Title: Seriously! Why Haven't Richmond Extended Deledio's Contract?
Post by: torch on August 27, 2011, 09:19:38 AM
Why hasn't Richmond Deledio's contract??? He will fall under the free agency scheme!

Seriously, the longer nothing has been done, the greater the chance he will walk out of Richmond!

The club should offer 4 year deal for Deledio IMHO.

Maybe he doesn't want to extend it yet? And why would he when he can ask for whatever he wants late next season when the rumors are about that every club is after him. I think it's good work on behalf of his his manager.
At the end of the day if he is committed to us he will stay, if not good luck to him, next years draft is shaping up to be a cracker, the more early picks we have the better.

Seriously, he's contracted for next season so he isn't going anywhere in 2012 so why the rant

and seriously how do you know that the club isn't working on a deal with his management? Just because it's not splattered all over the papers doesn't mean nothing is happening.

Personally I can't see him leaving as I've said many times... just like my gut feel was cotch wouldn't leave

Seriously, you need to chill torch  ;D

My understanding is that we have all the tea in china to match any deal from another club if he were to leave under free agency. So if the deal is good enough to us, we trade him. If not he stays. Personally, I think it is in both the club and lids interest to wait until mid- late next year.

He won't leave if we are genuine mid table and we wouldn't let him.

If we continue to tread water at the bottom of the ladder, it might be in both interests to ket him go

The other thing too is the fact the salary cap for next year & beyond isn't set yet because the CBA isn't completed.

Clubs & player managers are in case sin limbo land as to what is available

This thread is dumb. He's not out of contract for another 14 months.

If this time next season we're lamenting another failed 'rebuild' I seriously wouldnt begrudge him a move elsewhere - for adequate compensation of course  ;)

Yep. 8 years of no finals i wouldn't blame him if we were around 14th again. He's probably worth 2 firsties which along with our pick 5 would give us 6 and 12. as well as our compo for tambling and possibly a Nahas one and a 2nd rounder. If in a super draft we have picks 5, 6, 12, 22, 23, 35 roughly and stuff it up then u can see why he left and why others will leave lol.

I think we will finish 7-10 and he will re-sign but he is being smart and giving himself an option.
