Bit harsh on Maric.. Miller was worse than him last week.
Title: Re: Official team Round 2

WTF.... shouldn't be surprised should I, same as last year, Edwards will just keep getting picked..... :-\

I dont know how they can justify their selection sometimes.....Maric out, while not setting the world on fire last week he was far from our worst compared to a few more.

Probably omt based on his size, surely that would be the only reason????

I'm pretty happy with the outs. Mini Maric will get more chances. Can't play him, Nahas and King in the same side. They are all small and play the same position. Nahas and King have the credit points at this stage.
Post is an obvious omission. He was poo and squibbed a couple of contests.
Glad that Batch is back in. He might actually be a good match up for Dawes.

We've gone short in the backline. Maybe trying to expose Cloke, Dawes and Paine for pace, though could use Miller back if all 3 of their big guys are there at the same time or maybe even Tuck ?

Though I see that Gus is an emergency. Could he come in as a late change and be the big CHB we are looking for??????

Foley? Maybe because he was one of our best last week and throughout the preseason.

I agree Maric was harsh but Miller as much as it pains me until Griffiths/Astbury take CHF by the scruff of the neck will be a fixture for structural purposes.

only cotchin and maric major had more clearances than edwards and only cotchin had more inside 50s .

but then again, those are not important stats at all.....

he was far from our worst last week.

maric minor is probably a bit stiff, but he now has to go to coburg and earn his place again. from all reports his brother showed him what is required, defensively, last week.

nahas gets the nod in front of him because he has the runs on the board, even if there are not as many as we would like.

will be a test of maric's character how he responds

No al, not this time mate, he wasn't far from our worst, he was second, Jackson was first. Edwards was poo, can't kick over 40 metres aithout turning it over, poor decision making, just not good enough.

I have been off his back as agreed until round one, he proved me right, you can't keep saying how he is/was far from our worst every week or year. He is right at the top of that list.

if you think he was worse than post and vickery then it shows how blinkered you are.

you want to point out his turnovers last week?

obviously you don't think clearances and inside 50s are that important?

Yep fine, Vickery and Post were about the same, don't go on about clearances and inside 50's when the ball is turned over. It wouldn't be so bad if he did something constructive with the ball but he doesn't.

You may wan't to go back a read most of the posters comments.......in particular you Y&B, you will find I am not ranting...he was crap, most agree.

Most also called for him to be dropped this week.

Buts he is in so thats that.

how about addressing the questions, in particular the turnovers?

Is there any chance that rather than just say he was crap, which you have been waiting all pre season to say, that you could tell us why?

and he wasnt our worst last week.

Go back and watch the goal he missed in the 1st, go back and watch how he couldn't make the distance to his target let alone hit it in the first GOING INTO THE 50.....go back and watch him trying to kick 10 metres to another player......go watch the game again.

I don't have rose coloured glassed on R3, perhaps you need glasses, go read my post again, I said he wasn't far from the worst but he was at the top......See, you say TV was worst I think Jackson was.....

the missed goal is granted, but he was not the only one, by any stretch.
the others I don't know what you are talking about.

how about his spotting of the loose man to set up a  goal.

his clearance in the last to find jack, under pressure, but jack missed. is that his fault? does the missed goal make jack the worst player on the ground. or do we give that to martin for his miss at a vital time?

you are blinded by your prejudice. the only real criticism of his game was he didn't get enough it, but he got clearances and put the ball inside 50 more than others without too many ef ups, particularly when you take into account 3/4 of his possesions were contested, but hey winning contested possessions is over rated anyway.

Thats fine al, you have your views and I have mine, but IMO he will not, should not and is not good enough to be part of our future GF side. He will be one of the players turned over in the next couple of years, if not, we won't make a GF with players like him in the team!!

Anyway, moving on, he is in the side this week, lets hope he performs.

Angus Graham not close to ever playing again hey. 1st emergency says otherwise :outtahere

Maric is stiff. Did just as much as Edwards & Nahas but those two have more brownie points so they get to play and Addam gets the ass. Post going out is fair. Played a shocker against Carlton. Great to have Batch in and Kingy was always coming in.

Edwards needs a good one. Although I'm sure his supporters will tell me I'm just not looking hard enough at the good things he does. I do notice them. I also notice the fact he's a momentum killer and he's inconsistent at best.

Why bother WAT same comments with the same blinded people about the same player albeit different year.

Edwards is rubbish. Hang on let me remember all the times when he didn't go all in and attack the ball

The only positive about SE apart from being one game closer to his last for our club is that it seems he had more tackles which has been a big criticism about him for me.

Another  issue i have is how many times he actually touches the ball. Look at his stats over his career and they are always near the bottom. Nowhere near enough for a guy who spends a lot of time on the ground.

Lets face it Jackson is a similar case but at least Jackson brings a harder edge to our club who have known to be soft in the past. SE is just a nothing footballer who will not play in our GF side. That much was evident 2 years ago.

Daniel, you are correct in what you say, it's just that we were specifically discussing his game the other night and whether he was the worst, or among the worst, on the ground, rather than his whole career.

No he was not the worst. Players like Vickery, Maric, Jackson, and Miller were ahead of him IMO. but he was his usual self. Some good things like that kick to Jack and some nice tackles but how long can we wait for him to start producing regular descent football.

It makes me laugh when people call for Post's head. Although warranted, he is still had less chances than say a Edwards and Jackson and takes more time to develop than a mid.

These both are the most inconsistent performers on our list and sadly the truth is maybe they get played because we have no one else yet.

Again its our so called second and third tier players who are letting us down.

No matter if we have 6-8 A graders if our lower tiers have no impact due to their inconsistencies or in Jackson and Edwards cases their failures and these blokes keep getting games because we have nobody else due to our depth then lamentably we will continue to struggle in the lower half of the table.

IMO the blokes who let us down the most against the blues were Vickery, Newman, Houli and Martin. None of those are second or third tier players. Vickery got his hands on the ball plenty of times but couldn't clunk the mark. Still developing and will get stronger and I think he will have plenty of better days this year. Martin did some great things and we know we'll get that from him most weeks, but still looks like he needs another preseason or two to really build up his two way running before he is at his best.  Newman and Houli had off nights.

You are right in a way that we still need some depth, especially in our midfield, and still need to get experience into our back 6, but the outcome of last weeks game shouldn't fall on a few of the bottom end players.

All I hope is history does not repeat with Edwards tomorrow night and he doesn't put in the blinder he put in against the scums last year.

He actually did a couple of nice things Thurs night, laid a couple of nice tackles (one which he should've converted) and a beautiful centering kick to Grigg in the 3rd which resulted in a goal.
He just needs to join the dots and put it all together

Not likely to join the dots when he's still yet to work out how to use a crayon

He still seems like a child. Much like Dookie and TFT.

Not many men on the list.

A child playing a man's game is Shane. Just drifts in and out like the tide.

Dear God.... That was the final straw with Edwards for me, any patience and hope I had for him was dashed in that 5 min spell where he ran into an open 50 twice for no score  :lol

When is MM going to come riding in on his white horse to defend Queen Edwards......he has been very very quiet all week....

Don't come out of the woodwork MM if he plays well this week, you don't deserve the glory if you can't fight the battle.... ;D

Oh yeah when do we play GWS. :lol :rollin :lol

When your right 99.9999999999% of the time you're wrong 0.0000000001% of the time  :ROTFL

I want to see him have a good game for the whole game when it matters against a quality opponent not when he drifts in and out of the play or when we play a side that will prop up the ladder. :thumbsup
