Tigers fined for salary cap breach
THE AFL has fined Richmond $10,000 for breaching the salary cap through an "administrative error".
AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson said the Tigers breached the AFL Player Rules during the 2010 season.
The AFL’s investigations manager Ken Wood found that the club had breached the Total Player Payment lodgement rules through an administrative error.
Anderson said Richmond had "advised the AFL of all required information, implemented improved administrative procedures and these matters had been taken into account regarding the penalty".

More like Kenneth Starr.
We'll be impeached.
-
Jokes on them. Add it to the debt that the AFL is paying for :lol
-
makes me sick to the core to read this, who's responsible for the stuff up', should be deducted from their package
-
Went for a job at RFC a few years ago didn't get the job, if this is the work of the people that were employed ahead of me, I'm going really well lol.
-
Rather than find the who and punish them, why not find out why and ensure it never happens again?

know how you feel popey i have that attitude over the years when i saw the finacial collapse of a number of blue chips and i thought stuff me , and i still couldnt get a gig with those losers :lol

Problem is that from memory this isnt the first time over the last years and its happened again at a time when the club wants money from the members for the fighting fund. Its a poor look. And whoever is responsible should be made to pay it out of their salary, indeed if its happened a 2nd time which is what Im thinking then maybe its time to let that person go and wish them all the best in a new job.

Although I agree it isn't a good look in fairness for memory I reckon it might be the 2nd time in last 4-5 years we've been fined.
I think saying we've been caught "breaching the salary cap through an "administrative error" is pretty vague.
Seriously what does it mean exactly? Is this "administrative error" the same as the last one or is it something different?
As this has been handled by little Adrian A. I think it is fair assume he doesn't know what it means either but he saw a quick way to make $10k ;D

The worst performed Melbourne based afl club in past 20 years has salary cap breaches? WTF
-
It is how the news paper reported it, smart asses
Why wasn't reported as and administration error in the headline? Because 'SALARY CAP BREACH' gets all the nuffies writing comments in the HUN like why have they not been stripped of picks!!! lol coz the HUN readers mostly read headlines and not articles.

I would do both! :rollin

Bo, how many inches do you recommend?? ;D

Yeah, admin error in lodging forms not a salary cap breach. As most people know we only pay 92.5% of the salary cap anyway.

Thanks Mr RFC_O
Poor reporting by the media and the AFL ;D
As I said saying the Club has been caught "breaching the salary cap through an "administrative error" was pretty vague and wrong.
I knew we weren't over the cap so it was clear that we hadn't "breached" the cap per se.
Breaching the cap I would have thought means you pay more than the salary cap not stuffing up lodging paperwork ;D
The worst performed Melbourne based afl club in past 20 years has salary cap breaches? WTF
Yep lodging paperwork in correctly is a disgrace... someone made a mistake not really a news story TBBH. But good excuse for some to have whack for the sake of it .... ;D
-

Are we aiming to pay more than that next year?
Seems to me we should be front-ending a lot of contracts (and thus paying a higher cap percentage now) so that we have some room in the cap to retain players at around the same time that we are pushing for top 4?

Yeah, admin error in lodging forms not a salary cap breach. As most people know we only pay 92.5% of the salary cap anyway.
and even 92.5% is way too much, compared to performance over the past decades.
KPI,s at Punt Road would be of great interest. ::)

Should fine the media $10k for poor reporting. Isn't it almost bordering on defamation?
-
Isn't it almost bordering on defamation?
Sadly not Julz - poor reporting and a shocking headline absolutely but defamation nope
But the article itself is accurate under the rules any error in the TPP lodgements (including admin errors) are deemed a "breach"
and even 92.5% is way too much, compared to performance over the past decades.
KPI,s at Punt Road would be of great interest. ::)

Come on Taz what's that got to do with it.... ;D

The media wouldn't allow the truth to get in the way of a good story that the plebs would only understand. :shh

Question I ask.how does the club pay the fine? Out of the FTF where some poor sole has donated there hard earned cash ?????.don't we have accountants employed at the club that would double check these things .? The club are very good at debting our bank accounts each month

:lol :lol gee you are funny sometimes even when don't try to be. The accountants.. ::) I would think it isn't the finance depts job to check to see if the Footy Dept have lodged paperwork correctly with the AFL.
The fine will not be paid out ofthe FTF - those monies have been allocate. The club have explained where the FTF moneis are going time and time again.
The fine like any fine will come out of general operations and charged to the Footy dept

A stuff-up that shouldn't have happened and a waste of $10k but hardly a salary cap breach Herald-Sun ::). Brisbane were fined $20k for a clerical error as well earlier this year as have a number of clubs over the years.
Craig Cameron mentioned they were working through the TPP for 2012 and trying to get it all to balance when we went to the fan forum a month ago. Obviously someone didn't tick all the boxes for 2011 :P.

Doesn't anyone ''check the checker'' anymore ? :(
