Title: Who else is there that could do better than Dimma?
Post by: YellowandBlackBlood on February 15, 2012, 01:32:02 PM
This is directed to those who are saying that they would not extend Dimma's contract if we didn't make the 8.
I can tell you that Malthouse is not interested (through personal contacts).

If you were not to renew his contract, who would/could do a better job?

Fire away!

I'll let you know the answer to that half way through the year.

There is simply no one better. Malthouse has achieved too much already in his coaching career, I reckon if he coached us he'd lead us into the poo.

I'd give Dimma a 2 year contract after the season is over. (unless we finish bottom 4)

Hey there may be someone better out there but I certainly wouldn't know who it is. He is the best fit we can ask for at the moment without a doubt regardless of the win/loss ratio this year.

I'd personally like to see Peter Rohde get another shot at the big time.

Tell you what, Hardwick is safe...

And if not by some unbelievable chain of events he isn't, the last thing this club needs is another untried or ex assistant coach..untried, or a coach that has been out of the game for more than a year..

We would need to do a Freo trick IMO.....John Worsfold would be great, but very unlikely......and probably still in contract.

People have been harping about it for nearly 30 years

Has to be

SHEEDY

But seriously, I am not sure the point of thread to be honest

Dimma will get a contract extension the only real question is how long will it be for IMV

Will all due respect WP, the point of the thread is to show that one cannot just say "sack Hardwick!" and end the conversation there. If he was to be sacked, someone would have to replace him who would do a better job. The simple fact is, it is hard to be sure that there is currently anyone out there who would fulfill this criterion. I am more than happy to hear people's suggestions regarding this topic.

I suppose it comes down to the fact I don't think he will be sack, seriously don't think it is an option and that he will get an extension.

Re your question asking is anyone out there who would fit? Are the answers allowed to included all current coaches even if they are contracted beyond 2012 or just former ones floating about in the media etc. Because if you are going to say "yep you can include current contracted coaches" then it becomes an even bigger hypothetical

I agree that he will get an extension. Really he hasn't done a lot wrong. He did the correct thing and has built from the ground up with very limited resources.
I don't think you can include current coaches as the successful ones will be retained and any failures that get the sack we probably wouldn't look at.

lol if mick was available we would be mugs to not at least weigh it up.

lets just say at the end of this yr we finish 13th a very real possibility.lets say our bad is still terrible and the good passable.

id say the spectre of malthouse is very real and very large.

it may be a case of hardwick doing little wrong but the best man for the job getting the gig. footy can be harsh.
