Has Nason lost his touch??
-
Once the four RFC bench players are taken out it looks like the 10 remaining RFC players will play in the Coburg seniors this week.
Has Nason lost his touch??
Came into the season underdone with a interrupted preseason from memory and has struggled all year. He's too small and lightweight and doesn't have any special tricks such as elite skills or lightning speed and acceleration to compensate. Hicks is another that is way too small and lightbodied.
-
i dont swallow this concept of players being too small.
while a side could have too many small players, just as they could have too many tall players, all sides do have have small players.
The bottom line is the ability of the players and we lack quality of all sizes.

FF says Westhoff is playing in the Coburg seniors so there were no RFC players in the ressies.
-
FF says McGuane and Browne best so far. O'Reilly and Hicks doing ok. Carnell has 3 goals.
Griffiths, Nason, Contin, and Westhoff also playing.
No Webberley.
-
FF?
-
watched the first half. inspiring play by Carnell got us in front at half time. McGuane and Browne very good. Fev dangerous. Not much from nason. Willy Wheeler is a ripper. Irish was oK.
-
FF = FishFinger, Danog.
3/4 time
Coburg Tigers 3.1 8.5 14.7-91
Casey Scorpions 4.2 7.5 12.7-79
-
FF said Fevola kicked a goal on the siren (approx. his 5th) to bring the margin back to a two goal lead to Coburg. Hicks kicked two sensational goals that quarter.
-
No Webberley.
Most likely Webbs is just being the spare 23rd man for tomorrow but it wouldn't surprise me if he's a late change for Jacko.
-
Coburg won :thumbsup
Coburg Tigers 3.1 8.5 14.7 18.9 (117)
Casey Scorpions 4.2 7.5 12.7 15.12 (102)
-
Fahey was on Fev first before Tanner moved onto him. So it doesn't sound like McGuane played FB. The VFL twitter said Carnell had 4 goals to 3/4 time.
-
Good win by Coburg. If Sandy beats Box Hill tomorrow, the Burgers will be just a game outside of the top 8.
-
Great to hear Coburg beat Casey :thumbsup

Now thats what I like to see, coburg with a good win and 4 of the 6 best players are RFC listed.
The more that happens the better off we'll be.

Continstar on BF:
Contin - 31 touches, brilliant game, was really clean with ball use
O'Rielly - 25 touches, 1 goal, really attacking performance, did a fantastic job, disposal occasionally unimpressive but overall really good
Browne - 24 touches, 31 hit outs, 1 goal, another good performance, him and graham can both perform quite well at this level, but can't carry the form to AFL
White - 20 touches, 1 goal, good running through midfield, great disposal too
McGuane - 19 touches, looked out of sorts early but settled well and was solid for the rest of the game, even ran forward showing speed to kick a point at one stage
Hicks - 18 touches, 5 goals, huge performance, all 5 in the second half, and all of them were well taken, looks a much more confident player since he got given a run in the seconds
Nason - 10 touches, was pretty quiet, played lot of the game around half back
Griffiths - 8 touches, 1 goal, didn't impact a lot but showed his booming kick on a couple of occasions, still looks promising
Westhoff - 5 touches, 1 goal, good early start, then disappeared for ages, reappeared in the third, then disappeared again, just couldn't get involved

If he can repeat that form next week then Contin should be given a game for Richmond before the season is out.
-
McGuane - even ran forward showing speed to kick a point at one stage
McGUN
3 year extension
-
Left at half time - I was bored ;D
From what i saw Westhoff isn't up to senior VFL standard let alone AFL - time to move him on
-
glad to hear 2 rookies in contin and O'rielly are showing a bit....Irish has had a crap year with injury blocking the momentum he should have been able to get from his late season debut in 2010. Hopefully he can come in for a couple fo games, could be an ideal BP in 2012 to play that lock down role on small forwards
-
Development coach, David Newett, provides a summary of how the Richmond-listed players performed at VFL level with Coburg in last Saturday’s win against the Casey Scorpions.
Ben Nason
Was well held by his opponent throughout most of the match, but did make a contribution to the team with his defensive acts. Broke loose in the last quarter to have some offensive impact.
Jamie O’Rielly
Excellent game in his return to the wing position. Not only quelled a dangerous opponent in James Wall, he also accumulated 25 possessions, was involved in many offensive chains, and capped off his performance with an impressive goal. Showed the form that saw him earn his AFL debut this time last year.
Robbie Hicks
The small forward was back to his best, booting five goals (all in the second half) from his 18 possessions. Read the play well and used his speed to get to dangerous positions to make the most of any loose balls.
Andrew Browne
Continued his impressive form at VFL level with another dominant display in the ruck. Gathered 31 possessions, had 31 hit-outs, scored a goal, and took several strong contested marks.
Pat Contin
His best game for the season. Had a major impact around the stoppages, in offensive chains, and applying defensive pressure. Was outstanding in the second quarter with 15 possessions and an involvement in several Coburg scores.
Nick Westhoff
Returned to the senior VFL team, playing as a third tall. Was involved in several scoring chains and kicked one himself to finish off the game.
Matthew White
Displayed AFL quality traits in the midfield and up forward. Was consistent across the four quarters and had a significant impact around the stoppages. Used his pace well and showed good composure with the ball to bring teammates into the game. Capped off his performance with a goal.
Ben Griffiths
Returned from injury and provided a strong contest as a key forward. Took some good marks, kicked a goal and had other scoring involvements.
Luke McGuane
Used his experienced to hold together a good defensive unit that repelled many Casey attacking moves. Had 19 possessions and used the ball to the team’s advantage, generating offensive patterns.

Andrew Browne
Continued his impressive form at VFL level with another dominant display in the ruck. Gathered 31 possessions, had 31 hit-outs, scored a goal, and took several strong contested marks.
31 possessions and 31 hit outs is an outstanding game by a ruckman by any measure. He is still only young, especially in ruck terms, and it is just a matter of time and experience before he is performing to this standard at AFL level. Definitely worth persisting with.
