Title: Dear RFC Trade Department
Post by: TigerLand on October 11, 2011, 08:22:03 PM
Appreciate shopping around our fringe players, but its obvious that no1 is interested.
Guys like:
Morton, McGuane, Connors, Farmer, Jackson, Nason etc need to be delisted if they are not contracted next year and stop wasting other clubs time... Why would anyone want fringe players from us?

Time to shop around who has currency if we want to land someone, the likes of:
Foley, Edwards, Post, Griffiths, Newman need to be discussed with other clubs.

Don't want to see those guys go (other than Edwards), but you have to give something to get something.

Target top 4 clubs and see who wants regular football.
Hogan, Gilles from Geelong.
Savage from Hawthorn. Xavier Ellis maybe.
Does Ben McEvoy want to go through 5 years of rebuilding at the Saints?

Is griffin the ruckman from freo? if so thats a good idea, he is a proven player

Griffen is also a proven flake who doesnt know where he wants to live.

My understanding is griffen wanted to go home to help look after his sick dad.

Not sure if he died or got better but apparently there is no need to look after him any more?

He went from Adelaide to Perth. Now he wants to go back to Adelaide.
Oh sure, pal. Wherever you stuffing well feel like going! Shall we make it first class?

a flake who wanted to look after his old man

Yeah what a real loser he is.  :banghead

Watch Freo games and see Griffin play for yourself. Can tell you he has a lot more to offer than Maric.

Daniel, I think Savage will prove you wrong.

Im not doubting he cant play i just doubt that Hawks will let him go

Gillies would be a nice inclusion

Griffen is proven compared to Maric's current record ( Ive watched some of his games on bigpond)

If Maric is selected then so be it, I believe they are prepared to give him a shot if they dont have to pay too much for him.
When free agency comes along they will be prepared to throw money at an elite ruckman I believe. (big Fish?)

If Maric improves by then, it helps if not we use our money to get something great. He is most likely a stop gap, by that time Beefcake will have had to have stepped up of step out and browne will develop or the same.

Who knows?? im probably wrong

There's a few at Hawthorn that can play.

Breust, Savage and they do well with their pick ups from other clubs also. Gibson and Hale was serviceable for them. Played a role and got Renouf down the pecking order.

Clarkson has a well drilled team. I'd be looking at some blokes from Hawthorn.

If you want to give bum slaps to everyone for another 30 years so everyone is left feeling all fussy inside, BJ go right ahead.
I'm interested in a premiership. Newman has currency, Freo love a trade, would think Newman for Zac Clarke and a draft pick would be something you have to consider.

Shipping the captain off is a good way to sink the ship, he is supposed to be club to the core and what everyone else is aspiring to, not disposable.

and there in lies the problem.

to get something of value we have to give up something of value and there is not one area where we have a plethora of riches to do this.

LMFAO

package one of them up with a compo pick and you get uumm Twisties to go with your BBQ shapes.

They are worthless they are that lot.

The only player of vaslue is not going anywhere and thats Foley.

Foley and a compo pick would land us someone very very good but the club is too soft to entertain such an idea.

Newman his currency but is a average player IMO but he is the captain so would have to agree must stay

Agree with Daniel about Foley and the compo pick. Also agree that the players mentioned wouldnt get anything decent in the market place.

i reckon we could offload one of cotchin martin or jack for a go at the 17 year olds. we may even get three picks if we offer two of them.
Title: Re: Dear RFC Trade Department
Post by: Owl on October 12, 2011, 09:03:59 AM
The compo pick alone will land us someone very good next year so why give away Foley and the compo at all.   The way the compo pick was explained is that it is hooked to the club it came from, so I think that one came from Port originally didn't it?  In any case, it gets used after the their first pick if it is a first round compo pick unless there is a point I have missed somewhere, pse fill em in.  If it was coughed up by a club that is struggling, chances are they are going to be hitting rock bottom next year which means we score too.
