Title: Any chance of the prodigal son returning ?
Post by: mat073 on September 21, 2012, 10:32:08 AM
You all know who I'm talking about.
Has played only one game this year, almost certain to be cut by his current club.

I'm serious, get him as depth. Would cost nothing and he can rotate through the midfield and sit in the pocket when resting.

Better than Dea, Edwards, Jackson, Nahas.

only if you subscribe to the theory that a players worth is based on what pick he was drafted at.

WAS better than Edwards (Titch went well passed Lionel Richies output this year) & isn't better than Nahas....Dea = undecided but young enough to persist with & Jacko/Tambo on par...

surely better "depth" players we can look at & think it would be a backward step - we need to get rid of list cloggers not add them

If Tambo dropped the muscle, regained his pace and played forward - he could almost take Nahas spot.
He just looks too big (that's right) too big.
Watching Lewis Jetta last night cast my mind back to that first pre season of Ritchies.
He's probably too far gone but if he was to make it - kicking goals, blistering speed and cocky confidence

Would prefer Tambling over Rodan.

I wouldn't.  I was a Richie fan back in the day but his stint in Adelaide has proved that the problem was with Richie, not the club.  D-Rod is at least competitive, if not error prone at times, Richie is simply not up to it.  Good bloke I'm sure but not an AFL footballer, even as depth.

Weird how Tambling keeps getting worse with age. He should be playing some great footy at his age.

Agreed x 2

Should be looking forward not back...both have shown glimpses but not enough to warrant a spot  - even as depth...both are no doubt "good blokes" but there's plenty of "mature age" 20 or 21 years old from VFL, SANFL, WWAFL etc who would be worth giving a crack to as far as depth or playing in the twos.

After using as an excuse the bagging our supporters use to give him for his need for a new start at another club, I can't see Tambling ever returning to Richmond. Nor do we need or want him. We've moved on (thanks for the extra pick Adelaide  ;D ) and with him spending two years stuck playing at Sturt it showed it wasn't us. Richie will just go down as just another promising junior footballer who couldn't make it in the big league. We got it wrong on 2004 draft day for well explained reasons (thanks Matty Lloyd for reminding us of it again in today's Age  ::) ) but at least we got some decent draft picks in return when we traded him to Adelaide two years ago. It's given us Helbig and pick 29 in this draft.

Poor decision to recruit and then poorly coached, trained and used. Did not develop any strength lost his pace and did not have tank to go into midfield.

Weird how Tambling keeps getting worse with age. He should be playing some great footy at his age.

Mental disintegration.

There was a moment in time that he looked as if he might make it but a few injuries, coupled with being haunted by the constant Buddy comparisons saw the confidence plummet and with it his football fell apart. Really didn't look like he wanted to play.

Unlucky to be taken in the draft where he was. Sad end for Richie.

Best lead ever. Had the luxury of taking them on the chest because most defenders couldn't go with him. 924 goals...wow.  :bow

Don't know why the other Richmond posters don't agree with us about Lloydy. I've always believed in giving credit where it's due and Matt Lloyd was a star of the game.

Doesn't Tambling need to be delisted firstly?

Would like Rodan and Tambling as Rookies!

Both be depth players!

Tambling wouldn't have any expectations on him this time and would need to perform to get a position!

We are allowed eight rookies and have two at the moment.

Why not? Tambling who will be 27 next year still would have 3-4 years left in him while Rodan may have 1-2! Richmond VFL team i believe!
