Interested in what people think about Westhoff? That is what to do with him come seasons end?
This is 2nd year on the rookie list and he still is in Coburg's ressies and TBH I can't remember if he's played and VFL senior footy....
As I said what to do?
-
waste of space,
-
no Daniel Connors again, has he retired ::)

Played one Senior Coburg game this year WP and was average. Not a bad player at his level, but his level is certainly not AFL standard IMO.
Let him go for me.

Delist. Nothing against him but can anyone honestly see him holding down a KP spot at Richmond? 2 years in the 3rds is enough time IMO.
Farmer CHF ;D How many Tiges can play in this game? is there a limit? Surely a bloke like Jackson could have a run :lol
-
Jackson is "running the boundary" :lol

thanks TFL - I wans't sure if he'd played a senior VFL game as I haven't gone to many this year.
I was curious because I would have thought by now he would be holding down a spot in the Coburg seniors but this isn't the case
I must say he is on my de-list list
-
Not sure how it helps Postie's development being first ruck at Coburg :-\. It's not going to be easier either winning a clearance out of the centre with Nason and Hicks as ruck rover and rover ???.
-
Shows the state of RFCs list and depth when there is no point watching Coburg because the likelihood is that of those playing today not one will be a successful Richmond footballer. :banghead
-
Jakobi has been playing well at VFL level now he's back in the ressies?
Yeah, our own VFL side isn't a priority at all...
Coburg can get stuffed, they stink
-
No Miller today for Coburg.
Bullants kicking with the breeze.
Browne in the ruck.
-
Hicks twice in a minute misses two open targets by foot :P. Coburg should've been lining up for goal.
Post looks like he's playing in defence today.
-
Coburg overpossessing with handball and turning it over :scream.
Coburg finally get it forward via free to Hislop. Browne can't mark but Hicks gathers and grubbers a poster. Bullants then go coast to coast with the breeze for a goal.

Can we actually hit a target 20m away by foot?! :P
-
Haven't seen Coburg too much this year and watching this THANK GOD FOR THAT!

Hicks misses from 15m out running into an open goal :P

A melee going on after the siren. Browne didn't like something that happened.
1/4 time
Coburg 0.2-2
Bullants 5.5-35
Webberley got a heap of it in the back half but it was a quarter to forget. Skills into the breeze were woeful and plenty of dumb footy.
-
dont think there is any future Richmond players there.
amazing how much the irishman has gone backwards, O,Reilly, he is hopeless.
There are players on the Bullants list who deserve to be on an AFL, Saad being one
-
Possies (RFC players):
Webberley 9k 1h
Farmer 4k 5h
Hicks 4k 2h
Post 3k 3k
Browne 1k 4h
Geez Coburg are a small side. Take away Browne in the ruck and Post in the backline and there's no size or presence upfield to kick to.
Team stats:
Kicks 45 - 39
Hballs 46 - 22
In50s 5 - 16
Anyway Coburg have the breeze this 2nd quarter so we'll see how strong it is.

Nason and Hicks have had it about 9 times.
Browne as I said is dominating the hitouts so Coburg won the centre clearances that quarter.
Coburg has had about 50 more possies but trail by 20 pts
Inside 50s: 19 - 22

Any players pushing for selection? webberly?
-
Any players pushing for selection? webberly?
Not really much to write home about. Webberley has got a heap of it but his footskills can be hit and miss.
Browne has been well on top in the hitouts but it's been an old school ruckman role. He may get a game in the rotating door with Gus.
Post has been solid down back.
Really you don't see AFL standard players running around for us today :-\. Hicks and O'Reilly could easily be delisted in 5 weeks time for starters.
-
Ok ta ;)
-
Just to add DD one-on-one the Coburg player would be smaller than his direct Bullant opponent in at least 14 spots of the 18 on the ground. You can't play direct long-kicking footy with shrimps across every line.
Two points to the Bullants to start the 3rd quarter. ABC saying the breeze isn't as strong as earlier.

Sam Power gun VFL player. Not anywhere near a gun AFL player. Had 123 games to establish "gun-ness" and didnt come close. Was slow and soft at the top level.
Wheeler exciting, but if Richmond picked him up OER would go into meltdown for picking another small. Would be 60kg in the wet.
-
Post in and would give webberly another go and give him a couple of weeks at least.
First time seen Willy Wheeler looks OK apart from the sanchez mo

totally agree, Power is a great VFL player, doesnt say too much for the RFC players
-
Best RFC blokes today for mine were Post, Browne, Webbs and Hislop. Post and Browne would be pushing for an AFL recall.
Disappointing were Nason, Dea, Hicks and O'Reilly. Hicks is way too small and just gets pushed aside or to ground far too easily even at VFL level. O'Reilly just didn't have a clue out there today.
A gutsy win all up given the Bullants had bigger bodies and more AFL experience in their line-up. Credit where it's due to the coach given the cattle he had at his disposal.
contin :nope :nope :nope :nope :nope
His first game back in the VFL after a long lay off IIRC. Ordinary and virtually non-existent first half but I thought Contin was reasonable after half-time.

Wheeler has to enter the draft to be picked up by an AFL club. The affiliation provides no benefit as far as recruiting (except we'd know more about him as a player and trainer). Only international rookies can go directly onto an AFL list without needing to go into the draft.

100% right call
-
Watched the game today and as much as it was dissapointing to see next to nothing in terms of future for Richmond it was pleasing to see a pretty gutsy effort especially in the 2nd half.
I've always liked J.Post, I know other (most) on here don't but as a junior he was quite a capable backman and that is where I think he should stay. I think I'd rather Post than Astbury and would rather see Astbury as a forward. Post needs to work on his defensive side of his game, but as a floater (Nick Maxwell) I think he has a future.
Have Griffo and Astbury on flanks leading up the wings with Jack in the goals square and TV at F50 or vice versa.
Down back with Rance and Grimes with Post the 3rd man up, Nick Maxwell style.
Apart from that, other than Post, Webberley, Browne, Contin, Jakobi and MacDonald (Maybe Dea). I'd delist the rest of the players that are running around Coburg. Great efforts but unfortunately AFL is light years above AFL and good VFL triers shouldn't be on AFL lists.
Very enjoyable game to watch nontheless.
-

yep, runs in the wrong spots, hasnt got footy smarts,
waste of a spot on the list, so is O'Reilly.
Yep, you keep all these blokes at the tiges will have 5 wins in 2012 ::)
-
today just proved that Matt Dea is no good
Bit harsh on that call
Mate, lets dont ""dilly dally ""
injuries or not, just keep turning them over.
You know there are some players who are always injured, we keep them,
watching Dea today, he has no idea about playing footy, continually runs in the wrong spots, punches when he should be marking
what hold onto him for another 2 years and find out he is no good.
tell you now he is no good.
-
O,Reilly , waste of space as well.
contin, no idea either
-

The Coburg Tigers came back from 19 points down at the final change to upset the Northern Bullants by six points at Preston City Oval yesterday.
Sam Power was prolific with 33 disposals and two goals. His long goal with the breeze in the final term put the Tigers in the lead. While the Bullants challenged again, Ben Nason finished off the home team with another to lead the charge for its best victory of the season.
Coburg coach Adam Potter was thrilled with the win that showcased the players' self-belief following a 92-point drubbing to North Ballarat last week. ''We just kept fighting and scrapping away and we had a really good third quarter against the breeze. It was lucky that we kicked four goals in the last quarter to win the game,'' Potter said.

Coburg storms home for upset win
richmondfc.com.au
Sun 31 Jul, 2011
Coburg has continued its giant-killing season, upsetting the Northern Bullants at Preston City Oval.
The Tigers collected their fourth win of the 2011 season, the third against top-eight opposition, by six points.
It was also the third win in the last six matches for Richmond’s VFL affiliate.
“It’s great to have a win like that today. I couldn’t be happier with the group,” Coburg coach Adam Potter said.
“We had a really poor week last week against North Ballarat, and we addressed it during the week. The great thing about footy is that seven days later you get another opportunity to come up against a top-four side.
“It’s a good alignment because the Richmond boys came to training on Wednesday, and they were there Friday, which allows us to train together, which is really important.”
Coburg was on the back foot early, trailing by 33 points at quarter time after the Bullants made the most of the breezy conditions.
From there the Tigers kicked 11 goals to four, hitting the front midway through the last quarter, before Ben Nason sealed the victory with a goal in the final minutes.
The win was set up by a dominant performance from the Coburg midfield, including a two goal, 28-possession game by Sam Power, and 22 touches to Jeromey Webberley.
Andrew Browne was impressive in the ruck with 19 disposals and eight marks, while Jayden Post (22 possessions and eight marks) and Mitch Farmer (18 possessions) held the defence together.

Ist Quarter terrible over handpassing only person kicking it was Webberley. Good win but only Post of the listed players showed anything. Hicks has great speed but is too lightly framed and can't kick long. Webberley although tries hard is not up to Afl standards. Hislop Browne Farmer are just not up to it. Nason was okay but needs to show more

Tigers Stage Comeback Victory
VFL website
August 1, 2011
In a remarkable turn of events, Coburg Tigers came to life in the second half of football on Saturday afternoon to snatch a two-point win following a goal less opening term as Brittany Shanahan reports.
If you had to put your house on a winner at Preston City Oval; no doubt you wouldn’t have looked any further than the Northern Bullants, who were holding onto fourth spot. Think again.
The Bullants held Coburg goal less in the first quarter as Nick Meese was effective off half back, intercepting entries inside 50, while up the other end, Setanta O’hAlipin worked tirelessly to present and provide a dangerous target up forward.
Coburg was running into trouble, rather than out. Over handballing, chip kicks and lowered vision hurt the side. It looked like a potential smacking and the only fight that Coburg would put up is the one going into the quarter time huddles.
Yet out of nowhere, momentum shifted and Coburg was taking the game on as instructed by their coach Adam Potter.
In the last quarter, the Bullants didn’t look like a top four side; constantly chasing the tails of their Coburg counterparts and the frustration was clearly showing.
Coburg kicked four goals in the last quarter and returned the favor to the Bullants as they could only register two points.
Tiger Jayden Post was pivotal for Coburg in defence, halting a resurgent Bullants line-up to score and swing momentum in their favor.
No-one could wipe the smile off Potter’s face after the match as he embraced the players, congratulated them and reflected on the final moments of the game.
“It was a good feeling (when Ben Nason kicked the winning goal) but I still thought there was 5 or 6 minutes to go in the quarter,” he said.
“I didn’t get caught up in it. When the siren went it was a bit of shock, relief, excitement and all those things put together.”
Despite not kicking off the game on the right note, Potter believed his players were able to get over the line if they all put the effort in.
“It was a poor start but at the same time there was signs that our work rate was there where it wasn’t existent last week,” he said.
“I thought our third quarter was the real critical quarter, we outscored them by one point and we had more of the ball and we closed down their contested marks.”
Potter praised the efforts of Sam Power (33 possessions, two goals) and Tom Hislop (24 possession, one goal) but was impressed with Ben Clifton’s tagging role on Carlton young gun, Ed Curnow.
“Curnow was getting pretty frustrated and trying to shake the tag by going forward and going off but I thought Benny was pretty disciplined with Ed Curnow,” he said.
This week Coburg host Box Hill Hawks and will hope to get a second consecutive win. Creating a successful culture is what the club is aiming for and Potter is hoping the young batch of players coming through will remain for the long haul.
“We are starting to get a core group of players together and hopefully we will be around for a few more years to come.”

The Blues are having a sook about the game as well....
CARLTON was left fuming with the tagging tactics applied to out-of-form midfielder Ed Curnow in the VFL on Saturday.
Blues development coach Darren Harris said he was "pretty frustrated" at the constant niggling of the rookie revelation and a lack of support from the umpires.
"He got tagged really heavily, and we were pretty frustrated with the way he was treated," Harris, who also coaches Northern Bullants, said.
"The umpires have the duty to control a lot of that and I don't think they were aware of it as much as we were. I think those days (of illegal tagging) are just about gone."
Curnow was restricted to 16 touches, but he laid five tackles as Coburg stunned the Bullants by six points.
A handful of Coburg midfielders rotated through Curnow, including Richmond's Tom Hislop.

I was walking up Church St. Richmond shortly after the game when I spotted a bloke in a Blues beanie.
As I passed him, I said, "Coburg beat the Bullants today, yyyeeesss". I couldn't help myself ;D

The Coburg Report
richmondfc.com.au
Tue 02 Aug, 2011
Development coach, David Newett, provides a summary of how the Richmond-listed players performed at VFL level with Coburg in last Saturday’s stirring victory over the Northern Bullants.
Ben Nason
Worked his way into the match to create some good link-up. Didn’t have a big possession game, but it was an improvement on his form the previous week. Sealed the team’s win with his goal late in the final term.
Jamie O’Reilly
While not having a major impact on the game, he played well from a defensive perspective, keeping his opponents in check. Used the ball effectively, overall, when rebounding. An improved effort from his previous outing.
Jeromey Webberley
Generated many rebounds for the team with his good positioning and ball use. Worked hard to have an impact throughout the game, either by linking up play offensively, or applying pressure defensively.
Dean MacDonald
Played his best game for the season at senior VFL level. Performed his role admirably, using his pace to advantage, both offensively and defensively. Was involved in several scoring opportunities in a really positive display.
Jayden Post
Top performance in defence. Spoiled strongly and also took several fine marks to repel the Bullants’ forward movement. Accumulated 22 possessions and used the majority of them to the team’s advantage.
Tom Hislop
Very good display, highlighted by his work in the contested situations - winning the hard ball and tackling strongly. Took advantage of teammate Andrew Browne’s ruck dominance around the stoppages. Also provided outside run to link up play and generate scoring opportunities.
Matt Dea
Played on dangerous Bullants forward Ahmed Saad and did a good job in restricting him to just a couple of goals. Was strong in his actions, whether spoiling, tackling or marking. Offensively, showed composure with the ball, to cap off another solid game.
Robbie Hicks
Another who played his role well, using his pace to break the game open at various stages throughout. Had several shots for goal and worked hard to apply forward-line pressure.
Mitch Farmer
Played a very good defensive game. Was solid with his positioning and ability to impact contests. Won critical contests to thwart the opposition’s offensive thrusts. Rebounded well using foot skills to link up play and generate scoring opportunities.
Andrew Browne
Dominant display in the ruck. Won 37 hit-outs to give Coburg’s midfielders first use from the stoppages. Accumulated 21 possessions, due to good follow-up work. Worked hard throughout the game, led by example, and played a prominent role in setting up the victory.
Pat Contin
Returned to the side after a week off due to injury and, despite a quiet first half from a possession perspective, played his role well. Had a significant impact in the third term, with 11 possessions. Linked up play and used the ball effectively to create scoring opportunities. Finished off in the last quarter with some important touches.
Nick Westhoff (Coburg reserves)
Played his second game back from injury in Coburg’s reserves. Was used in a variety of roles, forward and through the midfield, and finished the match with a dozen possessions. Highlight of his performance was a fine snap goal from 45 metres out against a strong breeze.

O'Rielly, he played well ::) ::) ::) was shocking in all aspects.
Dea, didnt get near the ball at any stage, whether in offensive or defensive mode ::)

Webberley ,, how on earth can anyone say "'good ball use"' , he was the turnover king

Newey has played in premierships, won association B&Fs and coached a club to premierships. I reckons he's got more of a clue than most of us on here

No, your comments are garbage. Do you think he's going to come out and bag the poo out of our young players? Of course there's going to be a few comments that will be off the mark. You don't rubbish your players.

The Coburg Report
