At this time of the year each year we normally discuss the future of players on the fringe. First up is Thursty.
Will just completed his 7th season at Punt Rd with 77 games under his belt. After we couldn't find a trade for him last year and starting 2011 at Coburg, he finished off the season working his way back into the seniors and playing in the last 9 matches.

Hes been ok.. Id give him one more year.
Delist Mcshit
-
I reckon they will try and trade if they can't do that they'll keep
Extremely disappointing year from Will
-
Thought he was solid apart from a few games. Better than McGuane at least. Trade.
-
Can't stand him as a player. Wouldn't be on any other list in the comp. Delist already.
-
get rid of him (https://imageshackau.com/sports/131/b/happy.gif)(https://imageshackau.com/sports/133/b/happy.gif)

Thursty used to wear skins? He looked like he was going to be a good player back then. Maybe it is the skins? He needs them to be at his best? ;D
I am Owl.

Yeh.
Keep. He can do a job like miller did in the forward tall postion being the older back up. Rance. Grimes. AstbUry. Post are very young. Moore might be shot.
I would look to delist. Mcgaune. Taylor. Gourdis. Miller. Westhoff first.
-
Would keep. Plays well on small forwards. Would delist McGuane first
-
McGuane wont be delisted becaus ehe has a contract
Will may get delisted because he doesn't
I'd certainly try and trade
-
Try to trade, if nothing can be done then delist. Mcguane in the same boat next season when his contract is up.
-
Delist.
Noone wanted him last year when he wanted a trade and I think the same will occur this year.
Shouldn't be on the list in 2012.

Fremantle were sniffing last year, trade fell over at the last moment I believe?
They might want him again, would allow Broughton to play more through the middle.

Agree. Trade or keep. Think Goo and McGuane will be gone next year. Moore may retire this year. Will be a depth player or delisted next year if Goo's kicking improves. :help
-
Wouldn't be surprised if Will's future depends on the clubs success in trying to ship off McGuane / whether or not Kel Moore recovers from his latest bout of hip surgery.
If Kel doesn't respond well to the latest batch of surgery, forced retirement would seem likely.
Should he retire, I would be looking to keep Will for one more year. Too many others that need to go before him.
-
I'd keep him. Handy depth player. Moore looks like retiring and Gourdis looks like getting delisted. So that makes Mcguane and Thursfield handy depth players

Manager Anthony McConville says Will Thursfield may get squeezed out of the Tigers but they're still working with Richmond.

Here's more....
n the same position as Macaffer is Richmond's Will Thursfield, who is also managed by McConville.
The defender has been informed that there won't be a place for him at the Tigers next season unless others are traded.
"It's a similar situation to Brent in that Will's preferred option is to remain at Richmond, but it could be a situation where he might get squeezed out," McConville said.
"At the moment I'm keeping all his options open, speaking to other clubs and seeing what could come available with regards to trades and thereafter.
"We're still working through that with Richmond, and obviously they've got players up for trade at the moment.
"If those come to fruition, hopefully it might give an opportunity for Will to remain at Richmond."

Would rather keep Will than Gourdis or McGuane. Hopefully McGuane is traded.

Agree, all 3 arent the answer but I'd prefer to see Thursfield than Gourdis and we need McGuane off the list to free up some $.
-
why would we need to free up $$$ when we read we are struggling to pay the min cap required
-

Maybe to land a 'big fish' when Free Agency comes in next year? Maybe to heavily front load our stars contracts so we can fit more into the cap in a few years time! ;)
-
I get the feeling that Hardwick only wants one of them at the club next year.
If Maguane goes to Brisbane, Thursty will stay.
If the Maguane trade falls through, Thursty will get the boot.
Hopefully we can get something for Maguane.
-
Am happy to see McGuane traded out for a pick or Tommy Rockliff or James Polkinghorne
and to keep Thursty as insurance cover.
-
You wont get Rockliff for McGuane LMAO
He won their B&F
He's been made vice captain
And pretty sure he just re-signed to 2014
We had a chance to draft him but took Tom Hislop :banghead
-
keep - better than mcguane
-
Get rid of McGuane.
-
how on earth would gourdis save his spot

Really, unaware of that. :thumbsup

it is called a contract

It's looking like Thursty, Nason and Morton will be delisted if we can't trade them or in Thursty's case someone else (McGuane) out. Thursty will hardly be a significant loss but Goo and McGuane should go before him and they are only being kept on due to their contracts :scream. Hello two list cloggers in 2012 :scream.
-
Anybody know much about Tommy Walsh, see article below...If the Dee's pay overs for Mitch Clarke that leaves us and sydney interested in this kid...apparently.

So was I untill recently. Was a huge wrap for him as a junior and was gutted we didn't roll the dice with him late in the draft.
Started slowly and struggled with fitness early doors at Brissy but it started to click for him last year and I knew he'd come back to bite us on the pecker.
He had an even better year this year after being elevated to the leadership group but I was unaware he was made VC – then he won the bloody B&F!!!!
Gun.
Missed a trick again Tiges :(
Ohhhhhh Tommy Tommy
Tommy Tommy Tommy Tommy Hissssss Slop Slop

Can pass on that Hissy will be at Tigerland again in 2012. Mature rookie :thumbsup

Well I would be happy to give Will another year if we can't trade him, I think he needs continuity to improve in games, not in one week out the next...he was actually playing good football a couple of years back until personal issues derailed him...
Lets give him another shot, would delist a few more before him.
-
Trade if possible, if not keep for depth
-
What were his personal issues WAT?
-
I'm pretty sure he's battled CFS for a while.....
(crap footballer syndrome)
-
When did he have issues? Wasn't that meant to be Hughes and Gourdis?
-
Yeah look he did have some personnel issues that obviously affected the way he played, he hasnot been right since..
-
I like Thursfield and see a future for him at the RFC.
Plenty more evidence in this thread as to why a change is needed in football management.
-
that personal issue wouldnt be an buggered knee would it?
-
You didn't lather him up did you WAT :rollin :lol
