Good to see O'Rielly making his way but up to the seniors.
-
Griffiths half back???
-
Derickx gets main ruckman role?
-
We should 'Capuano' Graham. We can't have him holding back the development of our other ruckman in the reserves.

Half-time
Coburg 1.4.10
Port Melbourne 15.7.97
-
that is horrible. we had 13/18 starting Richmond listed players according to the team line up. I know Port Melbourne are first but having that many AFL listed players is horrible. We might as well go alone next year, no connection at Coburg anymore.
-
Half-time
Coburg 1.4.10
Port Melbourne 15.7.97
lmao
-
Batchelor flew up to Sydney as 23rd man so he's not part of this flogging.
Coburg almost went goal-less for a half. Dylan Murphy kicked Coburg's only goal on the siren.
RT73 on BF saying this game explains why certain RFC players aren't getting AFL games.

You've included the 5 players who have gone up to Sydney in your "13". :wallywink

1) Coburg are rubbish having won one game out of nine this year compared to Port Melb who are top of the VFL ladder and flying. Most of the RFC guys are talls and so reliant on too many young inexperienced Coburg-listed smalls to get the ball to them.
2) I don't believe any RFC player is playing well :P.

3/4 time
Coburg 0.0 1.4 3.4-22
Port Melbourne 9.6 15.7 18.16-124

So does anyone still think we have the depth of players to carry us further next year should we finish 9th....NO WAY!!!
-
the coburg coach needs to be sacked on that effort, where are port melb on the ladder, ffs they don't even have an afl alink and have dished us out a hiding, heads need to roll
-
Port are on top of the VFL ladder.
-
Gus reported in that quarter for high front on contact. Also involved in 2 melees. (source BF)

Yep! Gourdis, Post, Griffiths and Webberley will still go a long way to improving some of the ones who are currwntly running around in the seniors (McGuane, Miller and Farmer and Tuck to name a few.) We still need a ruckman though, and we can get a decent one with the picks available.
Don't worry about today's result. The Coburg alignment is dead in the water and playing accordingly. I anticipated something like this today, and that's why I didn't bother to go.
-
holy smokes
Im glad they put the casey vs collingwood on instead
This abomination I would have switched off after 1st quarter

Goudis and Post should be in the side now or at least playing some games, to say they have a long way to improve is a cop out, if they haven't shown anything by now or do so soon well, you work it out.
Webberly and Griffiths, agree, but gee would you call two playes in the seconds depth.... ???
-

He should be sacked why exactly?
Easy way out to blame the coach; blame the players from both clubs IMHO. Pointing the finger at the cobrug coach is a cop out....
RFC players need to understand playing well at Coburg is the ONLY way they will get a game the AFL. Sadly for some of them this either lost or they just wont acknowledge it.
Port are top of the ladder and have the strongest VFL list in the comp
Seasoned bodies -v- kids.... remember that the Coburg list is basically ex TAC Cup & our 1st & 2nd year players.
Ask everyone this. If it was a stand alone RFC VFL side that got smashed by 100+ points would the out cry be the same?

A stand alone richmond would cop worse than this! I expected this result, most would have surely?
The injuries we have with a young list list like ours would hurt any club!

Because they have been shizenhouse all year, ffs we have a team out there (13) of possible AFL players and they CAN DO BETTER than that.
Something really stinks at coburg! Inexcusable pathetic effort! really dissapointed, we need to get the development right :banghead
No freakin 'KIDS' excuse will do it for me, sorry!
PATHETIC
-
precisely, Ive been concerned at the ordianry operfromance all year, needs a complete review at season end

Skipper absolutely dominated in the Ruck. He made Graham look like a second rate VFL ruckman lol. Skippers precise tap work was unbelievable to tell you the truth, and our midfielders were chasing arse out of the middle most of the day. The umpires certainly didn't help yesterday.
Coburg seems to have a confused team structure, the players are all over place. The amount of stupid rotations they do that just don't make any sense.
-

Yes I agree with you, Gourdis and Post should be in the side and playing some games. They keep getting named amongst Coburg's best and get no reward for it, while hacks like McGuane and short-term fixes like Miller stay in the side. Webberley would be an upgrade on
-
....Don't know what happened there. I got bounced out mid-post. I was saying Webberley would be a better option than Farmer. Ideally Griffiths will come in too when he gets a few more Burger games under his belt. Then you have guys like Helbig and Batchelor who I reckon was stiff to be dropped. We'll see what Astbury and Hislop bring to the side today.
Dean McDonald is showing a bit in Coburg's two's, and like Westhoff, is coming from a bit further back. Then you have guys like O'Reilly who showed a bit when elevated last year but has had injury setbacks, and we still haven't seen what Derickx and Jakobi can do.
So there is a fair bit of depth there.Certainly a lot more than two players.
-
^^^^^^Agree with all of this^^^^^^^^
I'll particularly be watching farmer today. Hislop too.
-
Skipper beat Graham? That is a disgraceful. Getting a good ruckman should be priority number one this draft
-
So we had better get some of that depth back in the side......all two of them... :-\

The Coburg Report
richmondfc.com.au
Wed 15 Jun, 2011
Development coach, David Newett, provides a summary of how the Richmond-listed players performed at AFL level with Coburg in last Saturday’s clash with Port Melbourne . . .
Jeromey Webberley
Maintained his impressive level of consistency, gathering 28 disposals and providing plenty of run for the team.
David Gourdis
Was Coburg’s best player on a difficult day for the team. Had a good battle in defence against quality opponents and persisted admirably to finish with 15 spoils and 14 possessions. Provided some good rebound to top off an all-round impressive display in the back half.
Tom Derickx
Unfortunately, suffered a fractured ankle in the first quarter and will spend an extended period on the sidelines.
Ben Griffiths
Presented as a strong target in the forward half, but had limited opportunities due to lack of supply. Was moved into defence for a quarter to assist the team and accumulated possessions. Finished the game up forward and continued to work hard to provide a contest.
Ben Nason
Was injured in the opening term and had little impact on the game as a result. Took no part in the second half.
Angus Graham
Was generally beaten on the day by his experienced opponent, Wayde Skipper, but did work to offer support in defence and provide an option when the team was in possession. Undisciplined actions at times were costly.
Jayden Post
Was competitive in the air, taking eight marks, and was unlucky not to finish with a few more. Used in a variety of roles and contributed whether forward, back, or in the ruck.
Shane Tuck
A workmanlike performance from the experienced midfielder. Had 27 touches and kicked a goal.
Brad Helbig
Was quiet for most of the day, but when moved forward late in the match provided a highlight with two good goals. Looking for more consistency across the four quarters, as he has the ability to be damaging.
Jamie O’Reilly
His first senior VFL game for 2011 and, despite limited playing preparation going into the game, contributed well in defence. Limited his opponents’ influence and provided good rebound offensively in an encouraging performance.
Ben Jakobi (Coburg reserves)
A much-improved performance at VFL reserves level from the rebounding defender. His skills, overall, were clean and he demonstrated composure when in possession, as well as with his defensive work, to curb his opponents’ influence.
Robbie Hicks (Coburg reserves)
Lacked consistency throughout. Had some very good efforts, along with quiet periods in the game. Looked damaging when applying pressure and getting involved in the play.
Dean MacDonald (Coburg reserves)
Returned from injury and worked hard on the defensive aspect of his game in the forward half. Had 16 possessions and finished with two goals in a solid performance.

can someone explain to me what Newitt's background is.
IMO he is doing a terrible job at Coburg.
Are players not listening to him?

Newitt isnt the coach, Adam Potter is

...and why do suggest that the players are not listening to him, Daniel?
