For those who haven't heard 3aw said Shane Edwards may have suffered a fractured cheekbone.
-
Any conformation on Titch's injury?
-
3aw just said Edwards' is at the hospital.
-
Great?! ! just as he is staring to play good football :banghead
-
Hopefully it hardens his resolve at the footy.
-
Dimma after the game confirmed Edwards has a depressed fracture of the cheekbone :(. May miss 1-2 weeks at best.
-
So who's going to step up and take his role - elusive, outside play-maker?
For mine I don't believe Nason is the answer - to light and doesn't get enough of the ball for mine. My choices would be to take Nason out and bring White (if fit) and Webberley. Perhaps it's time to give Connors or Morton another opportunity...then again maybe not :-\

Nahas was limping noticeably feeling his groin area. Hope it's not anything too serious, might just his schlong belting his upper thigh.

Heard the commentators say it was a corked thigh - not sure what that means in terms of recovery time though

would like to see oreilly in the side.

And it was the only hard hit Graham has managed to dish out in his whole career! :wallywink

elusive playmaker? your taking the pee surely?
He has played 1 descent game among many very poor ones. Let him string together 3 or 4 good games against quality opposition before labelling our illusive playmaker.
Nason too light understimate of the year. 1 player okay but to have as many as we do can only get you so far.

Bad luck for Shane. Was running into some fine form.
We missed his creativity and pressure yesterday.
-
missed his 3-4 score assists too - may have even got us over the line despite the horrific defensive game we played

That is Edward's role - not necessarily how he always plays. Edwards has been instructed to take on the opposition to break the lines and create space/run. My point was that whoever replaces him will need to fufill this role or replace someone else who is currently in the side who can then undertake the role. Outside runners are easier to replace than inside ball winners - though Tuck isn't a bad option in this case.
Webberley would be the obvious choice but White could come straight back in if he is fit. Nason seems to have the heart of Pharlap and great footskills but is never going to get big enough or have enough tricks up his sleeve for mine to make it.

As mentioned in the Jacko thread, Edwards isn't as bad as first thought. He's going into tonight for an operation to put in one plate in his face. It came across as Edwards would only miss a week at the most but Jacko didn't give a timeframe.
-
I'm pretty sure Richo had a similar injury and did not miss a week. Be interesting to see what Titch does

No. Had 2 plates inserted Monday after playing Brisbane in 2005 then played Friday night against Melbourne (the game Brown broke his leg).

Cheek surgery for Edwards

Richmond midfielder Shane Edwards had surgery last night to repair a depressed cheekbone fracture suffered during Sunday’s match against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.
Edwards clashed heads with Bulldog opponent Matthew Boyd in the opening minutes of the match, resulting in him leaving the field and being taken to Epworth Hospital.
He will be released from hospital today and will miss this Saturday night’s Dreamtime at the ‘G match against Essendon.
Edwards’ time on the sidelines will be dictated by the speed of his recovery in the coming days.

Lacked agility and zip without him. Looked much more slow minus white/Edwards
