According to the AFL website our most improved this year is Cotchin and next year's bolter will be Reece Conca. Your Thoughts?

RICHMOND
Most improved: It's a bit cheeky to say that Trent Cotchin is the Tigers' most improved considering he won the 2011 Jack Dyer Medal. But then the Tigers' best and fairest medal has really been a boutique award for many years, and Cotchin has now made such a leap that he's among the top few in the competition. The 22-year-old's game against the Bulldogs in round 20, in which he exhibited almost every skill known to the game, was a football master class. He might just win the Brownlow.
Next year's dream bolter: Since Richmond took Reece Conca at No.6 in the 2010 national draft, there have been murmurs about whether he was worth such a high pick. But in recent rounds Conca has shown enough to suggest that the Tigers have made an astute choice. Conca is developing into a clearance specialist. He had eight clearances against Melbourne in round 15, seven against North Melbourne in round 17 and six against the Brisbane Lions in round 19. They’re good numbers to build on.

Ben Darrou will become our 'Gwilt'.
-
Bolter will be Cloke. woah :shh
-
Post and Griffith. As a rule its the third/fourth year players that come on.
-
I agree cotch as most improved edwards a distant second
-
I hope its Batch next year. Had a good first season and let down a bit this year although you can excuse a second year player. Mainly cause I like his style, just tough and simple

I agree. The club would be crazy to get rid of Post
-
know it wont go down too well and i like others think there are areas of his game that he must get better at. but id say sean grigg has improved heaps.
compared on what he produced at adelaide compared now to his to his out put and consistency at richmond big ivan would win hands down
-
I agree with Daffey on both counts.
-
Conca would be "most improved" in the context of the thread, Cotchin is just flat out the best...
Next year, if we don't get Cloke and Griff is played at stuff out, if he is played back again forget it. He has a massive roost and is very tall, he also has good hands. Wasted down back for mine, play him where we recruited him to play. His Apprenticeship and learning in the backline how to be a forward has finished...
-
Next season..
:pray Astbury, Griffiths, Vickery, Helbig

Not a dig before you get angry I'm genuinely curious. Why do you think Griff down back is a waste? I can't get my head around that train of thought

Because he doesn't touch it down back?

Like I said he is a massive kick and could kick goals from 50+ quite easily if played at CHF. He is better on the lead and tends to get caught behind a bit to often when playing down back. He is also very tall, crumbers can feed off him in our forwad line instead of our opponents like they do now in the back line. He would support Riewoldt very nicely as well. He is a forward, that is what he played his footy as until he came to us, that is what we recruited him for and thats where he should play IMO...but its only MO..
He also seems slow down back and is not agile or quick enough for the faster forwards.

Okay yeah you've made some good points. On the massive kick, I like it just as much from kick out as kicking goals. Yeah agree he would make a good CHF but personally I just believe he has the traits to be a good defender if he can get his head around it. I rekon he should play up forward except in maybe the case a resting ruckman is having a rest forward, our backs just seem to small for them

Totally agree, our backs are way too small, thats why I have been suggesting we recruit big backmen such as Merritt (trade, if possible) and another, Merritt is very mobile for his size and he gets to the contest quickly ..That would free Griff up to play forward...anyway.

Maybe Chaplin will give you what you want :cheers
Hypothetically, what if we get Cloke?

That would work, remember we also have Vicks coming back, I really hope that guy has a breakout year too.

In regards to next year agree with Wayne and Madtiger

That was my hinted point, would have Vickery in before Griff

Hopefully a new draftee otherwise Vickery to help out and Jack and Grimes has a belter year as he is the glue in our backline, well superglue as he really takes our defense up a few notches when he is playing.
This year it has been Ivan Maric and Morris who have raced out of the gates.
If we get two more like them in the draft,I will be very happy.
P.S. forgot Reece Conca.Hope he really goes another step next year and Post and Griffiths improve more as well.
-
Can we claim The People's Mullet as our most improved? Or does he have to have been here last year to qualify?
