Title: All the best in the off season people
Post by: yellowandback on September 01, 2012, 06:25:24 AM
Another season without finals.

Since 2001, I've moved interstate back home and overseas, had 2 kids with another on the way, bought and sold and bought 2 homes, drunk copious amounts of beer at the footy but not one drop at a game featuring my club at a finals.
That's a lot of water  er amber anyway under the bridge without a final.

Despite another year of disappointment at not playing finals, I've enjoyed this year. After 2009, I swore I'd just enjoy the footy as it came, wouldn't get sucked into looking too far into the horizon - not matter what - and enjoy the development of the club at all levels on and off field.
As a result, I'm not bitter but as I mentioned to my wife - I pretty much love everything about the club colours, jumper, theme song etc just dislike the win/loss record.
Seeing a once a generation Tiger bloom, a number of young kids emerging, a few struggling but still showing enough to give me some hope and a coaching panel still with L plates but Recognising as much

The one kid who might be a bit of a barometer in "development" both the kid himself and the clubs track record in developing players in Matthew Dea.
Honesty, I thought he was hopeless but he is slowly but surely coming along. Still not good enough but starting to emerge.
I hope your off season is less frustrating (for some) the build up to 2013 begins on Monday!

Yep about to enter the silly season. Finals talk for a month and then draft talk, but from Dec to Feb people on this forum go effing stir crazy.

I wonder if it will be as odd as last year?

Given the endless crap posted during the season I would imagine the off season to be a load of mindless banter.

Offseason - where Richmond will be named as "interested" in nearly all high profile players that are mentioned as changing clubs and where 99% of rumours on SEN are crap :yep lol.

Gawd trade week goes for 3 weeks this year  :help. That means 2.5 weeks of nudge nudge wink wink rumours from the friend of a cousin of a mate who overheard a club official say he heard from the bootstudder's nephew that Richmond is after whathisname. If this is a fringe Essendon player then add that we are giving up Cotchin, Martin and Deledio for this guy because in the eyes of Bombers fans all their players are future guns and worth 3 A-graders in return ::). Then in the final day and a half of the trade period there'll be a mad rush and we'll trade for at least one recruit that makes most of us go  :banghead and question the marbles of those running the Club's footy dept.  ;D. Fun times await :rollin.

Then we get a couple of months of blokes like Madtiger telling us how great our young players are. Post CHB, Elton CHF and (instert KP we draft) to play out of the square with Riewoldt.
