This was covered weeks ago at the beginning of Oct ago torch

Unfortunately I cannot find the thread about it

But FYI

Williams coached Sandringham to 3 premierships in a row 2004-2006 and has a reputation of being able to develop young talent in time at Sandy

Here's a link to the official RFC about his appointment and a snippet fromt he article:

http://www.richmondfc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/6301/newsid/124723/default.aspx

"Richmond has appointed respected, experienced coach, former Carlton and Footscray player, Mark Williams, to its coaching panel.

Williams, 47, brings nearly 30 years of playing and coaching experience to his role as an assistant coach at Tigerland.

The highlight of his coaching career so far has been guiding VFL club Sandringham to a hat-trick of premierships, from 2004-06.

He also coached the VFL representative side to a 20-goal win against WA in 2007.  During his time at Sandringham, Williams enjoyed a 75% winning strike-rate.

I place no credence on VFL football personally, and I don't have any time or respect for anyone that has been involved in the Melbourne Football Club in recent years, Craig Cameron included.

well thats fair enough its your opinion, personally i reckon rating an assistant is fairly arbitrary...do we rate a colliongwood guy coz he worked with malthouse...maybe, maybe not, doesnt necessarily correlate that he has ANY coaching ability. :huh

Now if a fella has actually coached his own team and yielded a fair degree of success then that is in fact quite tangible that there is indeed some coaching nous. undoubtedly st.kilda felt same when appointing watters who won a couple of flags at subiaco

I'm not sure St Kilda would have rated it as any more than a small point of interest, otherwise Garry Ayres would have gone deeper in the process.

Gary Ayers went all in

That's as deep as it gets

how big or small we'll never know, clarkson had coached his own team and to a lesser extent so had neeld and mccartney that recently got jobs...there's a trend here... :shh

I reckon any VFL coach who can get a team up for three consecutive flags must have some coaching ability. I think he will be good for us and may have an idea on how to implement a plan for sustained success.

Ignorance is bliss.

Some have no idea and go about it silently.

Others cant help but shout from the rafters.

Yeah, how silly of me to not rate a competition that a genuine F grader like B Miller can dominate in.  :cheers
