From Jon Ralph's 'the buzz' in today's Herald-Sun ....
IS Saturday’s clash against Greater Western Sydney shaping as yet another danger game for Richmond?
No Jack Riewoldt, and maybe no Nathan Foley yet again.
And up against a GWS side that will have Jon Patton on debut and Jeremy Cameron working into some impressive form.
Who kicks the goals for the Tigers without Jack?
Good sides go up and take care of business against pesky expansion sides.
Last year a Round 10 loss to Port Adelaide in Darwin turned into a huge slump.
The Tigers lost eight of nine games in that period, quickly going into free fall.
Richmond has improved since then, but the test comes against GWS before the bye.

every poo team thinks they can beat us.

Sad but true!
We need to stamp ourselves on these games as much as getting wins over teams in the 8.
Am I worried about this game? Damn straight I am, even more so going to Cairns again and if we lose I am entitled to my two cents.
-
Agree danger game. Am worried about the game. Agree every crap team thinks they can beat us. Need to smash GWS as confirmation that we are different side to the past and an improved team to be feared
-
Lose to GWS or Suns then we are no different than where we were 12 months and the last 2 months counts for poo

Agree, both those games are "Must Win" games or we have come nowhere this season ::)
-
I think we'll win by 60 points but we should be aiming for double to get our percentage up.
-
Does everyone forget we beat GWS by about 400 points in the pre season?
Any SuperCoaches out the put Deledio as captain, after last weeks tag he'll go beserk on Saturday, as he did in pre season against them 30+ possession and 5 goals.
-
They are a different team to the one we played in preseason just like Geelong was too. GWS was level with Geelong up until half time so we need to ensure we turn on the afterburners in the second half. Coming off a bye and with our petrol almost empty, this game will be closer than we all hope :-[
-
Weaker teams think they can get the win against us because they know we have are weak mentality and brainfades when were up and running as we seen last week.Need to stamp our authority from the outset. No excuses with Riewolt and Foley or without them !!!!.
-
Win first then worry about margin
-
You can't worry about the margin when you have already won.

Perhaps I should have said get into a position where the game is won and then work on the margin & percentage

Good weather for it :thumbsup

We need to go up there & smash them by 100 points. Percentage is our most important aspect to this game. We must crush this club on the ground. Players need to build alot of confidence from this clash.

Play to our structure. Beat your opponent!
... Score & percentage will take care of itself.
-
exactly
-
you guys, if we beat them on the scoreboard the win should take care of itself. :thumbsup
-
No poo Ralphy. :thumbsup

That will hinder our game, sap our confidence and play to their greatest strengths (ala Fremantle). We should not take this game lightly at all particularly given our outs. I will be happy just to win comfortably under these circumstances. I worry when people think any game is given and start talking percentage. We're not their as a club yet which doesn't mean we should aspire to be there but we need to maintain perspective.
Beat them first at the contest and give them the same respect we gave the 'better' teams defensively. The percentage will take care of itself then.

After the Freo game why are people thinking we are no good in the wet?
A fortnight before Freo we thrashed Hawthorn in the wet, was that a fluke or was it because we played well?
I think it is because we palyed well which is what we need to do this week
You make a great point Stripes - we must show then respect, be switched on and play the sort of footy we were before Freo and the result will go our way. Don't do that and we run the risk of being beaten IMHO
-
Not saying we cant play in the wet but second to the ball and fiddling around when we did have it is not good wet weather football, against the Hawks the rain was the turning point in the game because we were switched on, give GWS a sniff in a close wet weather game and it could be the result from hell.
-
so the important part is whether or not we are switched on, not the weather. :P
The weather is irrelevant, we just dont want to give them a sniff.

Hawthorn play a very similar style to ourselves so were equally effected by the conditions.

Fair enough point although the fiddling around thing is something that crept into our game last week and that could be because we werent switched on but moving the ball quickly is the key in the wet as once it hits the deck it can be a lottery, better up in our attacking zone than theirs. We just need to adjust to the conditions as quickly as possible, not sure if anyone knows how Skoda stands up to alot of water, they have certainly had their fair share of rain so far this week.

Great post and spot on.
-
Wish I was going to this but alas will go to PuntRoad for a few ales.
Time to put lowly teams to the sword.
-
Some lamented on here that Freo's bigger bodies in the wet smashed us last week.
I wonder what will be said this week when our bigger bodies go in against their kids in the Sydney slop. We need to play smart, hard tough and show respect to the opposition. The game won't win itself we have to go out and earn the win. We go in with this attitude and it will all work out for us.

GWS actually have a big bodied and relatively experienced midfield. Contested football is their number one priority.
-
Gws side last week was 1.1 yrs younger and 2-3 kg smaller than rfc...
-
It's a danger game if we turn up like last week and start playing like we're millionaires trying to play dry weather footy in the wet :banghead. The one bonus is we played GWS in the preseason (won by 74) so they shouldn't be totally unfamiliar to us.
-
this game worries me
-
If falou drops deledio on his head again stuff fight dont walj away
-
Bla bla bla.....last week was the danger game, we blew it...
Crap, this is a pened in win, end of story, blow this and IMO we still have the weak mentality issue..
-
We will smash em will be our biggest winning margin of the year hell the boys are going to rape em without vaseline in the poo hole
-
Apparently large amounts of rain are expected!
Eeeeeeek !
-

:lol
I agree. We should win by over 100 points no problems. That's what i'm expecting today. If north can do it there's no reason we can't smash 'em.
Danger game..... rubbish!

Are you expecting a win that big if it rains all day?
-
I expect Richmond to at least capitalize on the 4 points that gws are going to gift us if we break the game open early we will really stuff em up

Danger game. Hahahahahaha
Agree 100%
We have no business of being spoken about in the same breath as finals if we can't smash GWS as most teams have
-
At the ground now. Have to say it is a great little stadium!
And it's raining.
Ground seems ok but slippery watching the readies game.

why not? Rain hail or shine we should smash 'em. No excuses really. That's if we want to be considered a finals team.
We will find out in a few hours won't we.
-
Absolutely bucketing at the minute.
Win is what important today. Margin isn't :thumbsup
-
AFL conspiring with NWO globalists and used HAARP to force crap weather in Sydney and make it hard for Richmond again :banghead :banghead
-
Good test to see if we learnt anything from last week, will we KISS or will we continue to try and possess the ball? It's all well and good to have a mantra of being so well drilled in your style of game that you can still beat the opposition despite the predictability, but you need to be able to adapt like we so clearly didn't last week.
:gotigers

I have changed my mind, we cant play in wet and the reason is that we seem to only have a plan A and that plan doesnt work in the wet. Was clear for all to see, sorry for coming out with this after everyone got it out of their system yesterday but only got back from the big smoke today and needed to vent somewhere. Its honestly one of the worst games i have ever had the displeasure to watch and actually walked out the stadium feeling like we lost. Thank God for the bye :banghead :banghead :banghead

What kinda football game do you expect to be played in non stop rain, want me to drag out he list of upsets the tiges have coe up with when the conditions neutralise the contest :wallywink
