since his knee op, so my guess is Hicks and Miller promoted prior to round 1.
-
Contin has outstanding vision. Rarely disposes to a teammate in a poor position.
-
I'm surprised hicks hasn't had a vote yet. I was a whisker off picking him but went for contin & radar o'reilly.
