The obligatory end of season poll ;D.
How did you rate our season all up?
-
I rate it along-side 90% of our seasons since 1980.

In 3 months we'll have our best list since 1980 too

Thats a big call, considering what we achieved in 1995 and 2001

Get the hand off the prick.
In 1980 we had Seniors,Reserves and under 19s dominating the competition and a plethora of Gun forwards.
As if. lol

Another year without finals.
Do not forget the losses to Port Adelaide and Gold Coast.
Hardwick made excuses for our forum slump.
Pointless wins towards the end of the season.
A decent start to the year and fell away MASSIVELY.
We were the worse team for a few weeks which people forget!
Not all was horrible ...
Conca, Martin, Vickery, Cotchin, Nahas, Grimes!
Houli was good and Grigg was OK when he went in hard!
Riewoldt had a good season and King had a good 3-5 matches.
Disappointing Hardwick didn't play Tuck and Morton in their proper positions.
Edwards, Jackson, Farmer, McGuane, Browne, Taylor, Hislop have to be DELISTED or TRADED!
Thursfield i keep and Graham has depth players and get a ruckman and key backman.
McGuane needs to be traded!

Lol.

1965 wouldn't be happy with Hardwick making excuses for the forum slump :lol

In a recent press-conference OER coach Damien Hardwick has attributed OER's poor run of form with a rise in public crack consumption and the problems associated with giving clueless jerks a means of voicing their opinion.
-
I thought we went as expected, with the curve heading up.
The big test is whether it continues up next year and puts us in the 8, otherwise Hardwick will be under huge pressure and probably gone.

as seen above

I gave us a solid 7.
We have kept to our developing strategy. We've seen some of our players(Vickery, Martin and others) step up and improve on consistency.
-
will not rate our season until the end of the draft period.
-
Daniel is correct.
Ive gone a 5, but in actual fact this could be anything between 3 and 6 really. Depending on the trade period.
I cant work out why so many have gone 7. We were disgraceful for a huge period in the middle of the year
Rounds 10 to 20 came up with the following -
Lost to Port by 15
Lost to Swans by 10 (competitive effort, worthy of a 6, possibly 7??)
Beat Brisbane by 31
Lost to Melb by 27
Lost to Carlton by 103
Lost to Essendon by 39 after having them on the rack
Lost to Gold Coast by 15
Lost to Geelong by 62
Lost to WCE by 57
Looking back ive been generous with a 5. How on earth is the above worth a pass mark.
To have a 9 week period like that and rating a season a 7 is accepting rubbish unacceptable inept football.
A few individual efforts from players like Rance, Vickery, Cotch, Houli etc etc and their improvements cant gloss over the crap we were dished up.
I understand we are young, and have limited experience. But losing to Port, Melbourne and Gold Coast in that period is no good. Simple fact is for 11 weeks (2 byes in the above time) of a 24 week season, NEARLY 50%, we WERE the worst team in the league.

Apart from the bit about Hardwick being gone - I cannot see that happening
Agree with TBR

I thought we saw some players find their feet in Vickers, Nahas, and Rance. We found a real gem in Bachar Houli. We also can see the astute choices in picking up Miller as a depth player up forward, he has been valuable. Conca played some terrific football as a first year player, he will be a gem. We have some recuperating players to add back into the fold with a lot of promise in Grimes and Griff and even Astbury. We were never going to be winning a flag this year so playing finals and risking the injuries involved with that sort of pressure just yet is probably not worth it anyway. When we do get there we will be ready to make a difference rather than just getting beaten up and thrown out in the first set. I gave us a five but I think I was a bit of a stingy bastard to be honest.

Agree with most of the comments by Torch. I would give them a 5 at the moment. Impressed by Martin, Lids, Cotchin and Houli. Grigg was okay. Vickery, King, Nahas and Rance really improved and had a good year. Grimes, Conca, Batchelor and Helbig have promising futures. If we trade well my assessment of the year will go up. Need a ruckman, key position backman, and would like a x factor player and an another inside mid. Form slump in middle was a real concern. Very disappointing loses to Gold Coast Port Adelaide and Carlton. Good wins against Essendon, Adelaide and Sydney.

If Collingwood is a 9 and Port Adelaide is a 2....I would have to give Richmond a score of 4 and a half :whistle
I'm feeling pretty happy with the way things are tracking after we were 0-9 last year and being compared to Fitzroy
Going into this season we all knew that Lids/Cotch/Martin and Jack were all guns so to see Vickery and Rance develop this year bodes well for the future.
