Really dont think they would drop Rance, firstly it would deplete his confidence altogether and secondly Hardwick is trying to add consistency to his game. At the moment its pretty obvious that he is up one week and woeful the next. If he puts in two shockers in a row then he may be a candidate but the question is who would replace him, missing Grimes big time.

Thought Rance did some good things tonite. Gave too many frees away though. McGuane is the main problem. Got good courage , that's about it.
I didn't see Webberley today for the magoos ? Is he injured ?

Bring in Griffiths.

Bring in Griffiths.
OUT: Miller, Helbig (doesnt want to go near the ball), Farmer (imposter)
IN: Griffiths, Edwards, Hislop
-
The simple facts are our boys play better at the G. (20 to 30% i recon) I think it's called a home ground advantage. :banghead I know it's other clubs home ground too but we definitely play better there than anywhere else. Makes selling out last night even more disappointing.
OUT- Farmer, Helbig, McGuane
IN- Edwards, Gourdis, Post
Massively missed Grimes last night

I didn't see Webberley today for the magoos ? Is he injured ?
Travelled to Darwin as the emergency.

He was in Darwin Black
Took him up as an extra

farmer was far from worst
what does this mean? he was good iyo. or perhaps he was poor but not as poor as others.
imo he was poor and yep he may not of been as poor as others but poor is poor.
how he got a game in the first place is beyond me, we demand kids perform and earn their spot yet more senior types who have done nothing in their careers can walk straight in. what a joke.
-
Griffiths should spend more time at Coburg. Theres no need to bring him in early. Just let him get confidence down at Coburg for now.

Must admit I was shocked when he was in the starting 22 and Tuck was the sub. I would have had them the other way around (not that I would have picked Farmer if I was selecting the side).

Are you or are you not a Collingwood member?
Were you or were you not a Collingwood member last year?
I know these answers are yes as you've admitted this before, I rest my case. Give it a spell mate.

Outs: Farmer, Helbig
Ins: Webberley, Edwards or Hislop.
Im staggered that farmer underdone is getting games ahead of Webberley who is consistently in the bests. Helbig cost us big time the other night. I think he's got the tools long term but right now he is so far off its ridiculous. If u can bring urself to watch a replay - guarantee u he cost us with nearly every involvement, was borderline narcassistic watching it.
I'd give Miller another run, I like what he does to our fwd line structure and he was the only one who got on his bike, Roo and Vickery just sat in the goal square.
I'd give Browne another run - give him 2-3 more games. I'll cut White some slack bc he was injured and has played a role to date but another performance like that and drop him.
WTF is that sook Morton's problem? Why is he a passenger these days? I thought he found a new lease on life last season with his extra fitness and new midfield role ::)
-

Dont know if it showed up on the TV but struth Matty White had a leeuva lot of padding protecting his ribs on Saturday night
-
Ins Edwards, Hislop
Out Helbig, Farmer.
cant play Post or Griffiths, didnt play well enough at Coburg.

Out : Helbig and Browne
In: Hislop or Webberly and Gus
Picking players on form! Helbig and Browne need to work on their skill errors!
Post, Griff and Dr X need to find form
What is the go with Mitch Morton - is he going to GWS or is he still in Darwin looking for a power point. ;D
Has all the skill , just needs to show the gut running courage he showed last year ( blew up like a pink pig). I thought he was going to fly this year but proved me wrong so far -hope he's injured and not MIA.
-
I would like to see Webberly and Hislop get a game, maybe Gus too, just for the size of him against Sydneys ruck.
Who to drop??? Farmer, Helbig and ???
One more week for Griff though.
-
Gourdis? He played well against Collingwood. I agree Webberley should be rewarded for his efforts. Would be good if they brought in Griffiths but I can understand if they give him another week in the Coburg side. Would drop Farmer and Helbig.
-
White shouldn't play. He will have played only 1 game in a month.
-

Agree on both of these TM. Was surprised on Sat night when Miller was subbed - I thought he was the only key forward playing to anything like a structure and creating opportunities in the air and at the foot of packs. Although it would make sense if he was still affected by that virus as as been suggested in another thread. And Browne needs to be given another 2 weeks minimum to bring his development along and show the coaching team if he is capable of learning and improving enough to justify persevering with.
-
Pretty sure Miller was subbed because it was pretty clear that it was not a night for talls
He may have been playing to structure but he can't kick for goal and was not taking any marks
Better off with another runner in the team
-

Probably right Inf but he was the only forward making fair dinkum leads and creating contests that gave our small forwards a look.

Agree smokey - we nust have been at the same game :rollin
Perhaps Miller got subbed ahead of our main forward because that players name was Jack - could you imagine the outcry if Jack had of been subbed? And I reckon he was terrible Sat night

RICHMOND
INJURED:
Daniel Connors (quad) 1-2 weeks
Matt Dea (leg) 2 weeks
Will Thursfield (leg) 2 weeks
Dylan Grimes (hamstring) indefinite
Kel Moore (hip) indefinite
ON THE BLOCK: Brad Helbig, Andrew Browne
ON THE CUSP: Angus Graham, David Astbury, Ben Nason
MICK WARNER’S FORECAST: Coach Damien Hardwick says he’d prefer another game than the bye, but the week off comes at a good time for his fledgling Tigers. Forget the conditions at Darwin’s TIO Stadium, Saturday night’s loss to Port Adelaide was all about work-rate and intensity, well down on their effort against the Bombers. After the bye come two more tough road trips with games at the SCG against the Swans and Brisbane at the Gabba, followed by Melbourne and Carlton at the ‘G.

You could drop 3/4ers of the side based on Saturday's night effort.
Out: Helbig, Miller, Farmer
In: Edwards, Post, Webberley
Hislop played well but tired in the last qtr for Coburg. May need another week or two at Coburg to get his fitness up. I guess he could be the sub but if we lose a player early in the game then playing a bloke still trying to build up his match fitness would blow up in our faces. A bit like Farmer last week. Needs time at Coburg after missing a fair bit of footy. Helbig needs a run and a full game in the VFL as well as he's struggled the past few weeks making silly mistakes.
-
Out: Helbig (needs a rest), Farmer
In: Edwards, Webberley

This sounds about right to me.
Browne wasnt great but he wasnt the worst. It was only his second game and was in conditions that didnt suit big guys. Lack of effort was not his problem so give him at least one more game.
It hasnt been mentioned on here but Grigg has had a couple of shockers, I know he started the season well but the last couple have me wondering if he doesnt need a bit of a rocket up him. Ill give him one more week but if he plays like the last few then I will be calling for him to be dropped too.
-
Not sure about Edwards coming straight back in, he will have missed 3 weeks of footy. Is that too much? With Whitey playing only 1 in 4 weeks don't want to be carrying too many underdone blokes. Bit of a gamble. Same argument being used against Sloppy and he's only missed the bye, albeit working back from injury.

Okay guys back to the topic thanks so others don't have to wade through a whole bunch of irrelevant post :).

Do Coburg play this week? Reason I ask is that the "underdone" players get a chance to have another run before the Sydney game.

Gotta say the VFL draw for 2011 is a joke of epic proportions IMHO
3 byes in what 9 weeks :P
-
that really is stuffed
-
This is the worst week possible for Coburg to have the bye considering RFC does too.
You'd think the VFL would plan the fixture a bit better
-
Agree with Infamy.
-

The VFL? What about the VFL clubs? The VFL clubs have a huge say in the draw, like the AFL they put in a "wish list" but they get more of the wishes granted than AFL clubs. Poor planning by not only the VFL but our VFL partner as well
-
Jack tonight on Before the Game praised BrownE's efforts over the past two games so it sounds like big Andy is safe.
-
Why would you play Webberly, he seems like a basic half flanker who would play off the bench. Not much to gain by giving him senior games?
-
What the stuff did we draft him for then? Depth?
???
-
What the eff did we draft him for then? Depth?

To avoid Barlow.
-
Webberley has to play. Been in bests for Coburg in the last few weeks and is much stronger than Nason.
Nason just gets rag dolled far too much for my liking and opposition players break his tackles too easily.
Give Webberley a go.
-
Except Webberley has now had two weeks without any game time due to going up to Darwin as the 23rd man

I think they will bring Edwards straight in
-
Herald-Sun's weekly footy barometer ....
ON THE BLOCK: Shane Tuck has been in and out, and subbed all year. A full game in the magoos is on the cards.
ON THE CUSP: Midfielder Shane Edwards has recovered from a depressed cheekbone and should come straight back in. Ruckman Angus Graham, midfielder Tom Hislop (rookie), defender David Gourdis and Ben Nason have impressed in the VFL.
MICK WARNER’S FORECAST: Both the Tigers and their VFL affiliate Coburg had the week off, meaning they must overcome the curse of the bye and a poor record at the SCG to keep their finals hopes alive.

Wouldn't mind giving Hislop a go, maybe in better nick than Edwards at the moment, condition wise.
-
RICHMOND - In the Mix
The Tigers and VFL affiliate Coburg had the bye last weekend giving Hardwick's men a long time to stew over their upset loss to Port in Darwin. It remains to be seen whether the coach will be looking to make a statement at the selection table after the loss. Shane Edwards is available after recovering from the fractured cheekbone he suffered in round eight.
