A Tiger supporter on the footytragic website has done a fairly detailed list analysis of Richmond:

The deficiencies in our list really stand out in this format. We'll probably lose 3 key backs - Moore (inj), Good and McGuane - by this time next year without blinking any eye. Tuck and Miller will most likely be gone as well as will at least one ruck. Our small forwards lack class and we lack quality outside mids apart from Conca and quality mid forwards.

Any reason why Edwards is classed as an inside mid Cotch?

His greatest asset is his ability to find time and space in congestion.

wasn't he ranked top 5 for clearances at the club last year?

Not really the numbers of an inside mid.

I remember some bloke telling me Edwards was harder at the footy then Mark Coughlan because he averaged more contested possies than uncontested possessions. Just thought I'd share that with you goats.

Look at Beefcake goooo. Top 10 for centre clearances, go all in.

Interesting post MT. Endwards never sets up around the center bounce - only the wing. He is very much an outside player and this is his expected/alocated role.

What the lists really highlight is our dependence, and perhaps over reliance, on Cotch in the center contests. Makes us very  predictable to the opposition. We need Foley, Martin and perhps even Lids to shoulder some of this responsibility and ensure that our coaches make our stoppage strategies less one dimensional too.

As good as he is, we do not need a Rich scenerio in the midfield going forward.

True but by sweeping off the wing into the centre, if he was the one to receive the kick handball from the inside mids then you'd expect his centre clearance numbers (that is the one getting it out of the centre square) to reflect that and it looks like they do

Edwards' inside work, particularly by hand, is much better that his outside work.

his outside work isn't very good because he happens to be a poo kick. ;D
