Are we now rotating the venues each year - Craigieburn, Punt Rd and Jells Park?

Don't think we've started planning for 2013. It should be here long term, it's rightful place, but sometimes other agreements or situations (like ground work) override that.

Sorry to say but ABOUT TIME!  Punt Road is our spiritual home.  To have it anywhere else is like going to Kabul to celebrate Christmas!

Here's the Family Day flyer ...

Family Day returns to Punt Road
richmondfc.com.au
Wed 18 Jan, 2012

Richmond’s family day will return to Punt Road Oval in 2012.

The ME Bank Centre will host the annual event on Sunday March 11, from 10.30am-2pm.

As in previous years, there will plenty to keep all the family entertained, including player autographs, kids’ rides and activities, live music, face painting and the presentation of the 2012 playing list on stage.

2012 Richmond memberships will be on sale, and the Tigerland Superstore will be open for all the latest Tiger merchandise.

Entry is via gold coin donation.

It should be a big happy crowd at the Family Day tomorrow. Might get a few bandwagoners turning up and stretching Punt Rd Oval at the seams after today's big win.

Massive crowd

Perhaps we under esitmated how many would turn up based on it being back at home (aka Punt Road)

Problems getting into the car park

The tiolet queues were monsterous and not just for the ladies , not enough food vendors and the queues to autographs were unbelievable

But like jack said I don't know what the answer is....
Title: Re: RFC Family Day - March 11

Hold it at a bigger venue like BJ mentioned.

Maybe Olympic Park or AAMI Park with plenty of amenities and much bigger than Punt Rd and that way it stays local and we keep that unique Richmond fell about it. :shh

I thought Jells park was a good destination, spose punt rd is more central for people from all parts of melbourne. Catering should be easily fixed by simply allowing more of the roadside vendors in to set up their vans, Im sure there'd be no shortage of volunteers

I should've rocked up at 7 am with two spits one with lamb and the other with pork and chicken.
The salads and tzatziki would have been dutifully prepared by Mum and everybody would have eaten like a Greek oops I mean Kings. ;D

Greeks can easily solve any RFC catering issue and RFC board issue. ;D

they would have charged the food vendors a fee to set up. once someone pays with the understanding there will only be a certain number of stalls, you cant just get extras in.

It's the sort of event that really hard to plan for. woulod we have got so many if wed been flogged yesterday?

after being in the autograph queue for the Bingle Tent for 90 minutes, , got signed the kids jumpers at approx 11.55am
Looked across the road at the Railway station, people were streaming in then.

Bigger venue more amenities and more vendors. Live and learn I guess.
I am sure a good season this year and a good pre season next year will ensure the hype is maintained and overheads will be far outweighed by membership, merchandise and memorabilia sales and general interest not to say extra corporate sponsorship wanting to ride the wave. :thumbsup

The toilets where a joke.
The food a joke.
More tent for the players to sign would be a good start.

Why was the social club not open again?

Why did we not run tours of the club rooms?

Why was not more mad of TFTF?
With so many people the club missed a big chance today.

im sure next year will be better sorted, but geez gotta love the strength in numbers
that we can pull and its not like we have been world beaters for 20 odd years.

People love a whinge.........

It was a fabulous day. Point blank.

Who the hell wants to eat lunch there  :huh
We had a late breaky in Richmond and wandered down.

I'd never worry about getting autographs on a day like that as it is obvious the queues will be long. If you went there to get autographs expect to wait a long time.  ;D
The December Christmas thingo was perfect for that type of thing.

We kept it pretty simple, kids did the spekky marks and the kicks for goal, had an ice cream (picked one thing which required a wait of more than 5 minutes) and watched the player presentations before heading home.

8000 Tiger fans on a glorious March day made up for the minor inconvenience of queues for the toilet (they just need more mobile facilities) and the missed opportunity of making the merchandise marquee much bigger. That shop seems too small and is always crowded when I visit.

Great Day Tigers, keep it at Punt Rd and add more mobile toilets along with Tucker and 10 flags souva making skills!

Pigs you reckon = stupid comment ... did you go?

Gee I dont' know 8000 people and about ten tiolets to cater for them = not a great set up

Again 8000 people and 2 food places that struggled to keep up with demand

It's not about whinging it is about the simple fact that the club clearly under-estimated how many were going to turn up ....

At least they will know for 2013

Yes correct WP, they will most likely get it correct for next year.
Has been a fair while since the last there.
Was a great day and the positives far outweigh the few negatives
Seeing its the first one at punt rd in yonks, it would be hard to gauge exactly how many would turn up.
And some here speculated 3-4k and we got double that, who was to know??

If anything to critique that couldve been changed- possibly the ME Bank autograph tent with axl, cotch, dusty and tucky. Way too popular- should have put 1 or 2 of those on the brooks tent. As it was oh so lonely down there.

But as someone else here said if you went solely for autographs?? It was always going to be tough to get them all.

Great day and thankyou RFC

Been thinking about this

One thing I would do is use the RFC carpark for extra food vans & tiolets

Club organise (yes pay for) an area with the MCC Car Park people for a set area for RFC staff, players & officials - say 200 cars.

By freeing up the car park you can get more amenities for the public and then move some of the queues to outside the main ground = creates more space

Just a thought

Been thinking about this

One thing I would do is use the RFC carpark for extra food vans & tiolets

Club organise (yes pay for) an area with the MCC Car Park people for a set area for RFC staff, players & officials - say 200 cars.

By freeing up the car park you can get more amenities for the public and then move some of the queues to outside the main ground = creates more space

Just a thought

Totally agree.

Fair suck of the sav Dookie, I wouldn't be caught dead in a ford for a start, secondly I ride a Triumph Bonneville, just look for an owl riding a classic happy slapping opposition supporters as he rides past.

By calling you a Mexican because you are south of the border then that makes them yanks.
I know which one I'd prefer to be.

I remember a few years back when I took my little ones to the family day at punt rd they cordoned of the centre square with the players all on the inside of it. All we had to do as fans was to walk around the square and my kids pretty much got everyones signatures & photos with those players that day without much waiting or lining up.

Richo was one of the first ones signing autographs that day. Last one to head back inside.
Nathan brown was the last one out signing & the first one back inside that day.  :banghead

I've met the N.G.Brown on a few occasions and he has always been really forthcoming with his time, even bought a few rounds. I'm a champ, but i'm sure he's like that with most people.

To Browny  :cheers

I've met a few players over the years. From Richmond all of them I've met over the years were all  cool blokes. Nathan Brown wasn't one of them.  The other two tossers were Brereton & Didak.
Dippa is a champ as is Ray Jenke (top bloke!)

I suppose most guys are just living the dream and some act like they own the world or everyone elses women.

There are two things that annoy me.
One is trying to pick up a chick when she is clearly already attatched
the other is taking advantage of a young girl.

Both acts are dog acts in my opinion & you deserve a roundhouse kick to the head.

is just what I've seen & after meeting them I formed the opinion that those blokes are full of themselves. If you like the guy (Brown) & you have a pretty wife then I don't suggest you associate with him.
