So which three players have been the most important to our improvement this year?
Why have you chosen them over the others?
Have I left someone off who you feel should be on the list?
Is there someone who you feel will be more important in the future who is not now?
Change your vote if others can convince you to alter your opinion.

Interesting to see that, so far, Houli has been rated the second most important player for Richmond this year after Cotchin. I would have thought Vickery, Lids or even Martin would have taken that honour...

you dont have angus graham on there or the great daniel jackson?

Cotchin has been the most significant without doubt, he has led from the front, Lids right there with him, is a quieter achiever but no less important to us. I love that the media don't gush over our guns too much, it keeps them honest and it keeps them affordable. Let them keep gushing over Judd and Ablett and keep forking over millions to keep them too. People have undersold the importance of Jack and how much heat he takes from others so they can score imo. If we didn't have Jack, there would be trouble, Vickers has stepped up big time but Jack is a big part of why our forward line has gained so much strength.

I'd rance did his knee round 1 I doubt we would have won a game.

Grimes was flying when he did his hammy and was really making a difference to the side. If I remember correctly it took a little while for Rance to step up and fill the void left by Grimes.
Grimes getting injured may have been a good thing in the long run since it may have helped Rance's development. Having them both fit next year will make a big difference to our back structure IMO.

Could be right about Rance's development without Grimes though Rance seemed to be coming on even with Grimes presence. I would suggest that with more support and time together, Rance and Grimes will become better players together and individually.
No love for Foley or Jack?

The vote lists players who have made a positive difference and is a good list.
The problem is the players who aren't on the list and these are the ones who make a difference to our result through their ineptness and seeming inability or desire to do something.
Players that have cost us week in and week out throughout the season.
For me players that have made a difference through improvement are Ty, Dusty and Rance.
Lids and Cotch are champions anyway. They have performed well at their level but have they made a difference??

I went with Vickery, Rance and Nahas.
Rance because he held down full back and managed to develop and improve at the same time.
Vickery and Nahas because they provided us with multiple avenues to goal, which in the long term is going to be far more important than the expected natural development of the midfield.

A tough question to answer if limited to 3 options.
Cotch - his class is now backed up with better fitness thanks to finally getting a preseason under his belt. Just a rolls royce.
Lids - I still have Lids as our No.1 player. Unfortunately he can't play everywhere at once.
Houli - his rebounding run and precise footskills off half-back was from a tactical point of view becoming damaging and opposition coaches started to target him with a stopper midway through the season. I reckon that had some effectdor a little while diminishing the whole side's running capacity during that midseason slump.
Apologies to Dusty, Rance and Jack. Dusty is a matchwinner; Rance became our No.1 key defender; while Jack is still our No.1 forward and goalkicker.

Think your spot on about Houli there, MT. I doubt it was coincidence that when the opposition started to pay him more attention and shut him down that our performances dropped right off
-
Dusty is our game breaking unstoppable X factor. I still have to rub my eyes that we have that bloke in our side and that he pulls off some of the things he does. I am also going to add something that is gonna just burn a few peoples gullets but... I like how Edwards can steal possession and turn the ball around for us, he does it a lot. He has created a lot of plays for us this year, his muff ups stand out for a lot of folks but he has a lot of up to him.
-
Great thing about Houli going forward is that he may just free up Lids to spend far more time in the middle. Will mean our good ball users out of defence will be Newman, Batchelor and Houli.
-
Cotchin.
Has class and leadership something we lack with some of these old school footballers on our list.

Bachar has brought something to this side that we've lacked in the past. Has made a massive difference to our team this year.
