Title: Why is it....
Post by: mightytiges on May 23, 2004, 12:23:52 AM
Why is it if we don't score a goal within the first 10 minutes of a game you know we are going to get flogged? Where's the leadership to steady and right the ship? IMO we weren't too bad early on and had our chances but fell away completely in discipline, confidence, skills and teamwork once Port got a couple of goals.

More importantly how to we address and fix the problem? We have recruited experienced players  such as Stafford, Johnson and Brown from other clubs but we still cave once the physical and mental pressure is turned up.

Because our so-called leaders in Chaffey, Kellaway, Gaspar, Campbell, Ottens, Stafford, Johnson etc are not good enough.  Throw in middle tier duds like Fiora, Hall, Hyde, Fletcher, Fleming etc and that pretty much answers your question.

What the hell is Frawley doing with players like Gaspar and Kellaway.  The only thing these two are half decent at is making a spoil now and then, yet Frawley is playing them on a wing and half forward line.  If Gaspar is not fit then let him play in Coburg.......don't embarras us by playing him up the ground.  Also with AK - if he can't man up on a Key position foward then don't play him at all - he adds no value at all.

Correct MT

The so called leaders of the club are woeful.
I cant think of any player who would rate as a standout leader.
When we lose we get slaughtered....its a cop out from players with little to no direction >:(
