Title: Yeah or Neah - Jayden Post?
Post by: one-eyed on September 20, 2012, 12:34:47 PM
Next up is Postie.

The 23 year old played 8 games all up this year. Started the season in the side but had a shocker in round 1 and wasn't seen again until round 17 where he kept his place in the team playing the final 7 games straight. His best individual efforts statistically were 19 possies plus 8 marks against Freo in our round 21 loss at Subiaco and 18 disposals plus 6 marks the following week in our flogging of Essendon.

Career stats:

Trade him if we get an offer good enough, and I'd be happy with a 3rd rounder.

Neah! Only played 8 games due to Grimes injury. Too slow, always out of position and still lacks a lot of confidence. Trade or Delist.

Keep him if we are going to play him.  Otherwise trade him for whatever we can get.  He has potential but that won't be realised in the reserves.

Won't make any difference to where we finish on the ladder? He doesn't concede many goals at all and more games will make him  better player.

If posty is getting a new contract, the club must see something many of us here have missed.Could it be that he's a classic late developer like tucky.I mean I really do want him to succeed and become a star ,but in watching him over the years i just cant see where thats going to come from.To be honest he lost  me after the first game this year against carlton, when it was so obvious that carlton were under directions to  play through posty.i felt so emabarassed that night for us and more so for him the player.

A couple of Postie rumours from BF:

"Just one of the latest rumours I've heard from an inside source, Aaron Cornelius is likely to be traded to Richmond in exchange for Jayden Post. Both players frustrated with lack of opportunities at clubs and unhappy with 1-year contracts offered. It appears highly likely this trade will go through as Richmond are looking for a 2nd/3rd forward with experience to assist Riewoldt and Brisbane want a KPD to add to their developing backline. It's probably a perfect swap IMO as both players need a change and have shown enough potential to be given a couple years at a new club. "

I'm hearing that Post will quit afl footy to go back and play local footy with his mates

I'm far from convinced he's not good enough. Playing the last 4 games of every season isn't a good way to play with confidence. You can see it in his game but you can also see why he could be a pretty good player too. He's ahead of Astbury for me. Probably equal with Griffiths  8)
Post is only a handful of games away from playing really good footy.

You know what, I don't buy this confidence excuse. His just a dud, his had plenty of time to gain confidence in the lower levels and he still just doesn't perform consistently even at that level. Didn't seem to be lacking confidence when he took an eternity to make a decision round one and got tackled by Garlett, someone with no confidence would rush the kick but not him.

I would not necessarily say that Post is in front of Astbury given the significant injury Astbury had. Post really needs to impose himself in matches which to date he hasn't

Depends on what club you mean.  If it's another AFL club then you're safe as houses, if it's the Lower Kumbukta West U9's then prepare to throw up.

reckon just about everyone agrees hes in the gun.
think what we are debating here is should we give him one more yr. personally i think we should but can understand if he gets cut. there are some mouth watering traits to this kid but there are some real shocking weaknesses too.

its like knowing he has some real genuine talent but your waiting and waiting for the switch to flick on and your starting to wonder if the switch will ever flick on. its to the stage where its all or nothing with him.
do we keep him and hope the switch goes to on or do we wash our hands anticpating it wont.

Jayden Post - This one has gained momentum over the last few weeks. Rumours are Dogs & Brisbane may be keen not sure the Tigers think that much of him to dismiss it completely.

However, now the Dogs have pick 21 maybe a pick upgrade for the Tigers and maybe a later pick. Or Brisbane maybe a player rumours Karnezis but think the Tigers might have to add something there.
