Abit surprising seeing how I thought Demon's was going after a senior experienced coach after the Bailey experiment.
Maybe they might not of had the appeal they thought they had.
-
i reckon you're on the money with that last statement.
Lyon has packed up and moved to what is basically another country rather than coach them for big bucks.
I used to grow all sorts of nasty cultures for a living, but nothing like what Melbourne has achieved..
Suck it up princesses!

Collingwood assistant Mark Neeld has been anointed as the new coach of the Melbourne Football Club.
Neeld will be announced as the Demons’ new coach as early as tomorrow after the sub-committee charged with finding a replacement for Dean Bailey settled on the Collingwood man in recent days.
Melbourne directors are being told of the decision this afternoon and are expected to ratify the choice.

It's an early call, but for Caro, she's got the scoop.
Must be a strange feeling for her ;D

Wasn't that early.
Mike Sheahan article was posted at 3.59pm.
Caro's was nearly an hour behind.

Garry Lyon on MMM confirmed Melbourne will make their announcement on who is the new coach tomorrow.

Melbourne obviously followed a very different process to most clubs in recent years which usually involved multiple interviews between a short list of candidates spread over weeks. Cynically it looks like they couldn't get Malthouse so they just went for his assistant. The question now is whether Neeld will have to deal and be able to work within a fractured inner sanctum at Melbourne.

It's official. Neeld with a 3-year deal to coach Melbourne.

It'll be a tough gig. You would think Demon fans and board are expecting finals appearances in the next 2 years if not possibly next year.
-
The Melbourne Board will be expecting finals next year. They were expecting to play finals this year which is why Bailey got the sack.
I see Neeld has had to leave the Pies immediately. Hopefully that stuffs up Collingwood's preparation as he was their midfield coach. The same thing happened to the Pies in 2009 when Brad Scott got the North gig.

Now demons announce: Scott West, Mark Williams gone as assistant coaches and High performance manager Joel Hocking also gone
Robbo's twitter
No surprise that Neeld will want to bring his own team.
