I'm actually really happy they kept Grimes.

I thought he'd be dropped before Astbury because he may have taken precedence in development.

I was wrong and they picked the player that has had the better form.

Well done RFC.

Brad Helbig stiff. Might be for a rest and some decent game time. (This is why the sub rule is garbage, the guy hasn't played more than a half of football yet lol)

You'd expect straight like-for-like swaps based on the outs.

Helbig ----> Connors
Astbury ----> McGuane
Thursty -----> Rance

Helbig has been the sub for a few games this year so probably needs to get a full game under his belt and Astbury was struggling (off his feet last week). Hopefully they both go back to Coburg and put in a couple of good games to get them back into the seniors.

No Postie on the extended bench so the coaches obviously want him to back up that form again.

I reckon huge pressure on Connors this week.
Needs a BOG game i reckon

Some good changes. I agree Astbury needs a run in the  twos and can come back in a month. Helbig needs game time - he'll go back and work on some things and come back again at some stage this year.

 i  have a feeling Dea will come in this week. Dea was playing as a tight marking defender last week, maybe a chance to mark one of norths dangerous smalls?

Pretty peeved edwards survived the chop - how many chances?

Helbig ----> Connors

hoping that it's Tuck that comes in instead of Connors.

Surely this has to be his last one. Shouldn't even have played last week.

Pretty peeved edwards survived the chop - how many chances?

Staggering decision to be honest

4 rounds in 2011 and has been poor in 3 games (average in the other only be casue he was the sub ;D)

Sends a poor message I reckon

The cynic in me says all coaches have their favourites  ;D

Not saying Connors is the answer but there's no room for Tucky in the side with Dusty and Jacko ahead of him on the inside. Tucky lacks polish as well. To be a modern midfielder you've got to be more than just get it and bomb it blindy forward. Tucky also gets burnt on the opposition spread.

Can I presume your talking Miller? If so we'll see.

I'll be happy if he does don't get me wrong, would be a massive effort for him though and only against a very average team at best.

Let me be the first to introduce the Titch Edwards drinking game

* For every kick which resembles a Trevor Chappel under arm ....scull a shot
* For every turnover which directly results in the opposition kicking a goal.....scull a shot.
* For every time he puts a team mate under immense pressure....scull a shot.

Edwards is one of our few players who tries to be proactive.
Dimma can see that despite his kicking woes this season.

I would rather we persevere with someone like Edwards over a stodgy Tuck or Thursfield.

How many chances does Edwards get? Too inconsistent! Would prefer Edwards to play in a Forward pocket where he "could" sneak a few goals.

I thought Vickery is lucky to be still in! Has lost his contested marking abilities. If Post has another 7 contested match against Box Hill on Sunday, Post will replace Vickery, or should!

Graham, seriously, a giant slow turtle! Would love Jackson Trengove to be at Richmond in 2012! Derrickx, there is a Ruck position waiting for you!

Morton has been disappointing. However, what happened to Morton playing on the Wing? Play him high Half Forward at least. Hopefully Morton can string great matches with Coburg!

Connors? Heading backwards and needs to find a position!

Helbig unlucky!

If Grigg and Jackson are in the team, Tuck will not be playing!

Miller in the team is depressing for Richmond. Basically there aren't any young tall Forwards ready to take that CHF position Richmond has been asking for! Griffiths is possibly the answer, hopefully he is not far away! Miller "The Insurance" needs to prove he is worth the time. I will go further to say Miller needs to kick more then three goals against North Melbourne to be worth the time for this week!

So some good in's, must be Edwards last crack at it though and surely he must realist that. Good to see our backmen are in.

Nason is very lucky for mine. Picked on one quarter of decent footy last week. Looks like he or Nahas will be the sub.

Did Dea pick up an injury at training or something? As he's been replace by Webbs in the emergencies since last night.

I've got to admit that I'm surprized with Nason's inclusion. Has he been carving them up at Coburg??? Must be the sub as Jack said but he must be there to offer extra run. I thought Helbig was doing that as seemed 100% tougher around contests than Nason. Interesting :-\
Title: Re: Team vs. Kangaroos
Post by: mightytiges on April 22, 2011, 10:02:54 PM
The problem with being the sub each week is you eventually lose fitness and conditioning so you either get promoted into the starting 21 or more likely get dropped back to the VFL to play a full game and build up your fitness again. That's why Helbig got dropped.

I'd guess with Nason we are hoping he can produce a similar last quarter as last week at Coburg when he was still running on while others were tiring. Before 3/4 time though he was having an ordinary game.

Nason wasn't great last week - good in the 2nd half but his first half was average at best

Tucky hasn't shown an ability to change and adapt to the changing ways of modern footy. He brings a pretty basic brand of inside mid footy to the table and we need players who deliver more than that "going forward" to use a favourite Dimma phrase. That would be my reason why Tucky is continually being overlooked.

I agree about Nason WP. I would've thought we would want to see a full four-quarter performance from those playing at Coburg to earn a promotion. It probably helps Nason that Dimma likes him.

Thanks for that tigers4life. A shame as by the sound of it Dea was finding some promising form at Coburg. Hopefully the meds have got to the stress related injury in his shin early so it is something that will heal quickly and for good and he will only miss a couple of weeks all up.
