I think they would be keeping an eye on Lids if his contract runs out next year.

Rumor has it he has been offered a lot more than we can but he is still trying to decide because he would want to stay with us as we are clearly getting better.. its really a choice between money or future finals/success

i dont blame him if he leaves

Make sure he wins the B&F this year to bump up his compensation.
Seriously, surely he wouldnt want to go back to being a cellar dwellar for another 4-5 years?
Assuming of course that we start to come good after 30 years of pain !!

Lets be realistic, he can secure his future financially or he can be a one club champ.  At the end of the day both prospects are tantalising but money talks and bs walks.

Rumour has it........ please give me a break

He is contracted so therefore no other club is allowed to speak to him directly ..... rumour has it.....

he is contracted so really right now there is nothing for him to decide

They can have them both, will do a direct swap for their last pick in the National Draft!

Lids will not be going anywhere  :shh

Lets get fair dinkum here though WP... this rule is not really something they have applied in the past when it has come to GWS or GC for that matter

Agree Owl.

But:

1/ I think this is the 3rd thread we have had on the topic of Deledio & GWS.....

2/ Deledio has a contract so why bother dragging it up time and time again, especially with the reliable words "rumour has it" which means zippo TBBH when it is clearly a non issue right now

3/ and finally as I've said many times IMHO Lids wont be going anywhere

Pringles are top of the range and it won't be Smiths either. I'd say it will be for a packet of grain waves . Grain waves look and taste like chips but aren't chips just like these two they masquerade as footballers but really they are nothing close to resembling footballers.

Seriously i doubt we have had a better kick ofthe footy than lids in 30 years and i would say losing him would be masive

My source says that we are looking at a toss up between a full packet of home brands original, or half a packet of burger rings.

And to make the trade fairer, we will chuck in our last pick in the ND.

Honestly I reckon the last person to leave the club would be Deledio.

You don't go through 6 years of utter poo to jump ship when it starts to show promise to a club that will be poo for 3 years. Just can't see it happening.

If he wanted out I'd expect him to be asked to to be traded to Carlton.

Why Carlton? Because he supported them as a kid?
People with romantic notions on kids playing for teams they barrack for - dreamtime stuff.
Unless you Maric, a massive Tiger fan as a kid ;D

Doesn't his Dad or Uncle have some connection to them? Played for them or their reserves or something.

Agree though, don't think Lids would have any particular pull to Carlton in particular.

Yep one game for the Blues in 1975 against Fitzroy at the Junction Oval.

http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/players/W/Wayne_Deledio.html

Wayne Deledio, at 186cm and 86 kilos, and wearing #22 on his back, played his only game at VFL / AFL level with Carlton in Season 1975. Deledio headed to VFA club Brunswick for the start of the 1977 season. He was recruited from Dunolly. He is the brother of Ron Deledio and the father of Richmond's Brett Deledio. In 2004, his son Brett would be a #1 Draft Pick for Richmond.

Brett's uncle Ron Deledio was also at Carlton at the same time as Brett's dad but only played ressies.

And a pic of Brett's dad when playing for Avoca
