Tiger Vickery doubt suits injury-hit Swans

INJURY-HIT Sydney's chances of beating Richmond at the MCG on Saturday appear brighter as Tigers key forward Ty Vickery is in doubt.
Vickery has not trained this week since being substituted with calf tightness against Port Adelaide last weekend.
Richmond has listed him a 50-50 chance, and he will be assessed at today's main training session -- if he makes it on to the track.
After a slow start to the season, Vickery showed vast improvement in the Tigers' 10-point loss to West Coast in round five.
The Swans, hit by injuries to Adam Goodes, Shane Mumford and Gary Rohan, need to overcome a shocking record at the MCG in recent years.
The 2005 premiers have just one outright win from their past 14 appearances at the MCG and Saturday's match will be their only home and away game there this season.
Sydney, which has won nine of its past 11 games against the Tigers, has not won at the MCG since round 19 in 2009 when it defeated Richmond by 55 points.
In eight games since, the Swans' best result was a draw with Melbourne last year.
In Sydney's latest 12 losses at the headquarters of Australian football, three have been in early finals -- in 2007, 2008 and 2010.
Richmond hopes to enlist Melbourne's growing Indian population in its bid to win for the third time this season.
Before the twilight fixture, adjacent Punt Road oval will be open to a Bollywood-themed function and a special prime-viewing area has been reserved for Richmond's Indian supporters at the MCG.
Tigers president Gary March will host Bollywood superstar Vidya Balan at his pre-game president's function and she will deliver the match ball to umpires before the game.

Well that explains the strapping on his cakf after the game, but why did they say a corky to the buttock? ;D

:o I don't want that! :)
If it did happen in the pub then at least that would go some way to explaining his poor form.

Derickx may have to come in. Not sure if his form warrants it though - anyone know how he has been travelling? We don't have another forward come ruckman floating around otherwise. Gus would be a better replacement for him in the ruck but offer very little going forward imo but he would be the other option.
I think Vickery will play despite the injury concern.

RICHMOND key forward Ty Vickery has been ruled out of the Tigers' pivotal match against Sydney this weekend.
Coach Damien Hardwick this morning confirmed Vickery, who has endured a lacklustre start to the season, would miss due to a calf strain. He did, however, defend Vickery's performances so far this season, believing he had been not been delivered the ball in the forward line as often as he should have.
Hardwick also predicted Vickery, a sharp improver last year, was set for a "big game" once he recovered from injury.

Actually a big loss despite his poor form of late. Vickery has the ability to kick multiple goals, is a good grab and has the agility & height to make him difficult to match up on. In the ruck Gus would be a better option but as a forward/ruck Vickery is our best option when uninjured.
The problem is is that their is no obvious replacement for him which may mean they tell big Ivan to ruck out the game and use Miller as the backup hoping the added leg speed we bring in can compensate....risky if this happens especially if the big fellow goes down/blows up.

nearly have to plus Gus this week
-
Graham or Derrickx.
Depends if they want a ruck/forward or a forward/ruck.
-
Play Gus and park him in the goal square.
They will have to double team him.
Then get the mid-fielders to kick it over his head.
