The worst opening ceremony in the history of the modern Olympics. A complete shambles and a disgrace. A waste of time and to be honest I dont know what they were thinking but it was crap. Lets hope the rest of it is better.

Not sure why our media is surprised by the lack of gold medals. We were always going to struggle at these Olympics with very few household names.

With China doing well in the pool I was hoping it would mean success for us at the ping pong table.

our team is a stuffing disgrace. Steph Rice is talking about retiring at age 16 FFS. Train harder you stuffwit and win at the next Olympics.

To be fair, it's mainly just our swim team that are rooted. The whole lot came in pretty hubris. In many other sports our guys and girls have been making it into finals left, right and center.  :cheers

We would've won gold medals if all these non-swimming nations didn't turn up  :doh  ;D

I think the past few Olympics have raised people's and especially the media's expectations unrealistically for this squad. As you allude to dwaino this Olympics team had mostly done sweet stuff all prior to these Olympics. We were always going to come second to the Brits in the cycling. I remember the 70s and 80s and if we won even one gold medal it was almost time for a national holiday. We're probably returning to our norm without the individual freaks around this time to win a swag of gold medals themselves.

Boomers taking it right up to Russia at the moment. Hope they can keep it up for four quarters as the Russians proved against Spain that they won't relent. Mewly and Anderson on fire with the 3 pointers.

Ingles' confidence is flying and Mills is still being a gun. Need to keep the pressure on Russia and we could win this  :pray

edit: down by a point, 4.1 seconds left and call a time out. NOOOOOOOOO Why did Mills try to seal it with a 3 instead of just 2 to make it a 3 point buffer :(

Did you see the race? Really gave the Cypriot nothing. I thought it was a great scene at the line when the Cypriot gave Slingsby a nod after that battle, and even the British bloke shook his hand. Congrats to Cyprus for winning their first ever medal too.

anything else?
Title: Re: London Olympics 2012
Post by: dwaino on August 08, 2012, 11:55:26 AM
Steve Hooker, women's basketball beat the yanks and progress, men's basketball are up against the dream team in the semi so are probably stuffed but already upset the Russians and pushed Spain for almost four quarters, and has the BMX been yet? We got some snot nosed in that who was world champ prior to the games.

To think if the swimmers didnt choke we could hae cracked 10gold this Olympics.

Excellent, as long as none of the budget to our Sheets team is cut as a result, can't afford to damage the national psyche by not coming home with a gold in our premier event
