Next up is Jake Batchelor.
Batch was selected at pick 31 in last year's draft and ended up playing 16 games in his debut season. His best games statistically were the round 16 match against Essendon where he had 22 possessions and took 6 marks and the round 7 versus Fremantle where he had 23 possessions.

How did we all rate Jake's debut year?

7. Possibly heading towards an 8.
Will be our B Goddard in 4-5 years time. Call me out.

sensational first year and a great pick-up at #31 in last year's draft. beautiful kick and excellent composure. well done Francis jackson

Mirror my comments on Conca - 7 as a first year player, 6 as value to the team. Like Conca, has heaps of upside and really happy he is on our list.

Ditto the ditto - possibly pushing toward a 6.5 overall...thought he was real solid and showed great poise...decision making and skill execution for a young man were terrific - always seemed to have time/poise which is a great characteristic for a young man..also liked the fact he tackled & 16 games from pick 31 is a great return...
another youngster that will only benefit from a full preseason and think long term is a solid investment

Excellent for his first year as a second round pick - couldn't have done much more, basically an U19, in by book, playing against seasoned men
Hopefully doesn't get the second year blues

Great debut year, i would probably compare him to more of a Sam Fischer type for mine.
Once he puts on a little more size i think he can certainly play that role and will be a gun for us.
-
Potentially a great defender of the future. Another tick for Hardwick recruit talent and put it in the back line. Hardwicks problem will be to keep the wolves at bay while he develops the defense coming from a pretty low base.
But I only rated him a 5 as I don't think he could yet match it with the big bodies, but he is a great pick and will be really good if his shoulder injury in the last round doesn't ruin his career like it did to Carey.

Has a wonderful air of composure about him. The expression on his face alone could diffuse a chaos ball into the backline!
Already a nice size but will only get stronger.
Love the Batch. :bow

Great story I heard was when he went in for his shoulder op, he was complaining about the pee poor kick that made him have to dive to get to the ball and so injure his shoulder lol! :lol :lol
Seriously good debut year. Played like a veteran at times. Big body and no fear. Good pick up FJ.

7.
Tough as teak, composed in his decision making and reliable by foot.
Breaking the mold of Richmond defenders.
Just hope he sticks around..

not breaking MM, creating. :thumbsup

Good Draft choice who has definitely shown something. Hopefully doesn't get 2nd year blues
-
Reminds me of a young Goddard. Although, dare I say it, looked more impressive than Goddard did in his opening season.

Shown something?? Shown plenty! We have another Cory Enright on our hands with this kid.
