I realize that the team sheet does not reflect accurately how the players actually line up.
But
Post, Miller and Morton in the back line and Astbury up forward begs the question.
WHAT THE ???!!!???!!!

Why isn't contin playing in the Coburg seniors?

he did last week

Why isn't contin playing in the Coburg seniors?
err pee poor form perhaps ::)
-
Gourdis has certainly slipped down the peeking order ???
-
End of the Goo. Thought he had 20 touches last week?
-
I still hoping he and Miller make it if just for what they bring with them on their arms to offical function for not for anything else. Eye candy around the club is a great morale lifter for players and supporters alike I say :cheers

WHAT THE ???!!!???!!!
I said this last week
All players listed on the RFC extended interchange bench have to listed for Coburg
4 of the RFC players in the Coburg side wont be there Sunday
Also, Contin is named on the Coburg seniors bench and for the Coburg reserves again this is what they have to do to allow a player to play in either team this week
Finally, a whack to both Box Hill & Coburg (and the VFL for that matter) for playing their "traditional ANZAC day Cup game" on Easter Sunday as opposed to playing it on ANZAC day being Monday....set a precedent last year playing the ANZAC day game on the Saturday instead othe Sunday now this... in a word Pathetic >:(
-
Yep you'd expect all RFC guys not playing at Docklands will play for Coburg seniors excluding MacDonald and Westhoff.

Not to mention it's on the same day as when Richmond plays :scream. It'd be no skin off the Hawks' nose to play it Monday instead as Hawthorn plays Tuesday and they have the bye the following week. Do Box Hill and the VFL want crowds and attendance income or not?! ???

End of the Goo. Thought he had 20 touches last week?
and many suggested he played pretty well to, and now he finds himself in the thirds, he's no coaches fav is goo :-\

Not sure how ppl considered Goo had played well. When a dud like Thorton outmarks and kicks 4 on you it's not a great look :P.

would think Goo is in poo, LOL

Surely you'd still keep him in the ones though. stuff me, what has happened with Gourdis? Was looking good at Coburg last year and was solid in his Richmond games. Now he's playing 3rds :help

Didn't the club during the preseason admit themselves that Goo was struggling? I admit I have never thought Dave would make it due to his suspect footskills but surely after 4 years in the system he needed/needs to show more than what he has in his time at the club. I can understand the coaching staff now wanting to invest games in younger key defenders who have a potential future ahead of Goo. We can't hold out forever hoping and praying a fringe player at best becomes the type of the player we are chasing. That's what we did with Schulz for 7 years and Sarge showed more than what Goo has and that's saying something :P.
-
Why drop him to the 3rds? It's absurd. He is 21/22 and is a completely diff case to schulz who played mostly seniors for us when fit. He was a rookie pick who hasnt done too badly.Who are going to be the key backs for Coburg this weekend? Thursfield, Astbury, Post? One should be CHF and the other has no future with us...as for Astbury, he's played like a girl all season. I'd rather we kept Gourdis in the seniors at Coburg than drop him.
He is gawn obviously, but Id rather let him play seniors for the burgers and see if he could dominate there and get back in for a crack at some stage. meh :-\
-
and is a completely diff case to schulz
You still nut huggin Shculz Davey ?
-
Goo was moved forward last week because he was getting towelled up one-on-one in the backline by Thorton. Postie was pushed back alongside Burger defender Tanner IIRC. With Thursty and Astbury being dropped back to Coburg there's obviously no room for all of them even if Postie plays forward and Goo being the worst performed key defender last week is the one who got the chop down to the 3rds. At 22, 193cm, 91kgs with 4 years in AFL system he should not be having 4 goals kicked on him by VFL standard spuds like Thorton who aren't known body-on-body players (Jack played Thorton like the rag doll he is in round 1). Goo's struggles over preseason obviously didn't have him in the good books with the coaching staff either. When you're a borderline player you have to do everything right to get a reprieve.

May not be the case Davey, I watched training on Wednesday and Gourdis trained mostley as a foward, the only time he went back was to run with Jack, may be a positional change for him, the ressies thing could be a brush-up run as a key forward, guess we'll have a better idea Sunday.
Also interesting Morton spent a fair of bit of time at traninng working as a back, apparentley he had 13 possession off halfback in the final qtr last week, maybe another change for him
-
Fair enough MT. good points, just disappointed hes gone backwards so fast :scream

Good to see McDonald getting in the goals. Hopefully he can get his fitness up to the standard required to play with the Coburg 1s in the next 2 or 3 weeks.

Yeah, what's going on with him, didn't he have a good pre-season and then just dropped off the radar, or was that Dericks??

Not sure about the goals but I think its 57 to 33.

Coburg's insipid effort today will save a few Tigers who should be dropped. Browne and maybe Astbury (just) probably deserve to be named in the bests. Not sure how Carnell and a couple of others got in there though but I guess so many Burgers had shockers they had to fill the six best spots somehow.

Hawthorn draft picks star as Box Hill smashes Coburg
Sam Landsberger
Herald Sun
April 24, 2011 9:16PM
SEPTEMBER is more than four months away, but a winless Box Hill declared yesterday's VFL battle against Coburg a mini-final.
And it prevailed.
After a pair of losses the Hawks, led by Hawthorn-listed draftees Isaac Smith and Paul Puopolo, won every quarter on their way to an easy 21.22 (148) to 11.6 (72) victory at Box Hill City Oval.
Puopolo pocketed the medal for best afield and set up the win with some crafty playmaking in the first term, when he gathered 10 disposals.
Box Hill coach Damian Carroll moved the 23-year-old, who has been knocking on the AFL door every week, into the forward line in the final term in a further bid to impress Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson.
The SANFL recruit finished with 27 touches and four clearances. Smith, who was snared with the Hawks' first pick in last year's draft, played his best match since the 2010 VFL preliminary final for North Ballarat.
The Stephen Hill-type capped a 25-possession game with a trademark goal on the run from 55m in the final term and was quick to point out his improved defensive efforts to Carroll after the match.
"I'm sure he'll get an opportunity. He's just got to keep playing well," Carroll said.
Coburg lost Richmond trio Shane Tuck, Jeromey Webberley and Matt Dea before the bounce, along with assistant coach Sam Power.
Coach Adam Potter then lost AFL duo Daniel Connors (hamstring tightness) and Will Thursfield (calf) before half-time, but both are expected to return next week.
Potter lamented his side's turnovers and blasted his troops for conceding eight final-term goals when the game was lost.
Richmond ruckman Andrew Browne (21 disposals, 17 hitouts) was the sole highlight.
Hawthorn rookie Luke Breust's AFL hopes again swelled.
After four touches in the first half, the livewire finished with five goals.
"He reminds me of the Collingwood small types, in that things happen when he's around the footy," Carroll said.
Tom Schneider, a Hawthorn rookie from the TAC Cup, led the disposal count with 28, while tough teenager Mitch Hallahan produced a promising senior return from an ankle injury.
