Just had a look in hope to find the Washington Capitals high and have a whinge at that being the only reason they just recently smashed the Red Wings 7-1... Only to notice they're 183 to Red Wings at 122.
Still... As if put Ovechkin on $124mil over 12... Buy a Cup why don't you *grumblegrumble Datsyuk is still better grumble*
Closer to home.. Glad we're better off than the Broncos :cheers

The most embarrassing thing about that list is we are behind the Dees, Dogs and Saints in terms of total revenue :P. It also shows we need to bridge about a $12-15m gap to match the financially strong AFL clubs :-\.
-
Man Utd might have huge revenue but they also have huge debit.
I see no point in putting AFL club revenue up against soccer clubs which are world known.
Or even against Sports like NFL which has a bigger following.

True we are smallfry in Oz but it is still surprising to see the biggest AFL clubs up with mid-lower EPL clubs. I would've thought no AFL club would make a top 500 sporting club financial list worldwide.

It's not too far off to compare us to other sports. Up until just recently, AFL had the 3rd highest average attendance for any domestic sport in the world. Now we're 4th, behind NFL, Bundesliga and only just got pipped at the post by the EPL.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sports_attendance_figures
If you have a look at it, the reason some of the sports are so high in total attendance such as NHL and NBA is because they play so many games. Take a look at the Red Wings' schedule for example http://redwings.nhl.com/club/schedule.htm . The Red Wings play in a stadium that doubles for the NBA (like most of the NHL clubs) and capacity of these stadiums is around 20,000. Take a look at this chart, if it automatically shows current season (2011-2012) just change it to last season (2010-2011) and check out the games played and average attendance http://espn.go.com/nhl/attendance/_/year/2011 . So most teams play a Geelong's Skilled Stadium sort of match 40 times a year. Then you have the broadcast junk, sponsors and all the corporate poo, not to mention the sheer size of the population spectating the sport, each game is worth a lot of money. These clubs are loaded, it wasn't that long ago that hockey had no salary caps. Even with the cap, most of the stock standard players are on $5million a season and the guns on $9-12million a season (though on contracts over 10 or so years making their worth of usually over $100million before sponsorships). And... this is very much a side show sport compared to the NFL. So, AFL at under 400 games a year to a limited population of 20million I think is competing very well and the clubs are punching above their weight when alongside some of the overseas comps.
/2cents. After looking up a few links and trying to type I'm not even sure if this posts makes any sense any more ;D

pathetic, this club needs a reimage from the ground up, out with the old in with the NEW :lol...dees, dogs and saints above us...that ought to fire us up
-
I would love to see where the rest of the NRL teams sit. I undersand the list doesn't go lower than 20 mill but the Broncos are miles in front of the rest of the teams which means many of them are generating little if anything. I don't know why the NRL and their supporters even try and hold themselves up against us :wallywink

I got an idea - how about a new logo to replace the new logo that just came in ;D

Not sure if the list includes money from Leagues Clubs. Even out of the AFL clubs, Port Adelaide are listed but Adelaide isn't because most Crows revenue goes through the SANFL which this list doesn't include whereas the Power have the Port club etc. Still it's good for winding up the NRL crowd who already have a chip on their shoulder about the AFL being richer and more popular nationwide :lol

Not really comparing apples with apples when you think about it
Most of those big clubs Man U, Yankees, Dallas Cowboys are privately owned. AFL teams are not ditto NRL
NY Yankees for example are owned by the Steinbrenner family
Pretty sure the bloke who owns the Red Sox owns an EPL side as well (can't remember which one ;D)

We could come up with a better one and I doubt we'd need to get paid over 100k to do it ;D
