The club is also understood to be close to finalising new two-year deals with Jake King and Robin Nahas. King, suspended in controversial circumstances this week, also had a 16-game trigger clause that he has achieved for 2012 but should instead receive a revised two-year offer.

Nahas deserves 2 years because he played the season out. King only 1 because for 3 months he hasnt done anything.
-
If we become a side of some chop over the next few years I feel that only one of them will be in the 22. Judging from form this year it will be Nahas.
Can't fit too many mosquitoes in our side hence blokes like Nason will probably be moved on this year.

correct.
he has played probably 2 good quarters in the past 3 months

:banghead If we're going to be any good then King should start to be pushed down to Coburg soon. Give him one year FFS. Hasn't had a kick in months
-
King's contract should be looked at a year by year process.
This is the stuff Craig Cameron should be on top of.
-
Nahas 2 years, King 1 year. Id like to see both of these players pushed out of the 22 within that time frame also by more talented players :thumbsup

It's decisions like these that make you scratch your head and question the Club's ability to judge our list. Keeping one of them (Nahas my preference) for 2 years may make sense but both is just perplexing ???. Kingy is a limited footballer who has done nothing since round 10 - just 6 goals from 10 games in a poor return from a small forward. At best he should be offered a year as a two-year deal could end up with us having another list clogger. Nahas despite his deficiencies (no left foot, small bodysize) at least has delivered throughout the whole year and may end up in the B&F top 5 so there's an argument for offering him two years. All up though I really don't see either being part of our next premiership. IMO we need classier small and midsized forwards around Jack, Vickery and eventually Griffiths.

Crazy thing is he was guaranteed another year as he had triggered the 16 game gets another contract clause.
So why deviate from that?
Seems strange, unless of course with a 2 year deal the club thinks that looking him for 2 years means that if GWS comes a knocking they can trade him rather than lose him for nothing :-\

We'd get a compensation pick if GWS wanted Kingy. I wouldn't say no.

I understand that but the AFL's record with compo picks is strange to say the least
At least with him being contracted then we can fight for the pick as oppsed tothe AFL saying pick number 110 ;D

Gee we gone sour on Kingy all of a sudden?
-
fickle bunch on here Owl.
Good teams need depth players, people. And right now these two are far from depth players. Both deserve new contracts.
Nahas would get a game at most teams I reckon. much improved.
With Kingy, If he is pushed out of the team by 2013, which is no certainty, at least you know he will set the standard for endevour and intensity at Coburg. Nothing wrong with that.

He has done eff all since about round 11. Why reward inconsistency with a two year contract? One will do. Sick of us signing people to good deals when they don't deserve it. FWIW, I thought Kingy was pretty good last year and really good for a little bit this year. Doesn't change the fact he's been poo for a few months.
-
Absolute madness to offer King a two year contract
-
I think yall bein a bit rough on the little chimp personally, he brings a lot to games and yeah like most players he has had a form slump, could of been the 'death threat' debacle being a distraction, who knows. JR8 had a rotten slump too but we not gonna offload him as well are we?
-
Since when did you become soft ;D
-
ahh im all mellow tonight, just got home from a funeral.
-
Jack is 22 and still has improvement left in him and would be considered close to an A-grader; Kingy is 27 so what we see now is the best we are going to get from him.

True WP we can;t know for sure what we would get but I think with Kingy playing 33 of our past 34 games means he should be considered in our best 22 by the AFL when they judge his trade value he should be at least a 2nd rounder if not a end of first rounder.

Fantastic game and year for Nahas. Huge improvement in all areas of his game, very impressed. We missed king tonight as we had to play White as his replacement :help
-
I would try and trade King. Nahas has proven himself that he can play a full season now. King on the outs list wouldnt be a bad result for the RFC IMHO.
-
Rockin Robin was on fire. Probably his best game I would think.
