AFL Tigers pair under scrutiny
Greg Buckle
July 10, 2011 - 1:49PM .

The AFL's Match Review Panel is expected to investigate several incidents following a fiery clash between Essendon and Richmond at the MCG.

Richmond's Ty Vickery locked horns with rival ruckman Paddy Ryder at quarter-time of Saturday night's game after Vickery had landed a heavy bump on Angus Monfries.

Television footage showed Vickery swinging a round-arm punch at Ryder although it wasn't clear if it connected with the Bombers ruckman's face.

And Tigers small forward Jake King could be in trouble for a glancing blow to the chin of Monfries as both players wrestled on the ground.

"It was just more push and shove. There's not much in it," King told Seven's AFL Game Day on Sunday.

"Everyone got up, walked away and played the game."

King has already served two striking suspensions in 2011.

King is as dumb as Jackson.

If he goes again it should be the end of his career.

Just doesn't have the discipline required to stay on the park.

Jackson is plain stupid getting reported every so often the thing with King is a little different.
Yes undisciplined but flying the flag in the team situation. Not happy about it but we shouldn't be pushed around either.
Jackson being "so tough" where was he at quarter time plonking blokes 100 behind the play where he thinks no cameras are pointing. Give me King's passion and overenthusiasm as well as his flying of the flag as opposed to Jako's stupidity.

true tucker.

if vickery gets weeks for attempted striking when there has been a number of incidents where the force of contact did not warrant any action then we should use use some of the FTF to take a contract on members of the MRP

Jake King HAS been useless and has lost what he should be doing?

Has gone from a two goal per match player which we need to a two kicks per match player!

You play AFL, not fighting for your mates!

Get that part right first!

Torch just put everything into perspective.
King flew the flag for his teamates last night at quarter time and didn't let anyone push him around. The situation arose when it did and he did what he did, as for his output being lower than lets say six weeks ago that is another issue but you can't let the opposition monster you in every brawl fight wrestle fracas or melee. Team sport fly the flag. Although I don't like what I saw at quarter time as I have a fear players may get suspended unnecessarily I do want to see my boys stand up and not sit by and watch one of their own get monstered ala Joeline against Collingwood 2 years ago when Kingy was taking on three and four whilst Joeline was standing by ensuring the manicure she got for her last game stayed well filed rather than having one of her nails broken by Didak or Maxwell if she stepped in.

Which means Kingy will get a rest!
We could do with his aggression when we play a young team!
I love the way the bloke plays but he needs to pull his head in! That will be three spells from suspensions this year, albiet one of them carrying over from last season!

They call him Hollywood.

I think that the common sense approach by the MRP with regard to wrestling/jumper punches with low impact is right, they should do the same with head butts.

Low impact means it brushed them so leave it.

Big improvement on previous rulings.
