Title: Mitch Farmer delisted
Post by: one-eyed on October 17, 2011, 04:41:22 PM
Just saw this on twitter (from Tristan Foenander):

"Mitch Farmer told he is no longer required by the Tigers. Expect announcement on a few more players this week."

Edit:
mitch farmer twitter:
"And what to do with my life now? Hey @bNason47 want to go Bali? #local? #youdogs?"

feel for Mitch not the worst on our list not the best but certainly not the worst, few should go before him but are safe because of contracts  :banghead

Was just too slow for the game.

Was just too slow for the game.

speed wise yep he was slow but he was a very accurate kick over 40-50 metres unlike some others

I could imagine being let go from a club would be like losing your job.
But with twitter being so public. You would just hope no delisted players get bitter and lose face by posting silly things on twitter.

Without knowing the finer details Mitch had a very limited pre-season due to injury.

I always thought he looked overweight this year, so maybe he was a bit ahead of himself in thinking that he was a permanent fixture.

From what i have seen he hasnt done himself any favours.

Happy this decision was made - we have too many that play the same role and unfortunately for Mitch he has had his chances and hasn't been good enough. Hope he keeps at it and works hard - plenty of success stories of players getting chances later in life if they put the work in.

We should never of drafted him in the first place, there was no need for a player of his type, we already have them.

agreed davey, he had a go, never brings me any joy to see a youngster fail to realise his dreams as a tiger. Like tambling, Mitch had flaws in his game that were simply exposed at the elite level. How many times we saw him fumble or spill a simple chest mark beggared belief...good luck MF

Right decision, all the best MF.

Hope this means Webberley can stay.  I'd delist Gourdis before Thursfield as well, even though he's contracted.  Would give us Taylor, Nason, Farmer, and Gourdis gone.

Would give us picks 15, 26, 55 and a PSD pick (Macaffer?)

Mitch said on twitter:

What to do with life now. Hey @bennason wanna go to Bali??

Maybe Ben is delisted aswell?

Hope so

McGuane deserves to be delisted more than anyone. How he got more than 1 year last time I will never know.

I'd delist all mentioned in this post, in addition I'd payout McGuane in this years salary cap which we should do due to paying 92.5%

...agree with most posts - had a dip but unfortunately just wasn't up to it & it's a tough caper...def looked overweight (hence the fatty farmer jokes) but couldn't question endeavour...also agree that we have/had too many who play the same role & lets face it, we all scream for the club to delist the ones we think are junk or who "aren't going to take us forward" - at least it shows the club looks like making some of the hard decisions...Mitch had plenty of opportunities late in the year where people were asking why he didn't get dropped - guess it was cos Dimma and Co. wanted a real good look at him...

cheers for your efforts Mitch, good luck in the future...

Absolutely. Great call by Cameron. 8)

I am sure I read on here that he was contracted.  :huh  Appears that was not the case at all thank heavens.

I suggest that you set out to get along with other members, and avoid any criticism of Farmer.

Unfortunately Mitch could not fill the role of Back pocket to take on all the small crumbing forward types that we recruited him for.
Admittedly it is difficult when you have a wombat sized arse, but he did wave his arms affectively to fill a zone section.

Especially on Dunk Island. What a hole. I hear tourism is down ever since they introduced a no heavy beer policy.

agree "he was a very accurate kick over 40-50 metres unlike some others" but it is no good if you can't keep up with your opponent. One thing I will not question is his attitude. Farmer did not shirk from a contest. He did put his body on the line. I wish him well for his future

+1  and I will say there are a few others that probably should go first. This is a tough business and mean tough descions have to be made.

As Hardwick stated, The defence will be overhauled & no-one will be spared if they are not upto AFL standard. Good decisions are being made. & Moore + McGuane are on the chopping block  ;D
