-
yep, I am in Essendon, Unbelievable here
-
Anyone feel that in Melbs?
-
Felt it down here in SE too. A lot stronger than the ones a year or two ago. The whole house shook :o.
-
I live in Bonbeach, felt a 10-15 second jolt and heard a little brick movement in our house. Was lying on the couch, it felt like I was floating on the ocean!
-
Yep strongest one I've ever felt. Whole house shook. Felt like someone banging on the security doors. Would be over 4 on the Richter Scale.
-
Mooroolbark, was starting to wonder if I should get out of the house!!!!!
Quite exciting really
-
Yep whole house :pray
Was bloody loud! The water in the pool was moving about afterwards!
Over 4 for sure
-
Yep felt it too, I was like WTF. So essendon, northern suburbs to.. Checked my FB mates all the way down in cranbourne felt that so it cover fair distance
-
Most of the recent ones have had an epicentre around Korumburra. I assume this one was from there as well. Tonights one would be 5.

Mates in the Dandenongs and Doncaster copped it too

That was a ripper. Thought I was going crazy. I have a raised floor and it was pretty noticeable. Plates in the sink clunked around and water in a glass went all T-Rex from Jurassic Park like.

I'll remember that next time there is an earthquake.
Another thing, it has now been half an hour since the tremors and still no seismology reports on the BoM website. Pathetic!

Apparently BoM and Geoscience servers crashed after being flood with traffic lol. I imagine all info will go up shortly.

5.5, 16km southwest of Moe
-
A 5.2-magnitude earthquake has shaken Melbourne and parts of Victoria.
Windows were rattled and floors rocked as the tremor hit around 8.55pm (AEST) and lasted for around 30 to 40 seconds.
Send photos and video of the damage to news.feedback@ninemsn.com.au
The US Geological Survey website registered a 5.2-magnitude quake 10km southwest of Moe, at a depth of 9.9km.
The Bureau of Meteorology said the quake was felt further afield than Melbourne, with reports coming in from Bright and Myrtleford in the northeast and Wonthaggi in the southeast of Victoria.
More to come...

Wasn't an earthquake just bogans having a rumble. Moe ran out of Moccos and Jim Beam and then Ricky Nixon came by looking for a reception. :lol :rollin :lol
What do you mean dwaino?
-
poo eh, being not to far from Moe it shook the poo out of the house here...
-
What do you mean dwaino?
I assume you got that line from the BoM site or something. I know they chuck it up for anything, but it just sounded so stupid for an inland tremor :lol

5.5 earthquake rocks Victoria
Erin Michael
From: Herald Sun
June 19, 2012 10:14PM
A MAGNITUDE 5.5 earthquake has rocked the southeast coast of Australia.
Seismologists recorded the massive murmur – almost 10km deep - at 8.53pm.
The mammoth quake spread itself statewide, reaching as far as 10km across south-west of Moe, 18km west of Morwell, 30km off Traralgon and 78km south-west of Sale.
A spokeswoman for Geoscience Australia said its recordings showed it was a magnitude 5.5 earthquake, which was more accurate than international seismologist estimates.
The epicentre has been identified 16km south-west of Moe, at the Latrobe Valley in Victoria’s east.
“Our preliminary information is that it’s a 5.5,” she said.

We're in Traralgon, thought it was a train or something until the house started to rumble. The little fella slept through it, but the little girl was a bit frightened.
My magazines at work (Newborough) have tipped over and there is plastery dust on my desk from the ceiling.

Strongest tremor in Victoria in 109 years they were saying this arvo on the news.

A pretty cool pic of where earthquakes have occured around the world since 1898. It shows pretty much shows where all the 'borders' of tectonic plates are.

My wife is Filipino and I've spent 3 years over there living in Northern Luzon.
That area is glowing on the pic and it's something you have to experience. Earthquakes are common, the Filipinos don't batter an eyelid.
They are more focussed on the continual typhoons that come
-
Did anyone feel another tremor not as strong as the one a month ago?
-
Felt the floorboards rumble, thought the pizza man was at the door. I must not have been imaging things after all!
