What happens if we have a bad season?.........gee i hope not. but lets say we end up 12th will stiffy be coach next year? will we look at mick? will lids stay? it could happen ,but i hope not, very interesting year ahead. would love your thoughts on this subject
-
Not sure, mate. 12th would be very poor. It's a tough draw early on and we'll see how good we are after about 10 games.

12th means that we will have no choice but to look at Bringing in Malthouse. Deledio will sign for 3 years I reckon at some stage during the year.
-
If we don't make the finals I'm going to shoot every Vietnamese person in Richmond. It's so obvious now.
-
Hardwick will get a contract extension not a doubt in my mind.
Lids will sign a contract extension
12th is a possibility but wont necessarily mean we've gone backwards. If 12th equated to 10 wins and no blow out losses then we've improved
As for Malthouse, he is going to the be the "Sheedy" to some supporters for the next 5 years? ;D
-
It would have to be a pretty devastating year for Dimma to get the arse. And by the sounds of the article in the other thread concerning Deledio and desiring clarity on free agency, sounds like he is keen to stick it out another couple seasons. Fair enough I think.
I'm going to do cart wheels if we make the eight and Bummers don't.

X2.
And I'll probably smoke a whole lotta celebratory crack too
-
if we finish 12th( which I doubt )
Hardwick wont be coach.
-
isn't 12th better than 9th?
-
we get tuned by 100pts against Carlton (again) in round one.
We're 0-5
we finish bottom 5?
I don't expect it to happen but it's possible. Certainly take nothing for granted when it comes to Richmond.
No way I'd be re-signing Dimma yet. No rush to do that at all.
-
I doubt we'll finished 12th.
Port, GWS, GC, Brisbane will seriously struggle this year. Then you have Adelaide that has a ordinary list but may surprise under a new coach. I think North will struggle along with the Bombers, but Essendon have always been down hill skiers and have an easy draw first up.
I think we'll finish between 8th-10th.
If we struggle early with the draw, cop injuries to say Lids, Martin, Cotchin and Jack we can look at a 10th-14th finish, even which I doubt anything will happen. At worst for Hardwick he'll get another year, and it will be last chance. This isn't a last roll of a dice year for Hardwick.

Need I remind you that two of those teams beat us last year?

He won't get signed to just one year. There are benchmarks for all coaches and Hardwick is no different.
Coming out of contract, he needs the team to continue to improve.

I agree with all of this. But just personally I think that Adelaide and Norf are interesting cases. Adelaide have a serviceable list which won't take them to any heights but IMO can be competitive in the 8-10 bracket, and similar with Nought. Goldstein, Bastinac and Ziebell for example still have some upside, and Swallow and even Boomer are consistent. In no way do I reckon they'll ever become world beaters with that list, but I think if we miss out on the 8 (and get the famous 9thmond) by a game I think it will be to someone like Norfff or even Adelaide. Teams with serviceable lists and easy draws. If we have a crap start to the season, Nuff can get well and truly away from us. In their first 10 games before their bye, they should be able to knock off GWS, GC, Port, Brisbane (at Etihad) and they would have a good crack against Bummers and Bumdogs. After the bye in their 2nd half they have GC and GWS again, and they only have 3 games where you can cross them out, Eagles, Carlton and Collingwood. The rest is just crap like Demons, Saints, Adelaide and us where they only need to win a couple and they have a finals place in the bag.
Actually, the more I look at their draw, the more I think it is a total effing rot.
-
I think he'll get an extension, I think he probably should get an extension. The wheels will have to come off pretty badly for us to even contemplate ousting him. We are progressing, even the hardest of markers can observe that ( ::)) well you'd hope so anyway. if we have a stable season he'll get 2 years, If we have a really good season he'll get another 3, i hope he does.
-
Good job being an AFL coach.dont meet KPI,s set and you get another year.thats why this club has failed onfield for so long.reward average efforts.just like giving Daniel Connors several chances..why ?
-
so which KPIs hasn't hardwick met?

Hardwick spent the first 2 years getting rid of blokes who couldnt take us to success. For me he has only really had 1 year of coaching and even thats open to question. In the first 2 years he has shown gradual improvement and so has the team. We wont know if he will make it as coach for another 2 or 3 years IMHO.
-
If we don't make the finals this year purely because we are not good enough and not because of injury then I think Hardwick should go. Either that or Gale should.
They set the 3-0-75 goal which means we have to make the finals this year.
You can't come out and say how bold you are etc etc and then not be accountable if you fail.
-
We have the bold part down pat.
It's the strong part we're still working on.
-
so which KPIs hasn't hardwick met?
KPI,s set by club were 3-0-75.
Who is responsible? thats right no body :banghead
We need to play finals this year, no excuses
-
Nothing changes for me. Win or lose I will still support the Club as long as they are called The Richmond Tigers, Wear Yellow and Black and remain at Punt Road. Those are my three non negotiables. If any of those change, then I will seriously re-evaluate my support. If we have another bad season, I can bitch and moan like the best of them, but losing and poor seasons will never change my allegiances.

What happens if the club is on short finals and ready to go under and asks for help from its fans, what happens if we linger at the bottom of the ladder for years on end like we're afraid to climb up the ladder, what happens if we taste nothing but acute bitterness without a hint of respite. Well, for you young guys who did not live through the bad years of the 1980s, you mightn't know what I mean, but from all hard core TIGER fans out here, let me tell you, nutting 'appens.
We are the mighty TIGERS, not the papmpered flooseys Carltank, nor the ultra afl pets the Colliwobblers. We will bounce back up very soon, the fans are all still here, I can hear the roar of the TIGER coming nearer each day.

I know you love sticking the boots in at every opportunity, but how about waiting until it actually happens? ( or doesn't happen or whatever ::) ) before you get your knickers in a twist?
-
Optimistic lot :nopity :nope :nope
The same thing will happen as in previous years
The supporters will go feral when we dont make the eight, the coach and never the players the focus for the vitriole
And then we'll all get over-optimistic for the next season
I think that's how it usually pans out

Gee you're a ripper ;D
Exactly where did it say that their "vision for the future 3-0-75" were the Club's KPI
Was it in the absolute fine print? Err No
The had a long term plan which they announced as 3-0-75, don't confuse that with yearly KPI's they're not the same thing. Yes the plan is for 3 finals appearances by 2014 but if you think that is the only criteria (KPI) for the coach then you are dreaming
Every company has a business plan = long term strategy that they aspire too it is a very different beast to yearly KPI's. KPI's are talilored to individuals within a business.
You work for a big company you should know that ;D
-
Haha, Dubstep Dookie if you report me make sure you get it in before the season opener, cause by that time my man, I'd be unstopable.
In all seriousness, I, just like all of us here, have had a gutfull of wasted years whilst watching the wobblers, carltankers, dawrks, catskankers, and the like lining up their cabinets with plenty of silverware, while we here at Australia's most fanatically supported football club twiddling our thumbs. As good old Gough said in 1972 "It's time" .............
