Any changes for next week's game against the Pies?
Kingy is obviously available after his suspension.
-
Outs: Jackson Tuck
In Batchelor King
-
Out: Jackson (put down), Edwards
In: King, Batchelor
-
Post was a liability last night but dropping him would mean McGuane comes in. A catch 22 :help. Miller did nothing. It's games like that where he's list clogging and stopping a younger forward with a future from getting senior gametime. Tucky looks like he is on the outer again after being subbed off.
Kingy will come in.
As for those at Coburg there was no one who really put their hand up last weekend. Hopefully Batch has a good game. I think in form he adds that bit more balance to our back six as he can play tall or small.
-
I don't think we have room for Nahas and A.Maric in the same team. I was going to chop Maric but after Nahas gave that free kick away when Vickers was running into an open goal, it may have to be him. That disallowed goal hurt.
-
Out: Jackson (put down), Edwards
In: King, Batchelor
Yep, on the money for mine.

And a bit more class out of the backline if we are going to play Lids in the middle.

Huge difference with Luke is you know what you are going to get - skill errors but at least a contest and attack on the footy. With Post you get the skill errors but no attack on the contest
Miller did nothing. It's games like that where he's list clogging and stopping a younger forward with a future from getting senior gametime.
Think you will find Miller had more stats than a certain young forward who got gametime and was woeful in Vickery ;D. At least Miller tried to creat space and lead, Jack wanted to take hangers and Vickery couldn't run (he didn't look fit)
Tucky looks like he is on the outer again after being subbed off.
Yeah can anyone explain that one ;D
INS: Batchelor, King, McGuane
OUTS: Post, Nahas (for that stupid free and running around in circles ;D), Edwards (was he out there?)
-
Miller was ok
Vickery terrible
Post terrible
With Miller .he leads up very good and actually set goals up
-
Good opportunity for Dimma to do what his says
Guys won't be given games this year
Vickery average to ordinary pre season..hopeless last night on big stage.send back to Coburg?
-
Out.....Jackson, Martin
In........King, Arnot
Martin is a lazy prick with absolutely no defensive side to has game at all. He needs to be sent back to Coburg to learn how to become accountable! The goal Yarran kicked is just one example of how lazy this kid is.
-
would expect king to come in, and working on small for small you'd have to drop nahas rather than maric minor.
Post should be dropped the only alternative is mcgone, could happen.
any other changes will depend on if anyone puts their hand up at coburg this week. webberly will go close to another chance if he impresses at coburg again, and in hindsight would have been a better choice as sub than conca.
I would prefer to see conca get a full game at coburg than another half game in the seniors.
Tuck may go out for helbig or batch, depending on how they go tomorrow.
we need players to be demanding inclusion, rather than scratching our heads wondering who to rplace poorly performing players with.
I doubt edwards or jackson will get dropped this week.
-

'll have another go at this .
Post out of McGuane
Batchelor to come in off half back to free up Lids into the midfield. Tuck to make way.
Conca to be in the 21. Ellis to be the sub.
We cannot go in with King Nahas and Maric in the same side as Daniel says we will be Fantasy Island if we do. I'd say Nahas to be omitted.
Jako to be replaced by Helbig I don't care I have had enough of Jako. If I see him taking an interview to give us the rhodes scholar version of where we are I will break the tele. :help
Vickery to get a rocket up his bum and given another opportunity to get it right.
Dimma needs to stay true to his word and drop these Edwards Jako types his trustworthy soldiers who never ever get to the contest and when they do you wish they didn't. I don't care who they bring in for these blokes. Would rather see Webberley in than Edwards and White in than Jako. At least White has pace and even though he goes MIA its better than having no pace no goalkicking ability and no skill and going MIA and then when you magically appear you wish he was still MIA.
It might seem like an off the cuff remark but whether Dimma does this or not could be critical to the development of some kids and I still believe could be the difference between us finishing in 7-8 or 10-12.
-
To keep their spots, our more mature players need to earn it. To mind, based on that one game, Jackson, Tuck, Nahas and Miller didn't.
Post is a delemia for me. He has potential but lack confidence and makes poor decisions under pressure. He also frequently seems to lack intensity. He's still like an 18 year old in this way. So raw and should have gotten over this by now. The problem for me with deciding whether to keep him in or not is that his upside could be far greater than someone like a McGuane but if you put in a McGuane you wouldn't see these pressure mistakes and he will give it his all.
I think Post should be given a couple more weeks but McGuanes going to be hard to keep out if Post and Grimes keep testing the selectors faith in them.
Maric will go out for King.
Ellis will swap the sub role with Conca.
Other than that I can't see anymore changes for this week. I'd like to see more but I don't think we will see it.
-
you'd keep nahas in over maric miror, stripes?
-
In: King, McGuane (eek! But I'm frightened by the idea of Post on someone like Dawes), Batchelor
Out: Nahas, Post, Tuck
-

Out: Post, A Marric
In: Webberley, King
-
which one of webberly and king plays CHB? :P
-
Grimes better on talls than smalls IMO. Has an excellent spoil.
Post was hopeless.
-
I thought Mini Maric did way more than Nahas. If king is going to come in for one of the small fwds, it should be Nahas.
-
you'd keep nahas in over maric miror, stripes?
I wouldn't but I think Dimma will. Maric is a elevated rookie just new to the side. I think he would have already been earmarked for the change before the Blues game even began. I'm hoping this has changed but I have a feeling it wouldn't have...
-
Is King better than these two?
-
Is King better than these two?
for some roles, we really missed his intensity as a defensive small fwd last night
-
true. Maybe A. Maric should be sup next week.
Conca should play a full game.

It's an intersting one isnt it? Maric seems to have a bit more polish, but nahas has some long term form behind him, in comparison to maric anyway.
-
Don't think you can drop Post yet, 1 game is not enough. When selecting the side they'd have picked Post ahead of McGuane saying we need to give Post 3-4 games in a row and see how he goes. Can't drop him after 1 game. If he doesn't improve by Round 4, he can play a dozen games in the VFL and give someone else a month to make the spot theirs.
He didn't have a great night but he wasn't slaughtered 1 on 1 with an opponent, or have a bag kicked on him. Don't think he is any worse than Rance was in his whipping boy days.

Shouldn't we wait and see what happens at Coburg this weekend.

That's not a bad idea :thumbsup
Hopefully some boys will put pressure for next weeks selection
-
King should come in. Jackson was pathetic and must be dropped. Post is a liability at the moment but for he is better than McGuane. When Miller got the ball last night he was good. Vickery had a really off night. Would bring in BATCHELOR given problems with kick outs and drop Ellis.
-
Don't think you can drop Post yet, 1 game is not enough.
It is if a coach is giving games based on merit. He was worst on for us.
-
Don't think you can drop Post yet, 1 game is not enough.
You certainly can and it is
What he showed last night actually wasn't the same as what he has shown over the last 2 seasons it was actually worse. Disppointed doesn't even come close to how I'd describe it
When you've been in the system 4+ years, still refuse to chase, have no awareness of what's going on around you, you drop your head when you've made a mistake and above anything else you pull out of contest when you are around 6ft 4"-5" and weigh in at over 90kgs because you appear you don't want to take a hit from a smaller opponent then I would argue that 1 game is more than enough.
-
didnt postie have some sort of running coach over the pre season?
didnt see the any effects garnered from that exercise last night.
if anything he looked lead footed, even deer/ headlights scenario comes to
mind.

jackson tuck out, anyone else in these two were just poo. King for nahas, a bit more like for like

He was drafted 2008 so unless I have it wrong this is his 4th season now. He was a year after Rance and if you look at the threads a year or so back about Rance you could almost just swap the name "Post " for where is says "Rance". I didnt think he was a bad as you do and I think with time he will be ok. Leave him in for me.

Footy Barometer - Round 2
Sam Landsberger
From: Herald Sun
April 02, 2012 1:47PM
ON THE BLOCK: Second-tier recruit Steve Morris struggled with the pace of AFL while Addam Maric was held goalless in attack.
ON THE CUSP: Jake King is free to return from suspension and will give the Tigers a bit of mongrel against Collingwood. Matthew White kicked two goals in the VFL and Jake Batchelor racked up plenty of touches for Coburg across half-back.
SAM LANDSBERGER’S FORECAST: Gallant for a bit more than three quarters, the Tigers will be disappointed they were so easily overrun by Carlton. Collingwood, Geelong away and West Coast in the next month builds for a nightmare start but a winnable game against Melbourne in between. Good thing Damien Hardwick is already re-signed or the fickle faithful could quickly start asking questions.

where do they get these guys? struggling with the pace of the game on debut does not put you on the block, it's pretty much expected.
I would be very surprised if morris got the chop this week

Rance always had a go though Fluffy.
However, I am a fan of Postie for reasons i am unsure of. Maybe it is because he shows us every now and again what he can achieve. I agree with you Fluffy, a bit more time is needed and i don't think he played as bad as many think. Maybe thats a little from column A; some may have him in the gun, and a little from column B; i can see no wrong!
-
Batchelor and King need to come in. I give up mentioning who to drop as they never get dropped... I think we can play Nahas, maric and King in the same side, not all 3 need to be in the fwd line simultaneously, one can push high when cotch/martin/lids rest fwd to give our fwd line a bit more variety
-
Jay Schulz is wondering why he didn't get the "he's only young" defense when he was Postys age (only 3-4 years ago ;D)
I still think Post can make it. He has to take a poo load of marks to make it as a KPD though. There's nothing special about his ability as a stopper so we need him to have an impact with his marking. At 23 years old this year it is time for Posty to stand up.

RICHMOND - In the Mix
By Paul Daffey
afl.com.au
The Tigers are almost at full strength, with only half-back Brad Helbig (foot) being added to the injury list after last weekend. The Tigers are unlikely to make too many changes to the line-up that lost to Carlton in round one, although there is a chance that half-back Brandon Ellis will be replaced. Ellis struggled with the pace of the game in his debut.

-
Saw that too , very interesting comment but i would be suprised
-
In: Batch .... Out: Ellis ?
-
Really surprised that Ellis is being thought of in these discussions. First gamer who showed shedloads more ability and attitude than a 4th year player - can't conceive that Ellis would be dropped before Post. But then again, Jackson keeps getting game.
-
Ellis wont get dropped after rnd 1, Dimma mentioned him and said he was dissapointed he didnt demand it more as he feels comfortable with the ball in Ellis's hands (or something to that effect).
-
RFC should call me for selection tips..
Out: Jackson for life, Edwards
In: Batchelor, King

Yeah, it didnt sound like was talking about someone he was thinking of dropping.
as i said about morris, you don't drop a debutante because they struggled with the pace of the game. I didnt think either struggled with the pace to any great degree anyway. The both had disposal efficiencies in the 80s

I wasn't surprised to see Webberley getting a sniff on the extended list. We all know very well he doesn't transfer his form to AFL well, but as long as he keeps dominating the VFL he'll always be 23-25 and competing for a spot. I don't mind him banging on the door of the 22 to be honest. Keeps out some of the other spuds ;D I still reckon he has some good physical attributes to be a valuable player should he be able to transfer his form.

An injured Helbig is more of a chance than Gus lol.

That's really poor, MT. You need to apologise for such a comment. A bloke is busting his gut and you come out with that. You call yourself an administrator, guy? Not happy at all

-
Admin or not, the reality is Gus most likely won't play for Richmond ever again. We've seen too many triers of VFL standard busting their gut at Richmond. It's why we've been in the wilderness for 30 years. We need more AFL standard footballers with class, natural skills and football brains instead.
-

i invested 1k into big Gus so i hope he

No need to have a whack at the guy when he's actually played two reasonably good games for Coburg. Would have thought you'd be whacking others who arent doing anything ;D Reality is he's contracted for another season and he's our #2. Derickx is the one who should be under pressure. 25 years old and not near an AFL game despite being talked up like he's Nic Nat. The Turtle is one I.Maric injury away from being our #1 ruck again.

Okay Gus is 11 days off turning 25. He'll spend most of the season as a 25 y.o. I must have missed Gus' two AFL standard season is a parallel universe because in this one he's been a spud who has never played close to a full season. Last year was his best for hitouts (avg. 23) yet we got smashed at the stoppages. Sadly Gus has no idea where he's tapping to lol and most of the time at centre bounces at AFL level he's aiming more for the man than the ball and giving away dumb frees. If Gus was of AFL standard, the Club wouldn't have gone out and chased big Ivan to be our No.1 ruckman.

Suggest you go back and watch season 2009, guy. And suggest you go and watch how the big bastard went after he came into the side in 2010. The club would have gotten a ruckman earlier if Gus was a 'spud' (terrible thing to say about one of your own, MT. You're nothing but a player basher and you make me sick) and had never had a decent season. You won't admit that though :outtahere

All are correct. In fact I'll add a 5th, Wheezy from Toy story. No Lungs. As a footballer, Gus is nothing but a Blancmange or a single cell amoeba. I would have also used the term Jellyfish but they at least provide a bit of sting now and then.
Coach, when are you going to fall on your sword re Gus? Just do it guy and save us all the trouble of pushing you onto it. ;D

Derickx is the one who should be under pressure. 25 years old and not near an AFL game despite being talked up like he's Nic Nat. The Turtle is one I.Maric injury away from being our #1 ruck again.
Agreed Coach.
Posters are calling for Derrickx inclusion in the seniors based on what?
Both Gus and Browne have been better than him in both of the Coburg games this year.
