Sandy came home like a train kicking 5 goals in the last 10 mins but luckily they left their run too late. Wilkes kicked 5 for Sandy so I'm not sure who was playing FB for Coburg. Anyway Coburg deserved the win as they were the better side in the second half apart from that last 10 mins of going to sleep thinking the game was done. Sandy were on top of the ladder before this loss so a good win by Coburg.

By the sound of it White and Griffs were in the bests. A.Maric had a very good first half.

According to the Saints forum:
Coburg thrashed Sandy in contested possessions with the two Coburg ruckmen (Gus and Browne I'm presuming) getting it to numbers at just about every contest. Webberley got a ton of it for Coburg, and their (Coburg) rucks just flipped it to whoever was free.

well, he is better than Jackson
At least White can give you a bit of 'run and carry "( thats what you get with White )
we have little at the moment

White and webberly both deserve to be rewarded. Hopefully at the expense of Jackson and Edwards.

Fairdinkum....any of: Maric, Webbs, Arnot and White would be a 1000% upgrade on Jacko and Eddo. We can only hope that the selection committee can see outside the fishbowl too :pray BTW I've liked Ben Darrou since day one and predicted early that he will be a player. I think this rookie draft will prove to be our best ever  :thumbsup

Fair enough. I was going off the teams listed in the first page.
Should have realised because he was mentioned by Bentleigh in his report on latest reading.

Darrour looks lost.

Ive seen all Coburg games thus far & Ben Darrou has definitely NOT looked lost in any of them

In fact I would say His composure is one of his assets

I certainly wasn't using Bentleigh's post as a definitive opinion on players performance (just track back to the quote in this thread and read a few responses ) only that he did mention Darrou playing in the seniors at Coburg.

Development coach Greg Mellor on how the Richmond-listed players performed at Coburg against Sandy...

Jeromey  Webberley
Produced another excellent performance.  Had 25 possessions in his role on a wing, with most of them very effective, and was one of the best players afield.  His consistency has been particularly pleasing and he is putting pressure on players in the AFL team.

Matt White
Continued his good form, picking up plenty of possessions with his hard running.  Played in the midfield, as well as up forward, and was influential in the team’s win.

Addam Maric
Responded in an outstanding manner to being left out of the Richmond side after the opening round.  Picked up 24 possessions and kicked three goals.  Was clean and effective with his ball use.

Matt Arnot
Had a good, solid game.  Continues to terrify the opposition with his strong tackling.  Is very good at playing the inside-midfield role, but needs to get a little outside ball as well.

Brett O’Hanlon
Continues to improve and was a significant player in the last quarter.  Followed up well from contests and managed to get a bit of ball.  His long set shot, which resulted in a goal, was a highlight.

Andrew Browne
Another solid effort from big ‘Browney’, playing both in the ruck and resting in the forward pocket.  Worked in tandem with Gus Graham to give the midfielders first look at the ball.  His last quarter, in particular, was excellent.

Jayden Post
A solid game.  Took some strong marks in the key defensive post and used the ball well to set up some strong offensive ball movement.  His opponent, however, did manage to kick a couple of goals, so this is something for him to work on.

Angus Graham
Is getting better each week.  Produced a strong four-quarter effort, winning 38 hit-outs and 18 possessions.  One of the team’s best on the day.

Matt Dea
A solid return to form.  Blanketed one of the opposition’s most dangerous forwards and provided good offensive run from the backline.

Tom Derrickx
Took five strong marks and his ability to follow up and keep the ball in the forward area was another pleasing feature of his game.  Kicked a nice long goal and probably should have scored another couple.  Needs to make the most of his opportunities in front of goal.

Todd Elton
Was quiet until the last quarter when he took three impressive, contested marks.  The challenge for him is to do this over four quarters, but we are very pleased with the progress he is making.

Ben Darrou
Without doubt the most improved player at the Club over the past month.  Played another good game in one of the key defensive posts.  Used the ball well, made good decisions, and limited his opponent’s effectiveness.

Luke McGuane
Was very consistent throughout the game.  Collected 25 possessions and took 11 marks from his defensive position.  Also ran hard forward to create strong offensive ball movement from defence.

Ben Griffiths
Made a good return after missing the previous week’s game due to concussion.  Started a bit slowly, but managed to work his way into the game and was an impressive performer, with strong marking and clean disposal a feature of his game.

Development players

Steve Verrier
Found plenty of ball across half-back and provided good offensive run.  Won his position quite clearly and brought teammates into the game until he suffered a heavy knock at the end of the third quarter.

Gibson Turner
Had a fairly quiet game, but when he had the footy, he produced some bursts of brilliance.  Kicked three goals in his half-forward role, including one unbelievable snap from the pocket.

Disagree.....One has to at least a skilled KP backman..

the problem is most of the skilled kps play forward as juniors, which is why clubs draft KPFs and turn them into back men.

This.
Having said that, Kristian Jaksch going alright at CHB though in the U18's (early days).

IMO we should target Chaplin from Port as a FA. Rance, Chaplin, Grimes, Batchelor and the backline looks a lot better. Save our 3 early picks on highly-skilled mids of which there are heaps this year.

i dont know too much of Chaplin but I agree we should target the best backmen we can get to add to the fold. Use all early draft picks for midfielders
