Can i please have some help ladues and germs.
Im trying to burn a DVD(copy) and have never done so before.
Its about the copyright drama.
What software do Yo'll use when "backing up" your DVDs.
Links to freeware downloads are welcome.

Ox, take it from someone who has ripped more than 200 movies (most of them porn), these are the programs to get:
- DVD shrink
- DVD Decrypter
Both are avialable from the web.
DVD Shrink is the main program to use, as it can back up all your files and now has a self burning process to go with it. Awesome!
Sometimes though it can't beat the copy protection on the DVD, so that's where DVD decrypter comes in. It can penetrate a nun's cakehole no problem. Backs up DVD's pretty much without fail I've found.
The thing is though that DVD decrypter does not compress files to fit onto the 4.5g format DVD discs that are normally available.
SO, once you have run DVD decrypter and have say for e.g. a 7.5 gig file backed up on your comp, then back up the 7.5 gig file using DVD Shrink and it should work (as DVD decrypter will have taken off the copyright protection).
Normally though you should be right to go just using DVD Shrink.
Cheers and don't burn anything I wouldn't burn.
:thumbsup
-
i also often "back up" my dvd's and agree with everything that John has said.
LMAO@penetrating a nun's cakehole.
LMAO@the pope asking for a "piece" of cake
Sounds like an American Pie movie ;D
-
Ahhh so that's how you do it - Thanks for that :thumbsup
-
I was waiting all day for someone to answer this thread and i'm still none the wiser lol
I can't play DVDs on my puter, so i presume i can't burn them.
Can i buy some kind of attachment or something?
-
lmfaooo Moi.
First thing's first, have you got a dvd rom on your comp? :rollin
You can play movies through windows media player, but it turns out half schitty. There are some other programs to get to watch DVD's on your comp, but ultimately fuq playing them on your comp, you want to use them on your DVD player! If you are desperate to watch them on your comp (lmfaoo@you being into porn) then download some software like Cyberlink Power DVD.
If you download dvd shrink and dvd decrypter you will be able to burn movies and watch them on your DVD player. :thumbsup

Just got back to this thread.
I found exactly what you said Johnboy, only I hung out at geek forums to get the lowdown.
I forgot all abot this - spewin.
Would have saved me heaps of days.
I found that dvd shrinker has been able to "back up" all things so far.lol.
MTV Pimp my ride season 1 has been "backed up"
Meet the Fockers has been "backed up"
Ray Charles Movie has been "backed up"
Journey Live with Steve Perryopolous has been "backed up."
Backing up rocks :thumbsup.
I am trying a beta program atm called DVD Rebuilder
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd-rebuilder.cfm
Will let u know if there are any major quality differences
-
Another question.
How long does it take u guys to burn AND decrypt a Standard DVD ???
-
ROFLMFAOOOOOOOOOOO@Journeyopoulos on DVD :help
lmfaooo@the addiction that is backing up.
Pretty soon you stop watching what you were after and just get absorbed in the accumulation of DVDs.
Re how long it takes to back up a DVD, usually 45 mins to an hour for me. But in extreme cases 20 minutes to 2 hours.
I burn DVDs with Nero, and it takes 20 odd minutes
-
Yeah Ox,
It generally takes me around 15 mins to decript the DVD and copy to the hard drive.
About 15-20 to compress the original,
and then about 10 mins to burn on to disc so that the original is "backed up"
I currently have backed up about 150 movies and am working on backing up even more!!!! :thumbsup
I just bought another burner last weekend and it is flying!
LMAO@ Ox hanging out with geeks and offering them something to smoke in exchange for info on how to back up DVD's
I am just visualising the scene from Revenge of the Nerds where Booga gives the asian dude some weed and he falls over.
By the way, i have a back up of Revenge of the Nerds.

Yeah just a bit of freeze framing once and again, but nothing major.
I used to run 'deep analysis' a little while ago or as I like to call it 'deep anal retentive analysis' but now just go straight to backing 'em up. I find the quality is just the same.
lmfaoooooo@how everyone bought into the DVD craze despite not being able to see any picture quality difference b/w DVD and VHS.
lmfaooooo@marketing campaigns leading everyone by the nose.
-
Yeah you can get some freeze framing in the "back ups" :lol
I have found that it is normally to do with the quality of the original.
I have a new shop near by who i do a lot of backing up for and they keep their discs in top condition.
They have a machine there which buffs(LMAO) and polishes the discs to remove any scratches etc
i have had very little trouble with there products.
I have just got back from the video shope actually. I got 8 weekly's for $8, not a bad deal. Only condition is that i have to "Back them up" before i return them!!! :shh

hahaha! don't forget your mates Bully.
Next time you get Sound of Music or a video of my taste ;), you know which bay i sit in lol
-
Hey Ox,
What speed are you burning at?
Sometimes the disc you are burning to can only handle up to a certain speed, even if it can burn at 12 speed or something like that it may be better to back to down to about 8 and see how you go.
I wouldnt be burning any faster than 8 speed as a max.
4 speed is probably ideal.

Could also be the discs you are burning stuff onto. Maybe try another brand. But take Bully's advice first.

so what do u use to convert ure dvd fiules to mpegs kiddies ??
I used YASA VOB to MPEG Converter. The only snag is the free trial version only converts 50% of the .VOB dvd file to mpeg so you need make the dvd file twice as long as you need so it works lol. You have to pay for it to get the proper 100% conversion version.

That's brilliant MT ! :thumbsup :thumbsup
Pure genius. :scream :bow :bow

After trying to find out ways to put my video on DVD, suddenly realised tonight Pinnacle has an instant DVD recorder.
Simple play the video straight onto DVD

Don't get too excited, it didn't work - but that was the aim of the game, to put the games on DVD
Still can't get the audio - everything else is working except that grrrr!
And do you think i can get an answer from Pinnacle?
Of course not.
Technical support! What technical support.
Try to log into their chat line thing - and i have an account but says that account doesn't exist. So I create a new one with the same name and it says it already exists :rollin
The most pathetic name in this sort of equipment - our studio said they were thinking of getting it but heard about all of the troubles you have with it and said, forget it.
Shame because when you can actually get it up and running it's great :banghead
