Title: Did we cop the rough end of two doubtful goal decisions?
Post by: one-eyed on March 30, 2012, 07:48:30 PM
Not blaming the umps for the loss as we were outplayed over the whole 4 quarters, but the AFL website and Ch 7 news tonight both showed vision of Yarran's freak goal where as he was avoiding Morris the ball looked as though it was fully over the boundary line.

It also reminded me of the decision in the second quarter when Vickery's goal was disallowed for running too far (?) when the replay showed he kicked the goal on his 15th step which is legal. It just wasn't our night  :P.

the yarran one was definitely out.
Vickery's disallowed goal was for holding by nahas when he shepherded, and was probably a correct call

i thought we got screwed by '12 points plays', where we have a chance of scoring a goal ourself, and it went down the other end and some inbred looking carlton flog would kick a goal, at least two-three times.

Probably. No point worrying now. Should have punched out a Carlton mum at the ground and be done with it

No what they said was that the umpires call was fair because it was too hard to tell  or some bs like that, the video clearly shows his foot is out of the boundary line and the ball is well and truly over and stuff me if the umpire wasn't standing there watching, the commentators on the television picked it up immediately and showed it on replay, Giesch thinks he is a stuffing Jedi Knight or something...look into my eyes, he did not step out of bounds....321 your back in the room.

Could argue that the way he was leaning inbound allowed the ball to stay in, would be on the line at best

Cheers Coach and al. I wasn't sure what the free was for as the scoreboard at the ground made an effort to replay how many steps Vickery took.
