Im tipping Cats more for the reason that I don't want collingwood to be premiers again than actually thinking they will win.

Cats for me quite easily as well.
Plus as I don't support The Skunks and therefore I automatically will go for The Cats.
Anyone but the Pies.

Some irony that after years of participating club members missing out on GF tickets due to the AFL favouring the corporate dollar instead that this year on-sellers are struggling to sell corporate packages.

Pies by 13
I like the cats as winners, but so does everyone else and thats when I have my doubts
I also dont agree with the cats being favourites with bookies and would put my money on the pies
Something strange about the best team not being backed after a tight two game form slump
They will be packing everything tomorrow to win

If collingwood loses however I will be very very happy  ;D

Go Cats... (feel dirty now)

Playing up to the crowd went down well :nope. The MCC members are obviously big Meatloaf fans :nope .

Btw waiting for the day we're finally there and our theme song is being sung at the GF. It would kill all others and get the 'G really pumping.

I like this quote on twitter: "Consensus is next time Andy D wants to meet a personal hero he should use his own cash & not squander $500k of AFL's money!"

Open game so far. Still could go either way. Jolly can't get off the ground which is giving Otto and West the advantage at nearly every ball-up. Geelong's crumbers need to do more when the ball hits the ground in the forward line. The Cats greatest threat is Cloke.

Pods out is a big out for Geelongs forward. Leon jumping to get Harry Taylor high.
Title: Re: Grand Final 2011 thread [merged]
Post by: mightytiges on October 01, 2011, 03:58:59 PM
I would've thought the Cats would've tried to get to half-time and put Pods' shoulder back in, give him a jab and then see how he was over the half-time break before subbing him off. They'll now need to rotate West and Otto forward alongside Hawkins to keep their structure. Actually they are looking too tall down there ironically. Geelong's crumbers aren't getting anywhere near it and are allowing the Pies to clear the ball far too easliy. Chris Scott will blast the crap out them at half-time. Lucky for Geelong they are only 3 points down. The game almost got away from them in that quarter before fighting back in the last 10 mins.

ps. The umps need to lift as well.

What a joke the goalumpire missed the ball clearly hitting the post when he was right underneath it ::). If the Pies were to win by less than a kick then the result will be a farce.

Cats doing well to be 7 up. Hopefully the few sore Pies out there tiring will help the Cats in the last. Tommy Hawkins has actually stood up as a real footballer in 2 of the 3 finals  :o.

lol Year of the toof is over with an epic fail.  Now we don't have to listen to the screaming of babboons mating which they call a theme song but we will have to listen to the screaming of babboons fighting and flinging faecal matter over their tantrums of fail.  How funny was the Eddy cam showing his beetroot red head slowly warping into strange and horrific shapes of disbelief as the game wore on lol.

Stevie J tore Harry O a new one on one leg.
Cloke went missing in the second half when the game counts the most.

Geelong kicked last 8 goals didnt they? So collingwood are back ot being the Colliwobbles of old.

Cats were great
Hawkins: almost match winner I reckon
Stevie J: incredible display

I think it was RR who was talking about Collingwood 2011 being like Essendon 2001 carrying injured players into the GF. Very similar GFs with the Pies up by 3 goals in the 2nd quarter before getting run over by the healthier and better side.

Leon Davis will go down at the worst GF player ever. Couldn't get near it in 4 GFs now and never played in a winning one.

Jimmy Bartel a well deserved Norm Smith medal - just pure class and courage.

Yeah I thought it was a massive risk going in with Jolly and Reid in particular, and thankfully it blew up in their face. Fantastic result :thumbsup

Add Didak, Blair plus an out of form Dawes and Leigh Brown (who is joining Melbourne's coaching staff in 2012 btw). Leon Davis is a proven GF hack. Swan had a Brownlow hangover.

Yes a fantastic result  :thumbsup

Watching the grand final just confirmed to me that to win you need A grade players and the truth is we dont have enough - just make sure we make GWS pay through the nose for Foley. That means pick 1 in the U17draft and a prelisted player IMHO.
In my honest opinion, gamewise, I thought it was a pretty ordinary affair.  Both teams looked flat at the start, Geelongs forward pressure in the first half was abysmal.  Collingwoods defence, a pox on them, was pretty good though.  Losing Pods helped them in a way, getting a faster bloke on the ground helped em open it up.  Collingwood look flat, and did last week too.  Lets hope this sends them into freefall like it shattered the Saints and they deteriorate into the rabble they deserve to remain.

I thought it was slow and full crap fumbly passes, noone was holding onto marks, and the umpiring was crap as usual.  Every time Geelong scored the umps would pluck a free out for Collingwood to keep in touch, it was disgusting.  The Hawthorn / Collingwood game was a much better spectacle imo.

Channel 7 better not hire Matthew Lloyd or Luke Darcy.
I never want to put up with them commentating a grand final again. They gave collingwood nothing but excuses and even tried to make excuses for umpire's mistakes that went in favour of collingwood.

Huddo must be loving his day job in the commentary box. His Cats have won the flag the last 3 times Ch 10 have telecasted it: 2007-09-11.

Winning only two flags in the past 52 years and losing another GF (1960-64-66-70-79-80-81 & 2002-03-11) sucks doesn't it Ed  :wallywink.

HA HA! Classic shot MT. If a picture is worth a thousand words,  then that one's worth a million Shakespearian sonnets. As for those dates (60-64-66-70-77-79-80-81-& 2002-03-11), as Paul Keating used to say, "What a beautiful set of numbers."

Have to say the filed umpiring on the whole (bar a couple of average decisions) was very good indeed

that should be the norm rather than the exception because it's GF day

ANd C'wood piad for playing 2 boles who clearly weren't fit enough too

And finally Leon Davis, at least 4 times in the last 45 mins of the game just didn't attack the man with the footy.... very poor

How hard would it be to get them out in the middle? The NRL manage it and as bad as he was, I popped out for a minute and had a quick look (sounded terrible) would be better with a stage in the middle of the ground rather than stuck in corner - Don't know why they bother at all! What a waste of money!
and you may joke WP but at least it would be funny.
Blister in the sun would be one of a medley we could do.
