In this weeks "Inside Football" in the VFL section; Paul Amy is reporting that Coburg & Richmond are about to announce a 3 year extension to their alignment to go through until the end of 2014. Staggering if true - would think there would have to be "out clause" for both clubs
On top of that I have to say that goes against the email a friend of mine rec'd from Coburg's GM about a fortnight ago that said they (Coburg) were looking at extending the alignment for another season but Coburg was planning for and working towards being a "stand alone VFL team" in the future (read after 2012)
-
Keep an eye out for Justin Maddern who plays for the Bombers.
We should be putting him on our rookie list next year, could develop into a perfect 3rd forward option, with Jack and Big Ben, allowing Ty to solve our ruck woes.

The sooner we are not aligned the better.

Let's be hoping there is an out clause if its the 'unfavorable' outcome.

absolute joke if the alignment lasts past September 2011
but I guess laser levelling the punt road oval is essential to player development ::)

Probably is gerks (re past sept 2011) but they need the FTF to be successful to enable us to have our own VFL side.
First lot of FTF monies is set aside for the re-configuration of Punt Road
For memory at the FTF dinner back in March thery said they needed to get at least $4.0-4.5 mil before we could do the VFL side of things
After last week I think we all agree that the $6 mil is unlikely to happen and I think right at the minute they will be lucky to get $4 mil to be honest
-
interesting to see miller named on the back line. I was wondering if he may do so back at coburg given our run of injuries to backmen

Don't look too hard, he is out injured.

I think Jack said on the tellie a week ago the FTF is at $2.57m. With the average crowd last week I'd doubt we've added to that :-\. Disappointing if we have re-signed the alignment for another 3 years :P although that does fit in with our current 5 year FTF plan which ends in 2014.

Tuck to come in for Tuck, Morton possibly also. Surely Morton is better than Hislop?
Graham not in the bests?
Would like to see Gus in to relieve Vickery
-
Tuck to come in for Tuck,
Shouldn't have too many issues stepping into those shoes then Pope.
;D
-
From Continstar on BF....
Tuck - 27 touches, although most were by hand today, still very competitive around the pack, still showed he should be in the Richmond side
Graham - 11 touches, 40 hit outs, 6 tackles, huge effort from him against Bellchambers, easily won the day
Morton - 27 touches, useful around the park for most of the day wherever he was, played mainly up the ground, even got 2 spoils in defence
Webberley - 23 touches, fought hard all day, the same determination he supplies every week
Nason - 21 touches, looked pretty good, spent more time in the middle, and did get a lot of it later on but was solid for 4 quarters
Farmer - 16 touches, great display wherever he was
Gourdis - 15 touches, always in the best, 8 spoils, again controlled the back half, if a team only concedes one goal in horrible rainy conditions and with a wind that should be 3-4 goals difference, then you've done a good job
Jakobi - 15 touches, played loose in defence for quite a while, but was really solid, only 1 touch in Q4 so got a lot of it when the game was still in the balance
O'Reilly - 15 touches, got a great goal from 50m against the wind in the 3rd quarter, and went about his business well, i reckon he could be a good player to have against the smalls
Miller - 14 touches, 2 goals, both goals in Q4, but what i like about Miller at Coburg is he's the focal point, leads to all the right spots and brings others into the play, he was really the only tall option today, and he can play that role well, while Griffiths and Post can't really do it by themselves
D-Mac - 11 touches - not bad, and kicked a really good goal in the first quarter, still fades out of the match too often
in the ressies
Contin - 29 touches, 6 tackles, first game back from injury and was a class above most others, will be back in Seniors next week
Hicks - 25 touches, i like it when he's on the ball, much more exciting and able to use his pace, when in the forward pocket he just can't get involved, much better game

Tigers take big scalp as improvement continues
Sam Landsberger
From:Herald Sun
July 11, 2011
COBURG'S season was over when it finally tasted victory in Round 9 under new coach Adam Potter.
But the Tigers, led again yesterday by Shane Tuck, are now the VFL's giant killers, delivering consistent blows to premiership contenders in the race to September.
First they stunned Collingwood's charge at the finals, then they knocked Casey out of the top four and now they've dealt a massive blow to Bendigo's double-chance hopes.
An early Ariel Steinberg goal was the sole highlight for the Bombers in the 11.13 (79) to 1.9 (15) battering at Craigieburn.
Tuck's purple patch continued, fighting off Henry Slattery's tag to muster 27 touches, while Mitch Tanner blanketed go-to man Scott Gumbleton.
"Gumbleton had the ball kicked to him a number of times where he had to be really strong defensively," Potter said.
Angus Graham took his chance with a dominant performance against Essendon ruckman Tom Bellchambers.
Graham racked up 44 hitouts and laid six tackles to the delight of Sam Power and Mitch Morton, who ran hard to collect 27 disposals.
Richmond's David Gourdis negated spearhead Matthew Little, while Jake Carlisle worked hard for Bendigo.
"They score heavily. And when they score, they kick six or seven goals in a quarter, so to keep them to one goal we're really pleased with our defensive effort," Potter said.

Tuck must come in and I would bring in Morton as well into the seniors

Coburg are doing so lately cause we've decided to play there fringe players in the seniors.. lol

Hislop is earning his spot because he ironed out his deficiencies. Give me a break.
Lets face it the same argument of Tuck not being our future, can be said for about 10 players on our list so FFS play Tuck

The Coburg Report
richmondfc.com.au
Tue 12 Jul, 2011
Development coach, David Newett, provides a summary of how the Richmond-listed players performed at AFL level with Coburg in last Sunday’s big win against the Bendigo Bombers.
Ben Nason
Was inconsistent in the first half, but finished the game off well. Broke the lines, took the ball inside 50 several times, and was efficient with his ball use when involved in scoring chains.
Angus Graham
Again was the dominant ruckman on the ground, winning 40 hit-outs. Constantly gave the team’s midfielders first use of the ball in the tough, slippery conditions. Provided a contest on occasions around the ground, and his tackling pressure increased after half-time, to help shut the opposition out of the game.
Shane Tuck
Another very solid performance in the midfield, with his stoppage work a crucial factor in Coburg’s win. The experienced midfielder continues to play consistent football and display fine leadership for the young Tigers.
Mitch Morton
Played in the midfield and was involved consistently across the game. Accumulated possessions in the defensive half and also regularly took the ball inside 50 to create scoring opportunities in an all-round impressive performance.
Ben Jakobi
The young rebounding defender backed up his previous game at senior VFL level with another solid effort. Again showed good signs with his intensity around the ball, ability to read the play, and his disposal in the trying conditions.
Brad Miller
Put all his football experience to good use in his first game for Coburg. Provided a key target up forward throughout, contested strongly to bring teammates into the game, took seven marks in the tough conditions, and finished with two goals in an influential display.
Jamie O’Reilly
A solid game in defence. Restricted opponents’ impact and also provided good rebound for the team. Is learning and developing into his role extremely well, while still managing to be a valuable contributor at the same time.
Jeromey Webberley
Returned from a stint with the Richmond side and was a major contributor in the Coburg win. Worked hard to link up play offensively and tackled strongly from a defensive perspective.
David Gourdis
Did an excellent job in keeping Bendigo’s dangerous forward Matt Little goalless. His spoiling and general defensive game was strong and he rebounded well offensively to cap off a fine performance.
Mitch Farmer
Displayed good defensive traits in his return to the Coburg side. Repelled many Bendigo attacks and also rebounded well of half-back.
Dean MacDonald
Returned to the senior Coburg side and looked comfortable in his familiar role up forward. Displayed good intensity, applied forward-line pressure, and kicked a valuable goal. An impressive effort from the young forward, who is improving each week.
Robbie Hicks (Coburg reserves)
Acquitted himself well in a midfield role. Was particularly damaging with his ability to break the lines with run-and-carry.
Pat Contin (Coburg reserves)
Returned from injury and performed impressively in the midfield, racking up 29 possessions. Used the ball well in the difficult conditions and maintained a strong work-rate throughout the game.

Round 15 Match Reports
Coburg Tigers webiste
Seniors
We headed out to a cold, wet and windy Highgate Recreation Reserve to face a strong Bendigo Bombers outfit.
We were always worried about the talls that Bendigo had and the conditions played into our hands somewhat.
The coaches did a lot of homework on the match up and we think we were spot on and the result showed that.
However, we never thought that we would restrict them to 1 goal for the game.!
Dave Gourdis did a great job on Matt Little and Mick Tanner did a similar job on Gumbleton.
As usual we got constant drive from Sam Power and Shane Tuck from the contests and Jeromey Webberley and Mitch Morton gave good rebound footy from centre back.
After a very slow first half, Ben Clifton came right into it and was a telling player in the 2nd half.
While the conditions didn’t suit big forwards, Brad Miller was a target up forward and always gave us a contest.
We now need to string 2 wins together and head down to Skilled Stadium for the ABC TV match of the day on Saturday 16th July.
Goals: Miller 2,Cartelli 2,Tuck,Webberley,Clifton,Rayson,O’Reilly,McErlain,Macdonald.
Coburg: 4.1 7.3 8.11 11.13 79
Bendigo: 1.2 1.7 1.9 1.9 15
Development
The young group came up against a strong Port Melbourne team that boasted regular senior players coming back from injury.
While we wasted our I50 entries, the result overall was not too bad and we restricted them to 3 goals for the 2nd half.
We have come up against some strong opposition over the last 4 weeks and with the win over Werribee 2 weeks ago, it shows we are on the right track.
It was pleasing to see that some of our new players were in the best and it’s a credit to these boys that they have persisted in a positive manner since they started with us back in November of last year.
This week we play Sandringham at Mantello Holden Oval on Sunday 17th July at 11.00am
Coburg: 0.4 1.5 2.7 2.9 21
Port Melbourne: 3.1 6.5 7.8 9.13 67
Best:Grgic,Murphy,Price,Linton,Barrack.

my sentiments exactly our future is now.
