Matthew Lloyd on 'One Week at a Time' just gave Richmond his "sledgehammer" saying 4-5 weeks ago the media questioned whether Richmond had improved this year and clearly now they haven't.
The show then put up a bunch of stats from Rounds 14-20:
Lost by an average of 50 points (16th)
Conceded 116 pts per game (15th)
59 tackles per game (last)
41 inside 50s (16th)
-3.9 clearances differential (16th)
Lost to the Gold Coast
Lloyd said these sort of things in footy are non-negotiables and these stats show it's not just a youth issue but the players are simply not working hard enough. He bagged Lids for telling the media that we are where we expected to me. He said that accepting attitude has existed for too long at Richmond. Hardwick is working his guts out but the players are letting him down and need to lift and work harder.

hes probably right ,but i cant listen to his opinion any more after he went crying because matty told him he might not be able to hold down FF any more
-
Really Mathew, hell, I didn't realise we hadn't improved...this is a complete shock to me, my God your observent!!!!! ::) ::)
The tackle count does concern me though considering last year we broke the record for the most tackles in a game and were the highest tackle count team or there abouts in the league.
I also don't like the fact that we still conceed massive amounts of points.
When will our clearances improve... :help
-
if Dimma is not getting senior players to work hard enough then he is not doing the job he said he would.
I agree with Lloyd. That was rubbish talk Lids.
-
Lloyd still bitter about the Dreamtime game it seems.
With young players tiring and us losing up and coming players like Grimes to injuries we've had to return to the same old players that aren't up to it as we have no depth. We look like a side which is gone mentally and can't wait until the end of the season. The test for the club wasn't onfield this year as we knew we'd still struggle big time; it is more about what we do at the end of the season with the list. Those who were saved by contracts after Dimma's first year in charge should be delisted/traded off this year.

Richmond have improved & we dont need some smoker from another club telling us different. No 1 cares

Agree with the comment "it is more about what we do at the end of the season with the list". If we get rid of alot of deadwood at the end of the season then we will have improved.

This is true
But reading the HUN this morning about it being such a thin draft I'm wondering if culling by any club will cut as deep as it should :-\
-
Anyone with half a brain could see we haven't improved .the list management is a disgrace .the hislop issue and the signing of Luke McGaune last year to a 3 year contract just proves that..you ain't going to improve as a club if you continually draft the wrong players or waste draft selections and hope the new recruit turns the corner eg Taylor and Roberts
-
Might further say any improvement should be measured by players 23-38 on thel list.this group of players has gone backwards.no one has stepped up in to the best 22.there lies the problem.
-
and in other ground breaking news Julia Gillard is leading opinion polls :lol

The thing is with a bit of luck we will pick up a player or 2 in this draft late. There is meant to be a strong 30-40 players of which we have 2 picks and then we should be able to hopefully steal a young player wanting to come home as we are first VIC team in PSD pick up a state leaguer and if we can nail one more kid in the main draft then that's alot better than keeping all the no hopers we have.
-
More like the draft is strong for the first 10-12 and the rest will be hit and miss.

Yep, spot on TM. :thumbsup
-
Lloyd has not improved since retirement.
He's still a idiot-licker. :thumbsup
-
The guy is borderline wacko as well as the fact his balls still haven't dropped yet.
-
he was a tool when he was a player and an even bigger one now he is in the media.
Hes pulling cummings under the table or tim watson, I hope they make the finals cause they will be the one undeserving punching bag to be not only destroyed by blows
but ripped apart like wet viva towels
-
dud delist. see media draft thread
-
lol Lloyd always looks as though he is constipated as he struggles to fire the few neurons he possesses and formulate semi coherent sentences. Either that or he looks completely bewildered by the world around him.
-
very wooden. and i never forgave him not headbutting Gaspar properly
-
Just look at how he marvels at a blade of grass that he discovered when tying up his shoe laces! Only five minutes later he would be marveling at the very same thing, like an infant...

Perceptive call. I met him a few years ago when he was fresh faced and I swear he reminded me of Simple Jack from Tropic Thunder.

Good player, terrible captain

Mike Sheahan joined the "Richmond hasn't improved" brigade earlier today. Richo however stood up for the Club by saying while we all get judged by wins/losses, Richmond has improved as everyone has had an extra year to learn and know what they are doing, Vickery has come on and Cotchin, while not where he could end up yet, has finally had a full preseason under his belt and had his best year so far. Richo also said it's hard to play midfield when you know you'll never have first use of the ball because we don't have a quality ruckman. Us recruiting a ruckman and another defender would help us a lot in 2012. Mike and BT replied "so you're bagging Graham and Browne?" to which Richo said no as they are doing their best but they just can't compete at this stage.
-
Tell it as it is Richo, Thats the way the supporters like to hear it come out :thumbsup
-
good answer by richo.
would have stuffed those smarmy pricks as they thought they had him cornered.
who gives an eff what other people think about where we are at anyway?
I'd prefer to be under estimated than over estimated.
