Wow...O'Hanlon.....I mean the kid has shown a bit at Coburg, but this is 'out-of-the-blue' - I do like the selection though.

Yep agree about it being an"out of the blue" selection. Happy for the kid though.

Serious question - is it risky seeing the kid hasn't played for just on 3 weeks thanks to the pathetic mess that is the VFL draw?

Why is Foley out? O'Hanlon was a good pick up and has lots of potential IMHO.

Cetainly is a big surprise. The kid has shown he can play at Coburg, but not sure his form warrants a game.

I suppose he will be sub most likely. He is a good grab and has great disposal.

Will be interesting to see how he goes.

Risky? I suppose, although the boys would have done alot of match simulation as a group in that period. Brett is a fast lead-up one grab forward with a lovely boot. He has surprised me with his agility and below knee work at Coburg in the 2 games I have seen him play so we may have found another one here :thumbsup. Good luck to the lad. BTW I don't think he will be the sub, I'm tipping he'll start the game on the HFF.

Foley has a bruised heel - which is a very tricky injury. He could be out for a few IMO.

We just have to get through the next 2 weeks. Really looking forward to seeing O'Hanlon. I thought he would spend 12 months at coburg but from the PSD and Rookies, I really liked him and Gibson Turner as selections. Lets see how O'Hanlon goes.  :gotigers

Who do we think will be the inside mid replacement for Axel?  He's a big out for us.

good point about getting through the next two weeks. My guess they are not risking anything with foley and even if he was right next week would probably rest him giving him a three week break.

regardless of how o'hanlen goes this week he might as well have a run against sheedy's kids next week.

foley has been good for us this year and will be missed. As others have said, conca will probably go to the midfield, which again should follow on to next week against the kids.

hopefully martin can step up this week, who, while being far from bad, hasn't impacted games like he can

As soon as I read Foley's name I almost went panic stations. But as everyone has put, we've got the blokes to run through. Will be a good test without him anyway. Good sides still manage wins without these kinds of players.

Medium forward. Honestly, I wrote the kid off at the start. I just saw him as a consolation prize after missing out on McCarthy in the PSD. But in fact he's been one of the most impressive at Coburg this year. Really eager to see him at AFL level now.

You want a 25kilo bloke in at centre bounces trying to win the hard ball and get clearances?

I'm with you PNGQ Tiger. Foley is a massive out for us.

With a few showers anticipated Foley would have been invaluable for us. Time to step up for someone

like a Conca . :thumbsup

wingman/HFF from what i can gather. These types are hardly ever what you would call inside mids. sounds like he is a good mark and can kick goals from 50 though.

Arnott is more your inside type, but I'd guess they felt it better to move someone with at least some experience into the middle. Hardwick mentioned in a presser that our clearance winning ratio had dropped off in the last couple of weeks and they wanted to rectify that. Losing foley's not going to help that cause, so probably not the best time to be giving a close to pure inside mid his debut

When has Nahas played as a ball winning mid? He's outside. Think people are overrating Foley's ball winning ability. He's been good but we still have Deledio, Tuck & The Chimp. All 3 of them get a lot of contested ball. Foley out will just = more time on ball for Conca I'd say. We'll be right.

It's Freo guys. They only score 7 goals a game.

Yeah actually Arnott may of been a good choice, I mean just about everyone bagged Griffiths in the two's until he had a crack in the one's....

Will be an interesting game to look at this stat again. Freo have been winning the hit outs because of Sandilands' size, but have been losing clearances. Last year we were trained to win clearances from opposition hitouts. I hope that is still really fresh in the minds.

Foley is a big loss

I think mini Maric should take Foley's place in the midfield rotations.  Good chance for him to show his wares.

Replacing King also very difficult - they might actually rotate Dea through there for his defensive pressure.

O'Hanlon the sub Id say.

Conca can not IMO play Foleys role and I dissagree, Foley wins the ball a hell of a lot and his contested centre clearances are up in the top....so I don't think he is very overrated at all!

Yep leave Nahas in the fwd 50 waiting for Big Ivan to take a mark there so he can get the easy handball receive. Hapenned in the last two weeks. :thumbsup

conca can get clearances.
The kid is smoooth in traffic. He wont win the amount of contested ball foley gets but he'll use it with more poise.

Martin is the one that will get an increased workload.

Conca wins his own ball in the backline and is not afraid of the tough stuff Nahas on the other hand like all small forwards love the handball receives and will be a pushover in the centre square. Can't agree with you there PNGQT. Conca is the obvious choice. If we could get Nahas pace and Conca's hardness we have Foley's identical replacement.

Surorised Clarke is not playing for Freo. Perphaps he is injured. There is a cloud over Hill's fitness as well.

I agree Foley is a big loss but had to play it cautiously. I think Conca should take Foley's place in the midfield rotations.

Good luck to O'Hanlon. I hope he has a blinder.

Agree O'Hanlon should be the sub. Jackson should play forward and play King's role in his absence.
