BRISBANE Lions champion Darryl White has been banned from playing football for life by a Darwin tribunal.
White was deregistered under the ruling that places a life ban on players suspended for more than 15 games.
The NT News reports White's one-match ban for striking Tiwi Bomber Donald Mungatopi took his lifetime suspensions to 16 games - one above the maximum allowed under the new AFLNT deregistration policy.
The Australia-wide ban effectively ends a playing career that began in the under-13s with Pioneers in the CAFL 30 years ago.
An AFLNT Hall of Famer and a member of the AFL Indigenous Team of the Century, 38-year-old White played 268 games with Brisbane, including the 2001, 2002 and 2003 premierships.

Just way over the top. Sheesh Brereton and plenty of others wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes in the game if they had this rule in the VFL back in the 80s.

Horse poo rule. The bloke is a legend....bugger me, he's been playing for over 20 years. So he gets suspended less than once a season and now his career is over. What a joke

and i thought common sense was dead n buried

It took something like two weeks from the appeal hearing to the decision and then St Mary's/White had to come up with an anger management plan or some crap.
The whole idea that someone that gets 16 weeks suspension over a 20 year career is treated the same as someone who gets 16 weeks suspension over 3 or 4 years shows that common sense is still pretty much dead and buried.
The whole thing has been a farce, including white saying to the media last week that he had won his appeal and the AFLNT saying that no decision had been made yet.
