Browne full back, Gus CHB, if you are a quick leading forward for Werribee you would be looking forward to this game.

Gerks! ya got one! Ya got one!!
-
Connors in the 2's ?
Worrying signs Danny boy. :whistle
-
I wouldn't take much notice of where players are named. Kingy, Edwards, Nahas and Dea wouldn't be on the bench if they were playing for Coburg when they are on the extended bench for Richmond.
Good to see Griffs playing. He mustn't have got concussion from the knock to the head last week.

Preview: Coburg Tigers vs Werribee Tigers
VFL website
It will be a battle of Tigers versus Tigers at Mantello Holden Oval on Saturday as Coburg and Werribee look to continue their promising starts to the season, as Adem Saricaoglu previews the game.
Coburg’s talls up forward caused havoc last week against the Hawks, with the Tigers managing to hold their slight lead for all of the last quarter in a hard-fought contest.
With a percentage 15 per cent better than fourth-placed Casey, Coburg can possibly jump into the top four if it can knock off Werribee.
With Coburg down to two on the bench for much of the second half against the Hawks, coach Adam Potter said this week has been about managing his players’ recovery.
“It’s been a good week. We’ve managed our loading to prepare for Werribee and made sure our guys are up for the game,” Potter said.
Potter then said his side needs to be wary of Werribee’s long list of AFL experienced players.
“They’re a very good side and they do have a lot of experience with North Melbourne not having many injuries at the moment.
“It will be a really physical contest and we have to match it with their midfielders, with (Sam) Gibson and (Travis) Tuck especially.
“Our work rate needs to be high to be able to beat them.”
Werribee currently sits in eighth place and will be looking to bounce back after narrowly going down to its western rival, Williamstown, by seven points last week.
The Tigers were wasteful against the Seagulls, relinquishing a 39-point quarter time lead to go down in a high scoring affair at Avalon Airport Oval.
Coach Scott West said his team is expecting to bounce back after reviewing the Williamstown game.
“Any time you lose it’s a tough week but each week you get another chance to make up for it,” West said.
Saturday’s forecast for more showers after what’s already been a soggy week in Melbourne will test both sides, and West said he is expecting it to be a tough slog.
“We know they’ll be competitive and there’ll be a lot of contested footy, especially on such a small ground that’ll probably be wet,” he said.
“Around the stoppages and those sorts of things will be important as well as getting it inside 50 to kick a winning score.
“It’s a very even competition and we know it will be tough game.”
The game kicks off at 2pm.

I watched the ressies and some of the firsts (up to half time). Verrier and Turner are too young to say anything difinitive at this stage, however, Turner did some nice things in patches (took mark of the game). Browne will probably be delisted at the end of the year. As for the firsts, all the mature RFC listed players looked ordinary bar Conners, who showed a little. It seemed like a quarantine area for Tiger dysfunctionals..........let's keep them there :-[
Disclaimer: I'm not counting any of the youngsters in the 'dysfunctional' group.

was at the game ..thought coburgs performance could be best described as plucky. The opposition seemed far cleaner with their disposal in trying conditions. And as the coburg coach pointed out to his players many werent prepared to work hard which was what was needed out there today.Best for coburg..... i thought big Angus was tirelss in the ruck all day. Also thought whitey was good around the packs.Elton could turn out to be something special ,always presents and took some good marks.Connors was good after quarter time and would have been better had he kicked more accurately.I thought connors first quarter was worthy of a good belly laugh as on more than one occasion tried to take mark of the century in conditions where chest marks were the norm. However full credit to the lad as after that he did remove that part of his game. As for griff a mate close by reckons he heard someone say we will send him for scans Monday.the same mate reckons the ice was applied to the side of the knee which might suggest a medial rather than the more severe cruciate etc
-
Good to hear about Elton, the little I've seen of him has me very impressed..

Coburg’s spirits dampened in clash of the Tigers
By Heather Mellican
Coburg website
May 5, 2012
Coburg will be looking to redeem themselves next week after a 51-point loss to Werribee at Mantello Holden Oval today.
The clash of the Tigers was an important game for both teams going in, with Coburg pushing for a spot in the top four and Werribee hoping to gain their place in the top eight.
Werribee controlled most of the play all day, only allowing Coburg a sniff in the third quarter as they controlled their deliveries inside 50, dominated from stoppages and took advantage of Coburg’s turnovers from the first quarter.
Coburg tried to make up the 20 points going into the second quarter with a quick goal from captain, Nick Carnell as the rain began to pelt down, providing no easy ball for either team.
Coburg began to control the ball in their forward half and make space as Werribee’s pressure dropped.
However Werribee quickly struck back with Travis Tuck proving to be relentless in stoppages and Werribee having the numbers all over the ground, taking advantage of easy uncontested opportunities.
Werribee’s Ben Ross proved unstoppable, having the ball on a string and picking up 21 disposals in the first half as the travelling Tigers found themselves with a 32-point lead going into half time.
Coburg showed there was no giving up as a quick goal from Richmond’s Luke McGuane gave the Tigers the momentum they needed.
They began to spread well, create opportunities and get ahead in stoppages early on and reduce the deficit to 20 points.
Two goals from an attacking piece of play from Matthew Arnot finding Todd Elton in the goal-square before Brett O’Hanlon connected from a long opportunity had the home team back in with a chance.
The downside of the third quarter saw Ben Griffiths go down with a possible knee injury. He was helped off the ground and did not appear for the rest of the game.
Both teams showed no sign of giving up as Ross and Leigh Harding tried to swing the play back in Werribee’s favour by taking advantage of Coburg’s overuse of the ball.
Dan Connors provided a good option in the forward 50 and around the ground, while Ben Clifton and Willie Wheeler showed their determination. Despite these efforts, Werribee were still able to hold a 30-point lead going into three quarter time.
Coburg were unable to gain back momentum in the last quarter, with Werribee running all over them and controlling the ball through Harding and Tuck to take home the four points.
Leigh Masters, Nathan Thomas and Willie Wheeler all had promising performances, while McGuane proved to be a worthy option in the forward line, picking up four goals and Connors showed his class, going on to finish the game with three goals and 18 disposals.
Coburg will be striving to claw their way back when they take on North Ballarat next Saturday at Eureka Stadium.

Development coach Greg Mellor summary of how each Richmond-listed player performed at Coburg over the weekend...
Coburg Seniors
Todd Elton
A very positive performance. Seven marks - four of them contested - and two goals, is a good result from a key forward. He also worked up the ground to provide a target. An aspect of the game he is working on, is his ability to delay inside the forward-50 area, either through tackling, working the mark, or corraling.
Matt Arnot
Played only three quarters, given the fact he was an emergency for the Richmond team. Is learning to play the half-forward role and his first half was below standard, with both his ability to find the ball and correctly position at stoppages. His third quarter was much better, with nine disposals generated from correct positioning and an increased work rate.
Brett O’Hanlon
Returned to the senior Coburg side after starring the previous week in the Development team. Had limited impact in the first half, although, defensively, he applied a couple of good tackles. Won more of the football in the second half and kicked a nice, running goal from outside 50 metres.
Jeromey Webberley
Has been ultra-consistent over the first few rounds of the season and constantly knocking on the door for an AFL game. That said, he didn’t have quite the same impact as he had in recent weeks, despite collecting 25 possessions.
Addam Maric
Was beaten by his opponent and, as a result, struggled to have an influence on the game. Is such as good user of the ball and his ability to find space makes him an important player for Coburg. He is working hard on improving the defensive side of his game, so it was good to see him record several tackles.
Ben Darrou
Another impressive performance. Some of his decisions under pressure, particularly with his kicking, were terrific. Defensively, he did a good job and beat his opponent. He is starting to realise just how big he is and use his strength.
Piva Wright
Continues to improve each week and is developing into a very solid VFL defender. Made some really strong spoils, though there were times when he was the drop-off, so he could have marked the ball.
Ben Griffiths
Didn’t have much of an impact on the game in the first half. The team’s defensive set-ups weren’t great, so that didn’t allow the tall defenders to be used on the spread. Hurt his knee in the third quarter, but it doesn’t appear to be too serious.
Matt White
Had a quiet first quarter and, uncharacteristically, was pushed off the ball a couple of times. Improved his output from that point on, finishing with nine clearances - eight of them after quarter-time.
Angus Graham
Again was dominant with his ruckwork, amassing 63 hit-outs. Repeatedly gave the team’s ‘mids’ first opportunity. While his game was solid, he didn’t have his usual impact offensively.
Jayden Post
His performance was below his recent high standards. Offensively, he made some turn-overs that he rarely makes. Defensively, was sound, however.
Dan Connors
A steady improvement from the previous week. Took some strong, contested marks and put himself in good positions to win the ball. His return of 18 disposals, with six shots at goal, is a decent standard to build on.
Luke McGuane
While he did not get the same amount of ball as in the previous match, he again proved to be quite dangerous up forward when in a one-on-one position. Four goals from limited opportunities was a good result for him.
Tom Derricx
Had a mixed day. Took five really good marks in the wet, but wasn’t able to get into the game once the ball hit the ground. Spent some time in the ruck and is developing in this role.
Development
Andrew Browne
Played in the development team last weekend, not because he was out of form, but we wanted him to play a full game in the ruck. Dominated, collecting 23 possessions and amassing an amazing 97 hit-outs, which must be some sort of record. His work rate and effort was outstanding and he was able to get the workout we were after for him.
Steve Verrier
Started to work his way back into form. Has been working very hard on his kicking at training and, as he becomes more composed, he will be rewarded for this in games. Finished with 19 possessions and a terrific goal.
Gibson Turner
Looked a lot livelier and was able to kick a couple of really good goals. Being able to play more consistent football, for longer periods of time, is an area ‘Gibbo’ is focusing on. Is going in this week for surgery on his calf, to fix an annoying problem he has been carrying for a little while and should be back playing after the bye.
