Title: Grigg v Collins
Post by: Bateman on April 16, 2011, 04:05:24 PM

At least we've had one win so far this season.  :shh

Poor old Andy looks pretty inept ATM.

Bate 5 clangers he had and a terrible game from what i hear. Triple M were bagging thr crap out of him

I would say after watching Grigg this year we got it 100% right. Got rid of a flanker and gained a good size mid. Thats a win.

Houli though has question marks.

Anyone who has doubt as to if we made the right choice here just has to watch Collins in todays game. LMFAO.

9 possy's, 5 of which clangers. 10 supercoach points. hahahahaha

Out: Flanker

In: Solid Mid

WIN!!!

Grigg has slotted in nicely.
Brings a bit of something to the joint.
I was skeptical but now I'm on board.

Grigg is a gun, I hate it when people say I told you so, but I'm very tempted to say it lol :whistle.

Anyone who was upset with this trade has been proved wrong.

Well done RFC! All the Best SG

Grigg has been very good for us.
Have not seen any Carlton games where Collins has played but saw a mate of mine who is a Carlton fan and was praising us for getting rid of him and getting Grigg. According to my mate has been shocking and cost them at least 5 goals in his two appearances.

Going by that right now I'm happy where things stand. :thumbsup

7 SHAUN GRIGG/ANDREW COLLINS

The straight swap between the Blues and Tigers should suit both players and their new clubs alike.

Four games in, Grigg has made an impact with Richmond, averaging 24 disposals a game, including 30 against Collingwood.

Collins has played the past two matches with the Blues, for the quieter returns of nine touches in each.

The pair turn 23 this year and have the opportunity to flourish, with both clubs on the rise.

Agree with many others. Grigg>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Collins.

Collins is so far out of his depth it isn't funny...

Collins was our most influential player today - for all the wrong reasons.
He is like a slower version of Brett Peake.

That said ... Collins was woeful was worse than the Bombers loosing 2 men.. should have been subbed off after first quarter...

Collins - you can take the boy out of Richmond but you cant take Richmond out of the boy... P*ss off back to Punt Road you dud!! 2 weeks ina row of nothing but inept efforts by this guy I'd prefer Chris Johnson or even Troy Longmuir to this guy. A more error riddled forst two games I've never seen by a Carlton player, and that includes all the duds were had play for us during the Dark Years.

you know if that was and the reverse happened and we selected Collins the media will be all over us yet again.

Gee i hope Grigg keeps this up for the whole year and we continue to rape the Blues with this trade.

Yep early doors, Grigg is definately of the size that enables a player like him to step straight in and can not criticise at all.
Andy could take longer! I'll wait a couple of years but no complaints.

The way his first two games have gone for Carlton and if Ratten is gets the stuff at the end of the year Collins may not be on the list for much longer beyond that.

He was a far better player with us, this form isn't what we saw the last couple of seasons.
We wouldn't be going to use that 7th rounder anyway so it's effectively for free

I can't confirm it but I believe he got a 3 year contract and that was the main reason he accepted the trade because Richmond only offered him 2.

He had a 1 year remaining (2011) on his 2 year contract with the Tigers.

As part of the trade , Blues gave him another year on top of his current contract = 2 more years with the blues 2011 & 2012

Makes sense when you think about it

Dont forget the Blues asked if Collo was an option to get the Grigg deal done.

So with that in mind why wouldn't you take the extra year on offer especially when one club putting you on the trade table and the other club acvtually wanting you ???

Correct. The following comment was from RFC ANALYST - BLAIR HARTLEY CHAT (October 12, 2010)

"Was ANDREW COLLINS on the table before trade week or was that suggested by Carlton?"
"No Andrew was not on the table, he was raised by Carlton and after long deliberation we decided it would be a fair and reasonable trade. It is never easy but we have to do everything in our power to improve our list. It has worked out well for Andrew as he has ended up with an extended contract, when he may have found it difficult to break into our team in 2011."

I don't really rate Grigg. Average foot skills, doesn't really go in. Kind of wish we didn't grab him. Jacko and Tuck are better versions and we really should never play any more than 2 of them in the side or we'll have 1 too many midfielders lacking composure and/or skill  8)

People forget that Grigg was the same yeah as Collins in the draft. Same age both 23 this year.

Grigg is loads better than Collins, would walk onto any AFL list and best 22 of all teams outside the top 4.

Think he his output has slowly gone down this year after a solid first four or five rounds. Pretty much the opposite of Edwards.
I'm not convinced yet at all.
Saw him not go hard enough and completely give up a chase against the dogs. Hasn't really done anything to win me back since.
It's not like we gave up a superstar to get him, but the jury is still well and truly out, for mine.
