I was discussing this with my Barber as he was cutting my hair today. According to the Barber Shane Edwards is in the last chance saloon in terms of his career at Richmond? Do you agree?
-
Yep
I liked his season last year, really came on but needs to back it up and go to a new level this season to consolidate himself as a longterm b grade/2nd tier player for us.
His preseason form was a little disconcerting, but i liked his 2nd half on Murphy last week. Think the slow start had to do with post season surgery
-
never rated him. wont win you a flag
Last year was a good year but even then i still didnt think he has what it takes to be elite
-
btw a barber 10flags? ;D I s'pose its good to talk footy, but me personally i love a pair of jugs in my face whilst I'm being soaped & lathered
-
Nope, the coaches love him

I'm with you TM nothing like a set of D cups in her early 20's cutting my hair and the old timer in myself rambling on with my life experience flirting with her while she sheepishly smiles. :cheers
As for Titch I think he needs to build on his improvement from last year otherwise he may be on his last legs IMHO but if the coaches love him as Inf says he may just be one of those maligned players from the supporters perspectives who end up playing about 150+ games.

Ive always gone to Barbers, my first Barber he was an Italian dude, fantastic bloke who use to run poker and black jack nights out the back of his Barber Shop lol- some of the storys he told were classics. My current Barber is a Greek Barber who is also a Richmond supporter. Classic Bloke, has sacked every bloke on our list the last 5 years in conversation lol.
-
My barber is Italian but is a Collingwood supporter :P. I haven't had a haircut since prior to September lol.
On Titch, I still would like to use him closer to goal rather than off half-back where his inconsistent kicking won't hurt if it's turnovered. He's agile and nimble enough to play as a high half-forward or even forward pocket. I actually think he kicks better when he goes long and stuffs up more short passing. A bit like Tivendale on that front.

Ah the classic Thio. My dads barber he has gone to him for 30 years a Carlton supporter can remember the arguments in the barbers shop over politics Greek and Australian and then Greek soccer and the footy back then I had with his son who then also became a barber. I loved looking at the posters of hairstyles on the walls they had back in the 80's and how the haircuts him and his son gave me never looked anything like those well groomed haircuts on the posters anyway one day not too long ago I went in to say hello and pick up my dad and they were still there hanging off the mirrors to my amazement and humour. :lol :rollin :lol

Honestly answer me this; why is it that for about the past 3 years I have been calling for Edwards to be either traded or delisted based on his form over those years and yet after last year just about everyone thought he was the golden boy.
Last year, he was given the most improved player in a team that, well, lets say I probably could have been awarded most improved... :thumbsup
So now as fickle supporters ONE game into the season, directly after his "breakout" year everyone wants to get rid of him.... :lol
Honestly lets give him the rest of this year to it's end before we start calling for his head after one game. Bring this thread up again in September... :rollin

Hang on WAT we are 15 minutes into April and then we have May, June July...........
I can't wait that long. :help

Our parents always told us to respect the priest and the teacher at school yet we learnt more from the barbers son who taught us how to fill out a quaddie at the TAB.

I guess a lot of supporters follow the "you're only as good as your last game" theory WAT ;D.
Edwards' preseason form was ordinary as well as round 1 so supporters are getting impatient with him to improve on last year.

Yeah agree, lets wait and see I suppose.
-
edwards is safe , he takes risks, dimma loves that
-
In danger if doesn't back up from last year. Agree with the comments generally. Agree should play in forward line.
-
He'll be fine bit like chance Bateman he's best is 2-3 years away
-

you have got to be kidding right.
Nothing like Bateman. Couldnt hold a tackle if his life depended on it. Bateman plays tall and Edwards is too raw for my liking
-

Hair today, gone tomorrow?
Not "last chance saloon", more "no chance of intelligence in this salon".

He also had shoulder surgery so had a limited preseason
-

Agree. The barber should stick to cutting hair. Shane's not going anywhere.
I thought his game wasn't as bad as some suggest.
Made one really bad turnover that screamed but did a number of good things as well.
-
Jury is still out, will get another year regardless of his performances this year.
Has a lot of improvement to go.

Not similar as players, similar in that they have/are taking a long time to mature into the players their clubs see them becoming.
-
Was Titch playing further up the ground on Friday night rather than just his usual behind the ball role rebounding off half-back? That mark he took in the forward line where he kicked the goal when he pushed during the play inside 50 into a gap is something I've always was felt he is good at when used that way. He kicked 3 goals in quarter against Essendon doing that about 3 years ago.
-
What I noticed from the replay was that every time I saw Edwards he was getting followed by Baker
Got to ask yourself what the opposition thinks of Edwards if their #1 tagger (seeing as Clint Jones started as a sub) was following a player who so many regard as a liability
-
Yeah I noticed that too, Infamy. Curious...
Thought Edwards was OK. Did a couple of nice things. Put his head over it when he needed to.
-
His haters will be kept at bay. No way Edwards will get dropped for next week.
-
Needs a decent game very soon.
-
Needs to impact this weeks game or he can go for a run at Coburg
-
Shane Edwards has been around a long time now. For me its over hes just an average player maybe he can become a better player at a better club but at Richmond he wont deliver what we need. Edwards, Conners and Morton should all be traded at seasons end IMHO.

Too late now, Edwards should have been traded last year when he had his one decent yaer at the club since being recruited.
Too many people for God knows what reason think this guy is a very good player?????????
-
:-*Farc him off. I've had enough >:(
-
He's eithr too stuffing stupid or not talented in a defensive sense.
stuff off.
-
Put him in the Ruck, he would be playing better than the wacko that's there at the moment.......
-
I've always thought Edwards had 'something', but he has nothing. I'm off the bandwagon, probably was the last one on it.
-
He's a poo sandwhich, and has only played good football when it's easy going.
Eff off.

What the stuff is a sandwhich?
Moron.
-
you cant be a midfielder and have been around as long as he has and be making mistakes like he does.
-
anyone who rates him obviously doesnt go to games. Last year he played a few good games but never tore the game apart.
He is too skinny and more than that he is just plan dumb.
Useless farq
-

eff off.
bloke his dumb. Just a very dumb footballer
Did you go to the game tonight? See that effort against Blair which resulted in a Collingwood goal. Watch the tape.
What an embarassing effort that was.
Ramps its too late we said farq him off last year now once again he is worthless
-
you cant be a midfielder and have been around as long as he has and be making mistakes like he does.
He's a momentum killer, cost us goals, sure he might create some, but turns it over way too much and under no pressure at all half the time.
In a side that contains iffy disposers like Jackson and White, he stands out like dogs balls.
-
disgraceful effort.
Wasnt happy when he gave up chasing in the 3rd Q either.
Isnt a AFL Player
-
He's a momentum killer
Thats it in a nutshell and we look to him to be a creator, he is just too flimsical with his disposal, tonight he made 3 or 4 massive key errors which just stuffed us.
-
Morton and Tuck are not world beaters, but they offer a lot more than this clown. watching the replay in WA just short of half time but this guy and Graham are useless. I also think Leigh Mathews is suffering from dementia, what is he talking about?
-

lol...Hold on to your hat, wait till the third!!
-
I'm trying to survive Harley and Montagna as we speak! What a bunch of clowns!
-
disgraceful effort.
Wasnt happy when he gave up chasing in the 3rd Q either.
Sadly I agree
He was disgraceful last night
My goodness why did we sub Nahas out of the game and leave the this week's clanger king out there to butcher the ball int he final qtr?
Can anyone expalin it to me
-
*Sighs*
Edwards needs 6 weeks at Coburg in a forward pocket.
He isn't a midfielder, he isn't a wingman he is certainly not a rebounding defender.
If he can't mould into a small forward he'll be searching seek.com for a new career in August.
-
Surely there are better options off half-back than a guy who cannot keep his feet in contests, turns the ball over with poor lateral kicking efficiency and gets swiped away in tackles.
No more C graders !!!
Explore other transition options, please Dimma.
-
Shane Edwards can not kick....unfortunately after 70 odd games it may be time to count our losses.
I dont think he is ever going to make it.You never know...Port Adelaide might swap us pick 80 for young Titch.
-
He is not a midfielder and not a defender. At best he is a forward porket but his kicking is woeful. I totally agree with the comments that he is a momentum killer. I remember one shot in the third quarter went out on the full. He turned the ball over under no pressure. Tuck is a 100 times better than him. Tuck can kick a goal, Tuck can take a contested grab and Tuck wins his own ball. The Thrashing Thomas gave Edwards for me may have spelt the end of the career of Edwards
-

:thumbsup it in nutshell.
-
The bloke cost us 3 goals last night
1. Poor kick in the 3rd out on the full
2. Blair pushing him like he was a feather in the goal square
3. Stopped running toward an opponent in the 3rd lead to yet another goal.
When is the RFc going to wake up to themselves. I just cant see how this bloke can be anywhere in our future plans. Tuck also but gee Tucky is so much of a better option than this spud. If your going down the youth path why Miller then?
He disposal is shocking, is so skinny gets pushed off the ball by Blair, has no awareness and IMO does not deserve to wear our jumper again.
At a pathetic 78kgs one must wonder what drugs our weights coach is on. He must be on some serious poo if you have blokes like him and Thursfield who have been in the system for 5 plus years yet still look like toothpicks.
Send him back to Coburg where he can stay.
Dont kid yourself people last year he played "okay" in only a few games and i bet they were against the Interstate teams
-
A standout worst player of the night. Do you guys remember the first round of the NAB Cup where he butchered the ball but most said , hey its preseason. Well its not anymore and the axe needs to fall.
-
Mate, I've seen bigger arms on a clock than this guy.
-
Was woeful last night. Worst game he has played since down at Shell Stadium in 2009.
Butchered the ball and no awareness. Had two shots at goal in the third that could've brought us closer and only got one point from both. His decision making was less than ordinary. Axe has to fall and fall now. Must find his form at Coburg whether he is there for 4 weeks or 10 weeks.
-
Not only was he absolutely raped by Thomas but he murdered it going the other way. Worst game he's ever played i reckon. Confidence is completely shot. Extended stint at Coburg to find some form.
In: Tuck or Nason
