AFL are 'jerks', Meatloaf says

US rocker Meatloaf says the AFL are jerks, and he's vowed to convince other artists not to perform at the grand final.
The 64-year-old's grand final pre-match performance, as well as his high price tag, were widely criticised in the media.
He was reportedly paid in excess of $500,000, a figure he disputes.
But Meatloaf has blamed the AFL, saying they did not provide a live piano or enough time for a sound check and he could not hear the music in his earpiece.
"I'm sorry, they're jerks. I do not like them," he said of the AFL, News Ltd reports.
"And I'll tell you what, anybody that I hear announces that they're going to play for them I'm going to write to that particular artist a letter and tell them not to.
"And I hope the AFL hears this and I want this everywhere. Because I will go out of my way to tell any artist do not play for them."
The rocker said it was impossible to put on a good show in the allocated area.
The AFL declined to comment.

Funny how Lionel Ritchie and INXS managed to put on a good show in the same area. Also funny how his band still managed to sound good - just the man in question who was poor.

the reviews for the actual concerts weren't great either, said his voice didn't hold up on a number of songs

I'm sure other bands have been criticised for a poor performance at a big event before but they don't go having a sook calling the event managers jerks.
I think he needs to be honest with himself and watch his performance if he thinks its what it use to be then this won't be his last performance that's criticised.

I know he got booed off stage a few years ago. Cant remember where but he slipped and broke his leg, but continued the song. He then pulled the pin so they give it to him, so the story goes.

That was set-up on Hey Hey from memory when he could still sing 20 years ago.
Poor Andy D must be heartbroken. He was the only one who wanted Meatloaf to do the GF and it's backfired on him big time :wallywink.
